"The location of the humans has been located. They are moved towards an underground facility. The creatures are swarming the area right now, pushing toward the pathway," Waylen informed Serbas of their progress.
"Good. Everything is moving as planned. However, it was a little early for the invasion. I have used up so much of my power creating and evolving these creatures. All of you will be my sacrifice to replenish what I have lost." Serbas grabbed onto Jennifer's neck. All the demons stared in shock as Serbas's mouth opened wide and he bit Jennifer's head clean off.
"Master, please spare us," one of the demons shouted.
Serbas grabbed another one and bit his head off. Duncan immediately created a chain binding Serbas, but Serbas phased through it and grabbed the other demons. As the demons tried to flee, Serbas commanded them not to move.
Lyra's body was suddenly freed from the restriction. She protected herself from the sound vibrations with her spear barrier. Swiftly, her spears multiplied and shot beams of divine light, tearing through Serbas's hands and allowing the demon he held to break free. With the spears, Lyra created a divine barrier around Serbas, cutting off his power of command over the other demons.
"Run away now!!" Lyra shouted at all the demons.
The remaining demons quickly grabbed the injured ones and ran towards Waylen's mist, teleporting them to another location. "Come with us!" Duncan shouted as Lyra dropped her barrier, and Duncan's chain grabbed her, pulling her into the mist just before it vanished.
Serbas teleported out of the divine barrier and into the sky. "These demons lack loyalty! I'll kill them all and devour each one of them," Serbas raged. His power exploded with immense energy that could be felt throughout the world.
"I'll do it myself, there is no use for anyone now." Serbas flew through the sky at high speed.
"Damn these demons, wasting my time not able to replenish my powers. I can't even teleport straight towards the civilization. Vlad brought me to the opposite location of the civilization. How long more till I get there?!" Serbas cursed as he flew through the sky.
A New Alliance
As the heroes continued their assault on the creatures, all of a sudden, the creatures stopped attacking. It was as if the command given to them had vanished. The creatures seemed to idle in confusion.
At the top of the civilization, a mist appeared, and the remaining demons came out. "Stop fighting! We are all in serious danger!" Duncan shouted as the demons flew down towards Vlad and the other heroes.
Azrael and Johan quickly moved towards them. "We need to stop fighting. Serbas is coming to kill us all. His plan doesn't include any of us—demons or creatures—to survive. We are just pawns to be devoured by him," Duncan revealed.
"How can we trust you demons?!" Azrael shouted, his blade moving directly towards Duncan's neck.
"Wait, Azrael. As much as we can't trust them, I know they are speaking the truth," Vlad interjected. "Serbas once said to me he wants to destroy every living thing and wants me to watch it as the last person alive." Vlad spoke, worried about Serbas's arrival. "I don't want to believe this, but Serbas has long gone. He has turned insane."
"Currently, Serbas is not at his full strength. He used up most of it to create these creatures," Waylen said. "He devoured some of us demons to replenish his powers. He said that it was too early for his plan, and he looks like he is rushing to execute it."
"I know Serbas and how strong he is," Vlad explained. "Even though he may not be at his full strength, every one of us can be his fuel to be eaten and replenish his power. He absorbs the powers of everyone he eats—that is why he is so powerful. Even worse, he is immortal. His true heart is hidden away somewhere even I don't know. Unless his heart is out in the open near him, that is the only way we can kill him. His only weakness is when he is least expected."
