Location — 4 Privet Drive, Little Whinging, Surrey
Date — 2 November, 1981
Howling of chilled winter winds rattled the windows of Number Four. Petunia was in her bed along with her husband, Vernon, and her son, Dudley.
She had been feeling uneasy for the last two days. A nagging dread twisted in her gut — the same feeling that she got whenever those 'freaks' were involved.
Suddenly, the street lights went out on Privet Drive, covering the entire lane in pitch-black darkness. Petunia, startled by this, sat upright on her bed. Her heart started to beat erratically. She looked next to her, where Vernon and Dudley were sleeping in peace, completely oblivious to her predicament.
After a few moments of tension, a knock on her door broke the silence of the night. Cold sweat broke out on Petunia as Vernon also woke from his slumber. Another knock, this time much heavier than before, woke her son. And as a child of his age would respond to being awake at this hour in the night, he started to cry.
"Shh, shh, my precious" she tried to console Dudley and managed to stop Dudley from crying further. Vernon, whose face had turned red from anger, left the bed and stomped downstairs. She followed, with one hand clutching Dudley tightly, her stomach churning with dread and anxiety.
Before she could put her foot on the last step, Vernon roared. She ran toward Vernon, her eyes wide at his reaction. When she reached the gate, Vernon was standing there, his face pale as if he had seen a ghost.
"What happened Vernon?" Her heart was thumping wildly in her chest. Vernon didn't say anything, he just pointed at the door, no…, at the doorstep.
There was a cradle sitting innocently, as if there were nothing wrong with it. She handed Dudley over to Vernon, and with shaky footsteps moved toward the cradle.
When she looked inside the bundle, she saw green eyes, the same as her freak of a sister, staring back.
"No," She whispered, her eyes welled with tears.
She knew what it meant, and she was not ready for it.
