Swish~ Swish~ Swoosh~
Beneath the setting sun, a figure clad in red moved like wind amidst several tyrannodrones numbering hundreds. His omni-saber cleaved through their ranks like a raging bull. The tyrannodrones were like meat on a chopping board before him.
Splurt~ Crash! Bang!
The battle ended quickly, making the scene a one-man army as the figure in red fought against hundreds, but to the red figure, it was a normal routine.
"You guys need a hand over there," Zayne, who was obviously the red-clad figure, spoke.
"Nah, we can handle these circuit boards," Ethan, nearest to Zayne, replied as he decimated and countered the advancing tyrannodrones around him with his astonishing defense.
"Same here," Another replied.
"Me too"
"Me three"
The Dino Thunder Rangers and Gwen also spoke one after the other, confirming they could handle the threats before them.
"Mm, very good." Zayne was very satisfied with his team's fast-growing strength. If it were before, due to the amount of tyrannodrones, he would have intervened, but now they could take care of themselves. As the team leader, he was naturally happy. With their new strength, the upcoming threats would be reduced by a considerable margin.
Then he looked at the setting sun and muttered, a mix of disappointment and helplessness. "Hmm…. I wonder how Peter is doing now. I hope his mentality changes before the main event, but if it doesn't, then drastic measures have to be taken."
Although he said this, Zayne was hoping Peter would mature somewhat, as it was necessary for future threats that might scale larger than a universe. If their ideals don't match, there would naturally be complications, and that might cause severe or irreversible damage to his main mission.
If Peter changed, Zayne would gain a more capable team-mate with vast potential, much like the superior Spider-Man variant, but if otherwise, he would have to make a hard decision: nullify the contract and wipe his memory.
The fight against the tyrannodrones ended quickly, and the team regrouped. They were all present except Tommy, who had an important personal mission, and Peter.
"Well done, team. Let's make sure the civilians are safe and get back to base," Zayne smiled under his helmet and spoke.
"Yes, leader," They all replied, except Gwen, who was silent and deep in thought.
Zayne, with his formidable perception, noticed this and spoke. "Ghost spider, something wrong?"
"Well…." Gwen hesitated a little, but later spoke. "Don't you guys find the recent attacks from Mesogog weird?"
"Eh? What do you mean by " weird? The missions have been relatively normal." Conner asked with confusion in his tone.
Gwen didn't reply immediately but looked at their leader. Zayne immediately understood and signaled for her to speak while he blocked the surrounding eyes from listening to their conversation.
"It's safe to speak now," Zayne's words and actions dispelled her worries
Then she spoke. "Don't you guys notice the attacks from him are getting too easy, with almost no general leading them. It's almost as if –"
"As if he is just sending these monsters to distract us," Ethan completed her words.
The entire team was also enlightened by her and instantly identified the problem of the matter. Although they knew something was fishy, they couldn't identify the reason, so they all looked at Zayne for some explanation.
"I'm happy you could figure this out yourselves." Zayne smiled, then continued. "There is indeed an issue with Mesogog, and he is indeed planning something sinister, but rather than explaining it, you should all check the reports I sent this morning".
"Uhn…. reports?" Kira frowned in confusion but still checked her base device for any update, and there was truly one.
As she opened the file and read through it, her face changed from her previous confusion to shock and then anger.
"Damn this bastard!" Kira cursed, startling the others, who became curious by her reactions and also checked for the reports Zayne sent to them.
Thus, a flurry of intense reaction was incited.
"Holy-shit!"
"What the fuck?!"
"Damn, this dude is insane."
There were mixed reactions, but they were all shocked beyond words by the report. Mesogog's plan was very sinister, or rather insane. According to the reports, he planned to destroy the entire world. Although most evil overlords also have agendas like this, it wasn't as crazy as Mesogog's.
They were almost sure Mesogog was the evilest person they had ever encountered. As for whether there was someone worse, they don't know yet, but in their hearts, Mesogog took the number one spot.
Even Zayne's face was grim when he read through the report the day before. It was utterly disgusting.
"Alright, enough overthinking, when he –"
Boom! Streak!! Boom!!!
Before he could complete his sentence, thunder struck from afar with a bolt of lightning following. As the sun had set and the sky darkened, it was hard to see the source of the lightning, but with Zayne's strong eyesight, he saw through it easily.
"So…. " It's already that period of time in the Marvel universe," He thought.
Then a smile appeared on his face beneath his helmet. "It would be a shame not to witness it myself."
His team was also quietly waiting for him to complete his sentence. But because of his earlier reaction, they didn't interrupt, as it was clear their leader was attracted to that thunder just now, which means it must have a meaning and significance.
"You guys should get the civilians to safety. Something came up, and it needs my immediate attention", Zayne spoke. "As for the issue with Mesogog, we'll go through it at the base later today".
"Mm okay leader. You can trust us," Conner replied solemnly as he thought of Mesogog's plan once more. It was truly beyond his imagination.
The others also replied preemptively and went off to secure the civilians.
After seeing his team leave to perform their duties, Zayne looked at the former place where the thunder struck and spoke with a strange smile. "Let's go meet the Avengers".
Boom! Zwoosh~
With a slight propulsion to the air, Zayne's figure blurred, flying at a speed many times faster than sound with only a red streak accompanying him.
Meters away from his current flight location. A strange-looking plane was moving at immense speed, but was strangely slowing down at each minor interval. The former smooth plate was not filled with holes or had minor damage. There were also occasional streaks of lightning on its surface, indicating that most of the damaged parts were caused by the earlier lightning.
The airplane, or rather the Airbus, was in no good condition, and the culprit was the people within the ship itself.
"Who are you?" Natasha looked at the floating figure before her, bathed in thunder, with wariness.
The figure showed no arrogance but urgency and replied. "Midgardian, I am Thor, son of Odin, and I come for my brother".
"Thor...wait, the Norse mythology god of thunder, Thor?" Natasha thought to herself, finding it hard to believe a literal god was in front of her, but as a well-trained agent, she still kept her composure.
"Sorry, we do not have your brother here, Lord Thor," Natasha lied through her teeth without any expression, shocking even Thor himself.
If Thor hadn't felt Loki's presence before, he might have been fooled by her 'honest and precise' words.
"Jane was right, most women in Midgard are indeed fond of lying and playing tricks," Thor thought, remembering the words that the beautiful woman he had become close with said.
"Do you take me for a fool, Midgardian?" Thor frowned, quite displeased by the woman before him. It was one thing to be beautiful, but to be a liar before him was quite rude.
"Hey, glowing lightning rod, she said your brother isn't here. Do you perhaps have auditory problems?" This time, a mocking voice replied to him, making Thor's frown deepen even more.
His lightning gaze turned to the direction of the voice, and to his surprise, it was a man in a sophisticated metal suit. Although Thor did not understand what it did, he knew it was a type of armor, but before him and his Mjolnir, no suit of armor was unbreakable. So, he just ignored him.
This immediately enraged the figure in the red armor.
"Did he just ignore me?" Tony, the figure in the red suit of armor, had a very incredulous expression.
"Hey –" Just as he wanted to retort, another voice interrupted.
"That's enough, Tony," Captain America spoke, his tone leaving no room for discussion. Although Tony wanted to continue, out of respect for a historical hero, he stopped and just walked away to sit nearby watching the hovering thunder god.
Thor was quite pleased by the development. Although he actually didn't care for Tony's comment, a god mustn't be disrespected, and he naturally had his own pride. So, due to the situation, he immediately developed a good impression of the man in striped blue.
Captain America's charisma was naturally high, so it wasn't weird that Thor would develop a favorable impression upon meeting.
"Thor, son of Odin, how may we help you?" Rogers asked politely
"I come only for my brother Midgardian, nothing more, nothing less," Thor replied
"We indeed have your brother, but I'm sorry we can't give him to you since he's also important to us here." Rogers didn't hide anything and spoke truthfully about the matter.
"Hmm…. why?" Thor, suppressing his violent temperament, asked. After being tempered on Midgard by his father, his violent and reckless nature had decreased by a large margin.
This time, Natasha, who had been silent, spoke up. "Your brother murdered thousands on our planet, so it's impossible to set him free, Mr. god of Thunder."
This response immediately deepened Thor's frown and confirmed his worries. He naturally knew his 'dear' brother's temperament. From a young age, he had been immensely proud and tricky, not to mention now. The reason he came for his brother was also because of a crime he had committed on Asgard.
Although he knew taking him away would anger the protectors of Midgard, for Asgard, it had to be done. His father demanded it.
"I understand my brother caused you great disaster, and I'll definitely compensate you, but I have to take my brother with me now. You have my oath," Thor swore, not even embodying the pride of a god at this moment.
But he was destined to fail, as the ones before him would never agree.
"Some god you are." This time, Tony spoke, disregarding Rogers's signal to stop. "Your brother killed several humans numbering thousands, and you're talking about some compensation. Can your compensation revive them? Can it restore the damages he caused? Why don't you and your lightning rod fuck off back to your planet? I assure you, even if both of them accept your request, I won't!
Tony's words surprised Rogers and Natasha a lot because they knew his usual character. He was usually calm in most situations and even made jokes out of them. Although this incident triggered him a ton, they never knew it was this deep.
They were right about Tony, but what made him this annoyed was not even the damage Loki caused but the lives he took with a deranged smile on his face. Those dead bodies reminded him of the lives his inventions took when he was still very indulgent and ignorant of their true use.
From that day on, he had made a silent vow that his inventions would not take an innocent life anymore, but at least save lives.
But that help had been useless during Loki's raid, so the agitation and anger were natural.
Seeing that none of them were listening to reason, Thor's anger burst out entirely.
"Hmph, since you won't listen, out of my way!" He swung the Mjolnir, hitting Tony squarely on the chest.
Bang!
The force tossed Tony backwards, and he hit the ground of the Quinjet with a thud. The rest couldn't even react as Thor's actions were too fast.
With a flash of lightning, Thor appeared before Loki and spoke coldly. "You're coming with me."
Surprisingly enough, there was no trace of panic on his face but a disturbing smile. He turned to Natasha and poked. "I told you I wasn't overly fond of what follows."
And with that, Thor bathed in lightning from above, taking Loki away at a speed faster than a human can follow.
"Dammit," Tony, who had been previously flung away, stood up with gritted teeth. He immediately prepared to chase after Thor.
"Stark, we need a plan of attack." Rogers tried to stop Tony, but the moving man in iron did not stop.
Instead, he replied. "I have a plan.... attack!"
Whiir~
After those words, his iron suit lit up, flames erupting from beneath the hands and feet.
Boom!
Propelled by the force like a rocket being launched to space, Tony flew out of the Quinjet chasing after Thor.
Seeing Tony's actions, Rogers's face showed helplessness, but he still took a parachute nearby, ready to follow.
"I'd sit this one out, Cap," Natasha, who had taken the other wheel of the Quinjet back, spoke.
"I don't see how I can," Rogers replied, his hands not slowing down at all.
Natasha then tried to convince him. "These guys come from legends, they're basically gods."
Roger's already near the hatch and preparing to jump out replied. "I only know one God, ma'am, and I'm pretty sure he doesn't dress like that."
Swoosh~
Without waiting for her response, he jumped out and propelled himself after the two figures ahead.
"Sigh~, working with these two in the future is sure to be a pain in the ass." Natasha's face turned weary as exhaustion seeped into her bones. "Forget it, I'll just put the Quinjet on standby mode till they get back. It shouldn't be too dangerous, right?"
Several meters away from the Quinjet, Zayne currently flying naturally, spotted the Jet and three familiar figures.
"I wonder how many points I'll get if I defeat the two gods from Asgard." Zayne could already imagine the rewards and points the grid would produce after this small interlude.
As the grid didn't always need to assign missions except for emergency ones, Zayne could still get rewards for undertaking small missions or defeating important characters in both universes. Although it hadn't been tested before, the grid had informed him.
Now that there was a strong 'god' before him, he naturally had to take the chance to test it.
Boom!
Shockwaves appeared in the air, and his previous speed instantly increased. Since he had confirmed the event, he naturally had to make it there before it ended.
