I stood in front of my closet, pacing back and forth. Nothing looked right.
Not the black dress….it felt too serious. Not the red one…..that was trying too hard. And definitely not jeans. This was a date, not a group project meeting.
I just… didn't know what this night was supposed to look like.
I exhaled slowly, dragging my fingers through the hangers again.
Why is this so hard? It's just Ian.
I groaned under my breath. "Get it together, June."
For a second, I reached for my phone to call Ash.
My thumb hovered over his name. He'd know what to say. He'd probably tease me first, then actually help. He always did.
But then I paused. He's probably busy… especially after everything.
My chest tightened just a little, but I shook it off, setting my phone back down. "I've got this," I murmured.
After another minute of indecision, I finally pulled out a simple black dress. I held it up against myself in the mirror, tilting my head.
"Okay… this is normal," I muttered.
