Lucian's POV
An hour later, I returned downstairs, dressed in fresh clothes after settling Eira to sleep as she was exhausted.
Kaya was with Jason, calmly feeding from a bottle. She was a quiet child, rarely crying when her mother wasn't around.
"Evan is coming to meet Eira and Kaya," Kael said as I entered. "Make sure the security is tight beyond our boundaries."
"Consider it done," I replied.
Eira would be happy to see her brother. I had already decided I would personally bring him in.
But by evening, everything changed. Before Evan could even reach our secured territory, his troop was attacked.
It was precise, planned, we had no chance to counter it, being far away from us.
"How the hell did this happen?" I snapped at my men. "You had no intel on this?"
"Apologies, Alpha," the security head said. "They weren't operating within our monitored zones. And… it's likely Alpha Evan's side have a traitor who helped enemies."
