Chapter 232 - The Trial Details

Robert had already explained his reasoning the previous night, and standing here again in front of the broken pillars only confirmed it further. The restriction inscribed at the base of that pillar had made its terms clear enough. 

Although they somehow forced the door open through sheer effort, the current compatibility reading of zero percent meant the formation would recognize them as intruders the moment they crossed the threshold. Whatever safeguards a seal from this age had against unauthorized entry, they were certainly not designed to handle a blind attack.

"If we cannot force our way through," Sai said, "then we need to understand what actually qualifies someone to enter."

Robert nodded. "The Keepers did not appear out of nowhere. If this settlement maintained a working succession for nearly three thousand years, they trained new Guardians somewhere. That process left traces. We just have not been looking for it."
