Chapter 22 - Chapter 19: Source of the Evil Qi

"So, it's a defense magical artifact, a top-grade middle-quality one." Liou Yuan's eyes sparkled.

Even though he successfully cultivated spiritual power, he still felt a sense of urgency.

He always felt like his strength wasn't enough, worried about encountering danger and being unable to protect himself.

The appearance of this defense magical artifact is truly a timely aid.

Moreover, its quality is quite good, ranking in the middle quality among top grades.

"Encountering Star Evil is another matter, but staying alive won't be a problem anymore." Liou Yuan thought confidently.

Of course, there's another unexpected delight in these yellow jade Buddhist beads.

That is, the Buddhist beads contain a hidden segment of Buddhist True Words, which can be used as magic against enemies.

"The Five Mansions Star Gazing Breathing Skill is merely a fourth-grade low-quality, but the quality of Buddhist True Words is higher than it."

After all, the Five Mansions Star Gazing Breathing Skill is just an auxiliary method for cultivating the Star Gazing Breathing Skill.

It's merely a method with an added magical effect.

But this Buddhist True Words is genuinely an attack magic.

So, it's understandable that it's stronger than the Five Mansions Star Gazing Breathing Skill.

Upon this realization, Liou Yuan was fond of these newly acquired Buddhist beads.

"This time's gains provide both means of defense and attack, don't they?"

The only regret is that earlier Liou Yuan activated the Fixed Star Compass to survey the surrounding environment.

Which caused the Compass's star energy to deplete, preventing it from guiding the Buddhist True Words.

To cultivate the Buddhist True Words, Liou Yuan needs to wait for the Compass to recharge its energy.

However, these issues are solvable.

It's just a matter of waiting a few more days.

"The Buddhist True Words won't disappear, there's no rush. The urgent matter is to deal with the Star Evil lurking in the well."

Liou Yuan knew how to prioritize, wearing the Buddhist beads on his wrist, he immediately departed the warehouse.

Before leaving, he didn't forget to clean up the mud and sand scattered all over.

While tidying up, he muttered, "Mr. Kong, I've worked for you for a month for free, not asking for money, consider it as paying off the debt for these Buddhist beads."

The clay statue had been gathering dust in the warehouse for so long; Liou Yuan expected Mr. Kong wouldn't notice its disappearance anytime soon.

Therefore, he had no intention of informing Mr. Kong.

Given Mr. Kong's stingy nature, knowing his collected item is gone, he surely would exploit Liou Yuan.

He wasn't that foolish.

Besides, whether Mr. Kong remembered the clay statue was another matter.

Having done all this, Liou Yuan headed towards the hospital's front hall, carried Bai Xin and Kong Yi who were lying on the ground, and left.

He went to the Yanhe Government Office, unable to leave these two behind.

Half an hour later.

Liou Yuan returned with Mr. Ge and Mr. Xin who had left not long ago, leaving Bai Xin and Kong Yi in the government office.

With solemn expressions on their faces, Liou Yuan led them to stop at the back hall.

They saw the two unconscious hospital attendants and the cook.

Mr. Ge was undoubtedly an expert on Star Evil matters, bent down and looked briefly, then observed the sinister aura on their faces.

With a certain tone, he said to Liou Yuan, "It's indeed the influence of Star Evil's power, they, like your mother, are affected by Evil Qi."

"Evil Qi?" Liou Yuan repeated Mr. Ge's words, not knowing what it was.

But he was concerned about his mother and Kong Yi.

"According to Mr. Ge, how should we resolve this Evil Qi?"

While Mr. Ge checked their bodies, Mr. Xin kept standing by with a knife, on guard.

Upon hearing Liou Yuan's question, he explained proactively, "This Star Evil Evil Qi is hard to solve; in Yanhe City, in previous years, not many people directly died from Star Evil."

"More than sixty percent of people died because they were infected with Star Evil Evil Qi."

"This thing, for ordinary people, is akin to arsenic poison, and there is no antidote."

This wasn't the answer Liou Yuan wanted to hear; he frowned at the words and looked to Mr. Ge for help.

Hoping this old cultivator could provide a solution.

In the eyes of mortals, this Star Evil Evil Qi is hard to solve, but for a cultivator, it's not necessarily so.

Satisfied, Mr. Ge pondered for a moment before providing his answer: "Just sever the source of this Evil Qi."

Liou Yuan understood Mr. Ge's implicit meaning, severing the source of Evil Qi meant killing that Star Evil.

Coincidentally, Liou Yuan also had the intention to kill the Star Evil, feeling relieved, he cautiously replied, "That's manageable!"

Liou Yuan already had a record of slaying Star Evil; though he still dreaded them, he no longer shuddered at the thought as he did before.

"It's not easy," Mr. Ge said with a bitter smile, shaking his head.

He gestured toward the still unconscious group.

"Star Evil is extremely good at concealing itself; as long as it doesn't come out voluntarily, I have no means to find them."

Mr. Xin also smiled bitterly, explained: "It's not Mr. Ge's fault, even the Yanhe Government Office doesn't have any method to precisely locate the Star Evil."

"They don't have a physical form, either parasitizing living beings or items, unless they expose themselves, they can't be investigated at all."

Liou Yuan assumed they were worried about something.

He had anticipated this matter long before he went to the government office, having confirmed the Star Evil's location using the Fixed Star Compass.

It's right beneath the well in the back hall.

However, Liou Yuan certainly couldn't reveal the location directly to them.

If even the Yanhe Government Office couldn't locate the Star Evil, if he, a fledgling cultivator, casually revealed it, wouldn't it arouse suspicion?

Liou Yuan rolled his eyes and found a solution.

"Mr. Ge, Mr. Xin, I roughly know why they were infected with Evil Qi."

"Perhaps from this, we can deduce the Star Evil's hiding place."

Upon saying this, Liou Yuan revealed the existence of the well in the back hall.

He said that the array of dishes and the tea water his mother Bai Xin drank, all drew from that well.

Coincidentally, the hospital owner fell ill on the same day the well was reactivated.

Such extensive clues pointed directly to that well.

This made Mr. Ge and Mr. Xin exchange glances and then their eyes shone bright.

"Mr. Liou is indeed detail-oriented." Mr. Ge praised.

"Now it's manageable; as long as we can find the Star Evil, eliminate it, the Evil Qi can be solved." Mr. Xin affirmatively replied.

Mr. Ge stood up directly, said to Liou Yuan: "Lead the way, let's go see the well."

Liou Yuan wanted to eliminate Star Evil for the Fixed Star Compass's reward.

Also to save his mother and Kong Yi.

Meanwhile, Mr. Ge and others, as part of the Yanhe Government Office, inherently have the duty to annihilate Star Evil.

There are rewards for it.

Therefore, both sides stood on a unified front regarding eliminating Star Evil.

Liou Yuan wasted no time; after nodding, he led them to the backyard where he previously recuperated.

Stopping a yard away from the dry well.

As the night deepened, now the starry sky filled the entire backyard, providing the three with a sense of safety.

Determining that the Star Evil surely wouldn't dare appear at this time, the trio wasn't greatly apprehensive, so they approached the well and peered down the well mouth.

The well was deep and pitch black, the starlight couldn't penetrate the darkness below.

The only visible was the starry sheen reflected off the water surface.

"Let's step back first." After concentrating for a while, Mr. Ge signaled Liou Yuan and Mr. Xin to retreat.

The three retreated to about three yards from the well mouth; Mr. Ge then worriedly said to Liou Yuan: "It's thorny."

"Below the well mouth is deep and void of any living aura."

"According to my estimation, this Star Evil is not attached to a living being."
