Chapter 176 - Keys for Four Adults

Our twenty-four-hour hold began at three Tuesday afternoon and ended before any person touched a key. The agent scheduled an evening inspection, air-quality test, live video tour, plus lease review inside that narrow window. One rushed signature could turn our first shared home into an expensive argument with plumbing.

The property packet looked beautiful because property packets were paid to look beautiful. Nina had already found an unexplained utility estimate, Thea wanted certified ventilation records, and Yuna distrusted every photograph without visible corners.

I wanted the place enough to feel that desire pushing against my judgment. Wanting it meant I needed the other three adults to become more demanding, not less inconvenient.

Nina arrived first from her internship office with a measuring tape and printed transit schedule. Thea carried a portable air monitor, while I brought the signed hold terms instead of furniture fantasies.
