Nina placed her threshold list facedown beside the agreement, while Thea kept hers beneath both hands. The blank page waiting in front of me looked suspiciously similar to every examination paper I had ever hoped would grade itself.
"Before either answer, I want the assumption removed. Accepting Thea did not create a membership policy requiring us to accept Yuna," Nina said, tapping the document with one red-painted nail.
"Agreed," I replied, writing the sentence at the top of the empty page.
The words appeared severe enough to tighten my chest, although their fairness had never been in question. I wanted Yuna, yet desire could not turn two existing girlfriends into approval departments whose only ethical option was eventual surrender.
"If either of you says no, I will not pursue her inside our current agreement. I may need to decide whether this relationship structure still fits me, but I will not punish either answer," I said.
