Somehow even worse than the unsettling phone call with Rae is the uncomfortable conversation he has with Beckett the next day.
Despite generally avoiding the news the past week, Noel did keep an eye out for anything involving Beckett, but other than the predictable headlines about him being hospitalized and subsequently released, as well as some gushing about his heroism during the attack, there hasn't been much. Jade has had to make a few trips to Halo and reported that Beckett wasn't back at work yet, so Noel hopes he's just resting at home.
Jade also recounted that Beckett claimed to remember seeing Noel and Rae at the riverbank, but that Jade had told him he must have been hallucinating because Jade himself was solely responsible for getting them both back to Halo.
"He also thought you were in his hospital room," Jade added. "You're clearly on his mind."
Noel just laughed awkwardly and went back to clipping Coppelia's claws.
