Chapter 251 - Even That Kind of Excuse?

Even though the Soul Shock had been weakened considerably, it still instantly disrupted Wu Ming and the others' soul skill activation.

The Nine Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda in Ning Tian's hands trembled violently, its radiance dimming to a pale shadow of its former brilliance. Only Wang Dong'er remained unaffected — in fact, the blow triggered a restriction deep within her soul, and the rebound of that power shattered the mirror lotus that had targeted them.

Seeing this, the God of Destiny frowned slightly.

A golden halo then appeared above Wang Dong'er's head. From within it, a massive hand descended, blotting out the sky as it pressed down upon her with oppressive force.

The god plucked another crystalline petal from the mirror lotus in His hand and cast it out. The petal flared with golden light — and a thunderous dragon's roar echoed through the air. The overwhelming might of the Golden Dragon Martial Soul completely suppressed Beibei's Radiant Holy Dragon.

Next, the petal transformed into a spear of ice and fire — the Dragon Spear of Dual Extremes — which the God of Destiny caught effortlessly. With a gentle sweep of His arm, He raised the mirror lotus high. One after another, black-and-white lotus flames rained down from the heavenly mirror above.

Before those lotus flames, Wu Ming's Golden Crow Martial Soul trembled uncontrollably. It was absolute elemental suppression — her own Golden Crow True Fire was extinguished outright.

In front of Ling Luochen, a jade-green mirror lotus bloomed, and the phantom of the Ice Jade Emperor Scorpion appeared above it. The oppressive aura of a terrifying beast and the crushing might of an ultimate attribute made her heart seize painfully in her chest. The Staff of Ice in her hand disintegrated in an instant.

The God of Destiny did not crush them with the raw force of a ninety-eighth level Super Douluo. Instead, He chose to demonstrate absolute elemental dominance — a form of suppression far more awe-inspiring than mere disparity in power.

Even the fiery-tempered Wu Ming had now completely lost the will to fight.

Around the god bloomed countless mirror lotuses, each a fragment of His divine presence.

Suspended in midair, He stood lightly upon the tip of a mirror lotus petal, gazing down upon them. Then, with a mere wave of His hand, an overwhelming force like a tidal wave erupted outward — sending them all hurtling from the domain of Mirror Flower, Water Moon.

Outside, the Heavenly Mirror flashed with blinding light before shattering apart. Beibei and the others plummeted from the sky, landing hard upon the frozen surface of Sea God Lake.

"Beibei!"

From the deck of the ship, the elders of the Sea God Pavilion watched their battered forms fall, and their expressions immediately darkened.

When the Heavenly Mirror finally broke apart completely, Jiang Shengyu and Jiang Qingtong descended gracefully amid the rain of mirror shards, their silhouettes reflected countless times in the fragments. They appeared utterly unscathed — elegant, composed — as if defeating Wu Ming and the others had been effortless.

But Wu Ming was a high-ranking Soul Sage! And Beibei and the others were at least Soul Kings — not to mention Ning Tian, whose Nine Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda granted near-unparalleled support.

Even so, none of them could stand against those two? What kind of martial soul fusion technique was that?

Wu Ming stared blankly at Jiang Shengyu and Jiang Qingtong as they descended, unable to gather her thoughts.

The frozen surface of the lake rose in crystalline columns of ice, gently supporting the pair as they landed.

"We have won," said Jiang Shengyu and Jiang Qingtong together, their calm eyes sweeping across their fallen challengers before turning toward Zhang Lexuan.

Zhang Lexuan blinked, as though waking from a trance, then quickly nodded. "Y-yes… you've won!"

At that moment, Yan Shaozhe flew down from the ship, landing beside the fallen challengers. He helped them to their feet, then lifted his gaze to the two victors, demanding,

"What did you just do?"

Jiang Shengyu looked at him in puzzlement. His tone sounded more like he was interrogating an enemy than speaking to his own students.

At least pretend to be civil until the situation fully breaks down, Shengyu thought dryly.

Yan Shaozhe, clearly, was not suited to management — nor to any form of diplomacy. With his personality and manner, simple matters always seemed to grow unnecessarily complicated.

Xuanzi swiftly moved to stand beside him, raising a hand to stop him. Then, turning to Jiang Shengyu and Jiang Qingtong, he said,

"Shengyu, Qingtong — I believe you owe us an explanation. After the Sea God's Fate Festival concludes, meet us at the Sea God Pavilion."

Jiang Shengyu nodded. "Understood."

With that, the matter between them and the challengers was settled. Zhang Lexuan continued hosting the remainder of the event, while Jiang Shengyu and Jiang Qingtong quietly stepped upon the water's surface and glided toward the shore.

But after that dazzling display, all eyes followed them wherever they went. Their fame had instantly soared to unprecedented heights.

On the lake, Beibei took a deep breath and turned to Zhang Lexuan. "Senior Lexuan, I… have other matters to attend to. I'll be taking my leave."

Without waiting for permission, he clasped his hands in a polite farewell and departed the Sea God Lake.

Yet as he reached the shore, his eyes widened — among the crowd, he caught sight of someone.

Tang Ya.

Even after all this time, he recognized her at once.

"Xiao Ya…"

His pupils contracted as he broke into a run toward her.

But the moment Tang Ya saw him, she turned away — and left without a word.

Meanwhile, Jiang Shengyu and Jiang Qingtong reached Jiang Feixin's side — only to find her legs encased in ice, even a thin frost sealing her mouth.

The two exchanged a startled glance.

Qingtong asked, "What happened to you?"

"Mmff! Mmff mmff!!" Jiang Feixin's muffled voice was full of fury, though unintelligible.

Jiang Shengyu sighed, summoning a small flame to melt the ice around her mouth.

The moment she could speak, Jiang Feixin pointed furiously toward the ship and shouted,

"That woman! That hateful woman! She's the one who froze me — she wouldn't let me join the bride challenge! It's all her fault!"

Following her line of sight, Jiang Shengyu and Jiang Qingtong looked toward the ship — where the Snow Empress stood smiling, raising a hand in a playful wave.

Seeing this, Jiang Shengyu immediately understood her intention.

Qingtong quickly took Feixin's hand. "Come on — let's go somewhere quieter. We'll explain everything to you there. Too many people are watching."

Indeed, they'd already drawn plenty of attention — and Feixin's loud outburst had drawn even more curious stares their way. Explaining in public would be troublesome.

The trio found a secluded spot by the lakeshore, where Shengyu and Qingtong carefully explained everything — their shared consciousness, linked thoughts, and shared senses.

But Jiang Feixin covered her face, tears welling up. "To reject me, you two actually came up with that kind of excuse!?"

Jiang Shengyu: "..."

Damn fate, he thought helplessly. Why are the divine beasts so absurdly literal?

It took Jiang Qingtong a long time to calm her down, soothing her patiently until she finally accepted — albeit reluctantly — that the two were not blood siblings, but indeed a couple.

However, as for the "shared consciousness" part, she clearly didn't believe it.

Saying she needed to "clear her head," Jiang Feixin left Shrek Academy alone, leaving Shengyu and Qingtong utterly exasperated.

After the Sea God's Fate Festival concluded, the pair made their way to the Sea God Pavilion, where all the elders of Shrek Academy had gathered — the atmosphere heavy and solemn, like a tribunal.

Xuanzi fixed them with a grave gaze.

"Don't be nervous. Just explain your situation clearly. The Academy is not a prison — and we are not narrow-minded people bound by outdated thinking."
