The professor's voice droned on about theoretical essence channel formations.
Alaric sat near the back. Absorbing information while simultaneously running his own internal assessment of his channels, comparing what the professor described to what he actually felt inside his own damaged network.
"Dismissed," the professor announced.
Students rose in wave of noise and movement. Conversations erupting immediately. Groups forming.
Alaric closed his notebook and stood.
"Oh, leaving already?"
The voice came from his left.
Female student. Pretty in calculated way that suggested she knew exactly how pretty she was. Sitting sideways in her chair with two friends flanking her.
"Did the material get too complicated?" she continued. Her friends smiled.
"It's alright. Exchange programs have lower standards. Not everyone can keep up with Greyford curriculum."
Her friend, a red-haired girl with similar expression chimed in.
"Though he did score well on the academic assessment."
