Juno's room felt far more cramped than usual, even though nothing about its layout had actually changed. The air hung heavy, filled with an uncomfortable silence. Valerie stood near the bed where Daniel lay, while Juno leaned against the table with her arms crossed. Sebastian stood not far from the door, his jaw set, his mind clearly racing in multiple directions.
No one spoke.
Only the faint hum of a small machine and Daniel's still-unsteady breathing filled the room.
Valerie stared blankly at the floor, her fingers unconsciously clenched together. The news from earlier kept replaying in her head like a loop she couldn't stop. Leo's name. The murder accusation. Her father's name. Everything blurred together until she couldn't even tell which part to process first.
Finally, Sebastian let out a long breath, breaking the suffocating stillness.
"I'm going to the police station," he said firmly, his voice low but resolute. "Leo can't face this alone."
