Chapter 3 - Chapter 3

*Bang!*

The door was finally broken open after the monster's relentless efforts.

But before the excited monster could even reach Joey, the Killer Queen standing behind him simply pressed her prepared thumb.

In the firelight, the monster's entire body exploded into flames and vanished.

Joey then shifted his gaze from the small map.

He saw the name of a country he remembered on the map, and connecting it to the monsters that had invaded the village, Joey suddenly had a clear understanding of his location.

  Hunter x Hunter!

This was arguably Joey's favorite anime, so he remembered some of its settings quite clearly.

For example, the name representing his country on the map: NGL Autonomous Country!

NGL is an abbreviation for Neo Green Life, meaning a green new lifestyle. The entire country fully adheres to this philosophy, operating in an environmentally friendly mode that rejects mechanical civilization and maintains a natural way of life.

According to records, 99% of the country's population are nature lovers, accustomed to a life of farming and weaving, working from sunrise to sunset without technology.

The remaining 1% are volunteers from around the world who serve environmental ideals, supporting and upholding NGL's environmental protection principles.

However, Joey knows better that the personnel ratio is merely a record on paper; the truth lies beneath NGL's facade of nature worship and environmental protection, concealing a malice towards the entire world. The

globally prevalent oral anesthetic D2 originated from this country, and 80% of its raw material, the pira tree, grows in this isolated nation.

As for the patchwork monster now appearing before Joey, he recognized its race and origin.

Chimera Ants, a Class 1 designated quarantine species from the Dark Continent, rated as Danger Level B.

Their unique feeding, mating, and reproductive methods allow them to evolve and reproduce extremely quickly when food is plentiful and diverse.

However, based on the current situation, it should still be the queen's lifespan; otherwise, there wouldn't be a large influx of Chimera Ants invading the village and capturing people.

A flurry of thoughts raced through Joey's mind.

The world he had transmigrated to, the timeline he found himself in after waking up, even some of the events that would occur in this country and this world—Joey had a general idea of what was going to happen.

But now was not the time to delve into these things, so Joey shook off the chaotic thoughts in his mind, quickly stuffed the glowing white wallet into his pocket, then took out his pistol, grenade, phone, and map, setting them aside. He stuffed a few pancakes and some collected necessities into a cloth bag, slung it over his shoulder, grabbed the pistol beside him, pocketed his phone and map, gripped the grenade, and dashed towards the back window of the house.

Looking out the window and seeing no monsters, Joey didn't jump out immediately.

Instead, she turned to look at Killer Queen again. Suddenly, a skull-shaped vehicle, resembling a tank, detached from the back of Killer Queen's left hand.

This was Killer Queen's second bomb, the Withering Heart Attack.

The miniature tank, smaller than a volleyball, left two tracks on the ground, shouting, "The roast chicken's gone! (Look here!)" as it charged out through the door previously breached by the Chimera Ants.

The vehicle made a very arrogant sound, but Joey, from her perspective through the doorway, didn't see any unusual behavior from the Chimera Ants after noticing its presence; it was as if they couldn't hear the vehicle's noise at all.

"So that setting that works for most Stands—that only the Stand user can see the Stand—should still be useful in this world." While Joey analyzed and observed, the vehicle leisurely ran to a Chimera Ant near the house and then exploded with a loud shout.

  Boom!

A massive explosion resounded outside the house, accompanied by black smoke and blinding flashes of light.

However, the vehicle, unharmed, roared forward again through the smoke and dust.

The Withering Heart Attack, a single-bomb vehicle with automatic heat-tracking capability, detonates upon approaching its target. The explosive power is directly proportional to the target's heat, and the explosion itself is harmless, allowing for multiple attacks.

Furthermore, the vehicle is extremely sturdy and cannot be destroyed by ordinary attacks, making it arguably Joey's most suitable method for drawing attention and eliminating Chimera Ants.

However, Joey paid little attention to the damage caused by the vehicle; the moment the explosion occurred, he squeezed out of the back window of the room.

Looking up, he indeed saw flying Chimera Ants above the house.

Fortunately, as he had predicted, the Chimera Ants in the air were drawn by the sudden explosion, giving Joey a chance to dodge. He steadied himself and darted into the shadows of the eaves.

Just then, a second explosion rang out, accompanied by the hissing of the chimera ants.

Joey, who had been observing the chimera ants' movements overhead, clearly saw two flying chimera ants carefully circle the area several times before flapping their wings and approaching the direction of the explosion. At this moment, the small tank had already emitted its fifth explosion.

Joey was overjoyed and, without lingering, sprinted towards the woods less than a hundred meters behind the house the instant the chimera ants flew away.

He gripped his pistol tightly, ready to pull the trigger or throw a grenade at the crucial moment if anything went wrong, even at the risk of complete exposure.

However, with the sixth explosion, Joey's fears were not realized, and he safely entered the woods.

But he dared not relax for a moment, as he had no way of knowing whether there were still chimera ants in the woods.

Meanwhile, the explosions in the village behind him became increasingly frequent.

Following the sixth explosion, three more booming sounds followed.

The chimera ants seemed to be locked in a stalemate with the mini-tank, but logically, they couldn't see the vehicle, so was it necessary to force their way in?

A question arose in Joey's mind.

However, recalling the launched vehicle wouldn't be a quick task.

Joey's order to the vehicle was to destroy all the chimera ants in the village.

This order was very vague; Joey even doubted whether the mini-tank could perfectly understand it. After all, he hadn't measured the chimera ants' body temperature, and he had even prepared for the possibility of the vehicle exploding and killing captured villagers when he released it.

In this life-or-death situation, he couldn't even guarantee his own safety, so how could he care about the captured villagers?

However, judging from the first explosion, the chimera ants' body temperature shouldn't be low.

He licked his dry lips and the fine beads of sweat on his forehead, focusing more on the potential risks of his abilities and his escape route.
