Robert stayed beside the narrow opening in the stone without stepping through it.
A current of spiritual energy rose steadily from below, faint but unmistakable, brushing against his senses the way a distant breeze brushes against skin. Rather than descend blindly, he extended his own spiritual perception into the opening first, feeling the shape and quality of what moved through it. Then he asked inwardly.
