Chapter 140 - Chapter 5: Dr. Verde’s Approval

Five or six minutes passed. The automatic door at the back of the examination room slid open by itself, and Luo Shu, dressed in the blue and white striped patient outfit, walked in while stretching his neck. "Is that all it takes to get the results? No blood tests or anything? Won't that be inaccurate?"

At Luo Shu's doubt, Dr. Verde, sitting in a specially designed chair, immediately pushed up his glasses with discontent and said, "Don't compare my technology with those mediocre methods outside."

Luo Shu glanced at Dr. Verde, then turned his head to look at Kirika, whose expression was somewhat subtle. "And this is?"

Kirika gave Luo Shu a once-over, as if looking at some rare curiosity, and explained, "This is Dr. Verde, head of the SDS Research Department."

"Dr. Verde, huh!" Luo Shu saw the spiky-haired, infantile appearance of Dr. Verde, but in his mind, he recalled the 'Arcobaleno'—a term from a gangster-themed anime about a group of seven world-class talents whose bodies were cursed to be eternally confined in infant forms, hence the nickname. Having such a character here made Luo Shu silently wonder, what kind of world was this? Was it some kind of dice game?

While Luo Shu was internally ridiculing the bizarre situation, he also noticed Kirika's subtle change in expression. Amused, he teased her, "What's wrong? Speechless after seeing my big secret, huh?"

Kirika clutched her cigarette and said with a somewhat complex expression, "Now I understand why you hide things and act like you have paranoid delusions—you really do get targeted!"

To say nothing else, if various governments found out about Luo Shu's physical condition, the outcome was obvious. Being locked up somewhere to be used as a breeding stud was the mildest fate. If some dangerous secret organization caught him, it would be basic practice for them to soak him in formaldehyde and extract tissue samples daily.

Hadn't even Dr. Verde suggested that Lacus keep him tightly under Clyne faction control? For this crazy scientist to propose such a measure showed how special Luo Shu was.

So, in Kirika's eyes, Luo Shu absolutely needed to be cautious.

Hearing Kirika's words, Luo Shu raised an eyebrow and looked at Dr. Verde with some surprise. "I take back what I said earlier—your instrument is pretty accurate."

Having said that, before Dr. Verde could respond, Luo Shu asked, "So, what did the report say?"

As Luo Shu spoke, his gaze shifted toward Lacus's face.

"Please wait a moment," Lacus took a deep breath, then turned to Dr. Verde and said, "Doctor, please provide the most complete data."

"Got it. Just a heads-up: some of these terms are my own inventions, so if you find anything confusing, ask me. Of course, if you don't trust my explanations, well, that's on you," Dr. Verde said with a touch of self-confidence.

He tapped the keyboard a few times, and the instrument displays slowly rose to reveal a printing mechanism below it.

One sheet after another printed out rapidly, stacking into a thick pile several palms high in just a few breaths, growing rapidly.

Seeing this, Lacus sighed gently and said, "Doctor, please provide a core dataset version without errors or omissions."

Dr. Verde pushed up his glasses and asked, "Hmm? A fake version to fool people, or the real data?"

"The real data," Lacus emphasized, then added, "Also print a fake version to serve as the official normal test data."

"Simple enough." Dr. Verde pressed a few more buttons, and the printer spat out three more sheets.

He handed these three documents to Luo Shu and reminded him, "You probably already understand your condition, but I'll give you a friendly reminder anyway."

"In the future, avoid jerking off. If you have urgent needs, let me know—I can arrange professionals for you. Although it might seem trivial, I do control a few underworld organizations in Japan, and some of the popular teachers can help arrange things for you."

Luo Shu's expression instantly froze; he was about to take the files but stiffened. "Is that something you can say here?"

Lacus seemed surprised by Dr. Verde's audacity and raised her voice with a scolding whisper, "Doctor!"

"Sorry, Chairwoman, this is just a researcher's desire for precious research material," Dr. Verde shrugged and pushed up his glasses, the lenses nearly glowing blank.

Luo Shu snatched the documents from Dr. Verde's hand with a neutral expression and said, "While the spirit of researchers is admirable, I have to say you picked the worst timing."

Ignoring Kirika for a moment, announcing his proposition openly to solicit prostitutes would never be acceptable, even if Luo Shu had the idea.

"Oh? Got it," Dr. Verde chuckled, lowered his head, and tapped the custom keyboard. He brazenly created a personal file for Luo Shu right in front of him.

Luo Shu glanced briefly, saw no nonsense written, and didn't bother checking further. Instead, he stealthily infiltrated the system's cognition and used the Knowledge Authority fragment to implant a piece of knowledge into Dr. Verde's mind as a backup.

"Huh?" Dr. Verde instantly sensed something odd, paused his actions, and turned to look at Luo Shu.

As a research scientist, how could he not alter himself, especially memories—priority number one? So he immediately perceived the intrusion.

In that instant, Luo Shu looked back and smirked.

Dr. Verde glanced at him seriously and said, "I heard you're pursuing the Chairwoman?"

At those words, Kirika couldn't help but glance at Lacus. Although Lacus continued to smile sweetly, Kirika—an old acquaintance—knew well that was just a cover-up for awkwardness.

This girl was probably trying to shut Dr. Verde's mouth.

While Kirika was muttering, Luo Shu was briefly stunned by the sudden question, but soon retorted, "Is there a problem?"

"No problem... Well, I'm planning to cast my vote for you with Mr. Siegel," Dr. Verde pushed up his glasses and showed a kindly smile.

"After all, a decisive guy like you is exactly right for our innocent Chairwoman."

While Lacus wasn't opposed to using force, compared with Luo Shu—who immediately acted when danger was sensed—she was too naive.

From Dr. Verde's perspective, someone like Luo Shu was ruthless and cunning enough; standing behind Lacus and supporting her was perfect.

As for Luo Shu's secret moves, Dr. Verde never cared—he himself had buried no fewer than four different self-destruct mechanisms.

Compared to that, Luo Shu adding one more just piqued his research interest.

"Just... The recent shifts in scheduling seem a bit packed."

Hearing Dr. Verde's remark, Luo Shu smiled, "Thanks for the compliment."

Then he lowered his head and looked down at the data report in his hands, genuinely curious about the current state of his body.
