Orion after recovering trained with Shen for some time. He, through talking with Aurelion Sol and listening to Shen, discovers how to turn Runic Stones into Portal Stones. Shen and the others, looking to repay Orion, do so by accepting a portal stone that would glow when he requests their help.
Wanting to learn more about his powers, and how to hopefully avoid death by the hands of his pursuers, Orion traveled toward the capital of Ionia. Along the way he and his companion, the Spirit fox, encounter Evelyn. They battle and Orion obtains fresh wounds when Aria saves him.
Aria, very reserved and wary, notices the unusual energy and the spirit fox. She recognizes him and, wanting to uncover her mysterious origins, asks him to accompany her to uncover the truths of her Vesani of the Vastaya origins. Orion agrees to accompany her to the Shadow Isles after they visit the capital for some curious sight seeing and to hopefully find light or guidance on his own situation.
A feeling that Aria understands from experience.
Along the way they meet Yasuo doing battle against Noxus soldiers left behind from the war who are now mere looters. The second war has yet to begin, but these pillagers still enjoy the thrill even after the first has ended. Yasuo has been left bereft after returning from the first war, finding his master slain and his brother fought him in a duel, believing it was him.
Orion, knowing some of the lore of Yasuo when he tried to main him during his mid-laning days, tells him of Riven from Noxus who was the mysterious wind user who killed his master though by accident due to her runic blade. Yasuo, doubting this information, demands Orion to show proof to which he can provide none.
Still, Yasuo's tracing of this wind user is along the way to the capital so he accompanies them. Along the way they encounter Riven and Yasuo, enraged and unwilling to listen, does battle until he witnesses her blade shatter and reforms. As their conflict comes to an end, Aria suddenly pushes Orion out of the way when Pantheon arrives with an attack aimed at his heart.
Aurelion Sol, still furious over his loss and filled with revenge, forcibly takes over Orion and the two do battle once more. This mixture of cosmic energies shattering across Ionia awakens the spirit of Ionia and it tries to subdue them but in doing so, weakens its prison in the Fae'Lor's Dreaming Pool keeping Syndra asleep.
In a burst of cosmic energy, filled with rage and Pantheon's wrath, mixed with the Spirit of Ionia's energy and Syndra's negative energy that exploded out after she broke free of her prison, gets teleported away once more to Demacia.
