Chapter 1: Arrival
Chapter Text
What is this?
A new story?
A new tale to be told?
Why, I do believe it is!
And one that's Kingdom Hearts and me showing my blatant favoritism towards a certain moody Nobody who's my favorite character from the franchise. Because of course it would be Roxas.
This has been festering in my mind for a while until I just had to empty it out. And HOPEFULLY, this one won't be a massive undertaking like all the other stories my partners and I are already working on. We're insane.
But let's get this party started!

Heart of the Dragon Chapter 1: Arrival.
Dragons.
A symbol of power, one that many claim to be invincible in the eyes of mortal men. They could turn armies to ash and raze castles and fortresses into molten slag.
And they were the main power behind House Targaryen, the ruling dynasty of the continent of Westeros.
Speaking of Dragons…
High in the skies above, a winged blur streaked through the air, wings beating against the wind, climbing higher and higher until it breached through the clouds above. It let out a roar of joy once flying above the clouds, taking a moment to bask in the air before diving down at full speed.
On its back was a rider with silver-gold hair and intense violet eyes, with a smile so wide it threatened to split her face.
This was Rhaenyra Targaryen, Princess of Westeros and sole daughter to the King of the Seven Kingdoms, Viserys Targaryen. Riding her faithful dragon, Syrax, the Princess flew above the capital of Westeros, King's Landing. Down below, the people of the city went about their daily tasks, duties, and lives, some only giving passing glances at the dragon above, having long since been accustomed to the great beasts of the Targaryen dynasty.
With a quick roar, Syrax began to climb higher into the air, her rider closing her eyes with a wide smile, relishing the feeling of the wind on her face. Making sure she was strapped safely on, Rhaenyra spread her arms out, letting out a whoop of joy, her tied-up hair rapidly flowing behind her.
Once reaching past the clouds, Syrax fell into a gentle glide, her wings idly brushing past the condensed water in the air. Rhaenyra released a satisfied sigh, leaning on her harness to reach forward, her hand gently rubbing the back of her dragon's neck. She heard what she would compare to a purr emanating from Syrax from this action, and she smiled in contentment.
She let out another breath, feeling some tension she had alleviated from her body, and took a moment to sit back up and stretch. The Princess of the Red Keep felt the satisfying pops of her spine, releasing that tingling sensation of relief that made her giggle slightly.
Now fully relaxed, Rhaenyra idly bobbed her head side-to-side, humming to herself as she allowed this moment of reprieve and serenity to wash over. Being a Princess of Westeros had its many perks, but court can be exhausting.
All those schemes, plotting's, empty platitudes, and false smiles. It was trifling and headache-inducing.
Flying Syrax was one of the few reprieves Rhaenyra was always able to have despite being the firstborn and only child of the King. One would think that life would be easy, and for the most part, it was. Rhaenyra wasn't blind to the privileges and benefits afforded to her.
But by the Seven, the Old gods and Valyrian Gods, the people of Court can be damn near unbearable.
"What do you think, girl?" Rhaenyra wistfully asked. "Do you wish to fly away to Essos? Scour the great Dothraki Sea? Be the masters of our own lives forevermore?"
Her dragon let out a warble, and despite her not knowing what she said, Rhaenyra understood well enough.
"We could try at least." She playfully argued, and Syrax huffed in disbelief, briefly glancing back at her.
Rhaenyra rolled her eyes, a teasing smirk directed at her dragon. "Yes, I understand. Leaving such a pampered lifestyle would drive you mad."
There was an affronted warble that came from the dragon, eliciting a laugh from her rider. After all, as Rhaenyra thought about it now, affording all of the livestock for Syrax to have would be nightmarish without the royal treasury.
"Come on." Rhaenyra encouraged. "I know you've been anxious to go for more."
Syrax's mood shifted, excitement palpable from the yellow-scaled wyrm, flapping her wings several times before folding them back, divebombing through the clouds. Rhaenyra laughed, clutching onto her harness tightly as the feeling of weightlessness briefly came over her from her dragon's dive.
The Dragon Princess saw the waves of Blackwater Bay below after flying through the clouds, and just as Syrax was a few yards above the water, she unfurled her wings, drastically slowing her descent. It was a hard stop, yet Rhaenyra had already braced herself for it, having pressed her entire body down upon her harness. Now, Syrax fell into a gentle glide, heading towards a nearby shoreline.
Reaching the sandy shores, Syrax landed with Rhaenyra, gracefully sliding off, landing on the uneven ground with ease.
"Guess you were feeling stifled," Rhaenyra remarked, Syrax letting out a warble, stretching out her neck, and shaking her body to decompress.
The young Targaryen took a breath, the air here less pungent and stench-ridden than in the capital. She could still smell some of the traces as King's Landing was within her sights, but it was a welcome reprieve.
Rhaenyra was about to take a moment to sit down on the sandy ground when Syrax suddenly perked her head up, the dragon releasing a curious trill with her eyes gazing down at the shoreline.
"What is it, girl?" Rhaenyra inquired, sensing something from her dragon.
Syrax looked around when her head snapped to the right and lumbered forward. Curious, her rider was quick to follow the wyrm. Her dragon guided her down the beach until Rhaenyra spotted something, or rather, someone, lying on the sand. The girl paused, blinking in slight surprise at the sight, seeing that the person lying on the beach was a young teen. Despite the distance, Rhaenyra was quick to deduce that the teen was a boy and, from the looks of it, likely around her age.
Coming closer to him, she wondered if this boy was part of some shipwreck and had washed ashore. If that were the case, it confused her as there hadn't been any storms taking place in the past few days. Nor were there any reports of a shipwreck, at least to her knowledge.
The only ones she could think of at this point in time was the ongoing situation in the Stepstones, but she didn't give it much thought.
In fact, that was leagues away. So the obvious question on her mind was just who this boy was. There could be a myriad of answers, but for the moment, Rhaenyra took the time to get a better look at the teen and saw that the clothing he wore was one of the strangest she had ever seen.
It only took a single glance to realize that she had truly never seen such garments or fashion, and King's Landing was a place where one would find clothing from many parts of Westeros and Essos.
This young teen wore a high-collared, zippered black shirt with a four-pointed zipper with a unique symbol and a thick grey hem. Over this, the boy had on a short white jacket with a checkered line across the chest, back, and arm sockets, and black hems on its sleeves. The jacket has a folded-back, pleated red collar. He has baggy, two-colored pants with beige legs attached to the dark grey-brown top portion with silver rivets, and grey-and-black shoes with red straps in place of laces. The boy also had on interesting accessories, including a black-edged, checkerboard-patterned wristband on his left wrist, as well as a black and a white ring on his left index and middle fingers, respectively.
Suffice it to say, this was the most unique set of clothes Rhaenyra had ever seen anyone wear. And that was just his clothing.
Rhaenyra gazed at his face, specifically, his blond spiky hair, having never seen a style like it in her entire life. It seemed to defy gravity, and she wondered just how he managed to get it to that shape.
'It can't be natural, can it?' She internally questioned. 'I don't know if it's because of the water but… it appears dry.'
The Valyrian girl then sensed something… unusual. Reaching up to her chest, Rhaenyra felt something strange coming from there. She didn't know what this sudden feeling was but upon seeing the boy, this odd sensation came over her that was growing slowly with every passing second.
She wondered just what in the world was this as she had never experienced anything like this, even after her first flight with Syrax. There was a sense of trepidation now but her curiosity overriding her caution. She moved closer to the unconscious teen, slowly going down to her knees. She saw his chest rising and falling slowly, indicating he was at least alive.
'No weapons.' The Valyrian mentally noted.
No nothing, really, other than his bizarre appearance.
There was a moment of uncertainty as Rhaenyra stared at the teen, taking note of his features. Now that she had gotten a closer look at him, her earlier assessment of him being close to her age seemed to ring true. At least, that's her assumption. His sandy blond hair made her wonder if he was perhaps of Lannister descent, but she quickly discarded that thought. He looked nothing like them. On top of that, she may not know the boy, but his face didn't look as pompous, smug, or arrogant as most Lannister's she had seen and met.
After a few seconds of debating on what to do next, she cautiously placed a hand on the boy's shoulder.
"Hello?" She awkwardly spoke, unsure of what to do here other than give a slight shake of his shoulder. "Are you alright?"
He didn't respond, his body remaining motionless, and his expression didn't indicate any sign of him being conscious. Rhaenyra frowned, now unsure as to what to do next. So she tried again.
"Hello?" The Princess shook him a bit more this time, placing her hand on his chest. "Please, wake up."
She felt a bit silly in asking such a question, but it was the first thing that came to mind. And she hoped the young man wasn't dead as it would be quite unsettling for her.
Rhaenyra wondered what she could do next when suddenly, the boy let out a small sound and began to shift. She then paused momentarily, finding herself unable to speak. There was a sense of anticipation as she watched the boy slowly awaken.
The strangely clothed teen groaned, his face momentarily scrunching up in slight discomfort before his eyes slowly opened. Rhaenyra couldn't help but marvel at the set of striking blue eyes the boy had, almost enraptured by them until she cleared her throat.
"Steady now," She calmly advised. "You look like you've had a rough landing."
"Landing?" He murmured out, blearily looking around, his vision slowly clearing until he got a proper look at Rhaenyra.
"Namine?" The boy said in confusion when he got a better look at the girl. "Wait… no… your eyes…"
Suddenly, the boy winced, throwing a hand up to his head. He grunted, leaning forward, eyes tightly shut.
"Are you alright?" Rhaenyra asked, disregarding his use of a different name for her. She wondered just who this Namine was, but that was a question for another time.
He didn't respond, shaking his head until whatever ailed him seemingly subsided.
"Sorry…" He murmured, making her blink. "It's just-"
"It's alright," Rhaenyra assured. "Just take a moment."
The blond teen glanced at her with an appreciative smile, one that made the Dragon Princess a bit flustered. She was surprised by how easily her face heated up at this small smile. She had been used to seeing smiles directed at her all her life, but growing up in the Red Keep, she learned that most smiles and pleasantries were nothing but falsehoods and mummers' performances. Only her father, mother, uncle, and closest friend ever gave her true smiles that she could see.
So, for a stranger like this boy to give her a genuine one, and one who was rather handsome, it was honestly refreshing.
After a moment, the teen seemed to have recovered, and he turned to speak with Rhaenyra when something big and scaly caught his eye past the girl.
"What… what is that?" He muttered, eyes widening at the sight of a yellow-scaled wyrm, who was gazing at him intently.
Rhaenyra glanced at Syrax, raising a slight brow as she looked back at the teen.
"That's a dragon." She said, evidently surprised by his query. "You've never seen a dragon?"
He shook his head in slight wonder.
Stranger and more interesting this boy became for the Dragon Princess. Who hasn't heard of dragons? They might be an exceedingly rare sight in Essos, but in Westeros, especially in the southern kingdoms, dragons were a common sight in the air. The entire world told tales and stories of the winged wyrms that were fire made flesh.
Having been so absorbed by the sight of the dragon, he didn't hear the Princess clear her throat the first time until she did so louder the second time, making him face her again.
She held out the back of her hand to him, a practiced gesture befitting her status as royalty.
"I am Princess Rhaenyra of House Targaryen." She introduced herself in a regal manner that seemed to go over his head.
The teen stared at her hand inquisitively before taking hold of it and shaking it, causing her to blink at this gesture.
"I'm Roxas." He casually said in turn, releasing her hand afterwards, making Rhaenyra tilt her head slightly, giving him a bemused smile. After a moment, he appeared to register the title she had attached to her name. "Wait, Princess? You're a Princess?"
His sudden query made the girl laugh at his surprise.
'He certainly is an interesting one.' She internally remarked.
"Is it hard to believe?" She jokingly asked.
Roxas scratched the side of his head. "I mean, maybe? I don't know, I've never met a princess before, so… I guess I just wanted to make sure."
Actually, as he thought about it now, he saw a few in the past but never really interacted with them before. So this was a first for him.
Rhaenyra couldn't help but laugh abruptly. This conversation/meeting was not going the way she thought it would. And she found it entertaining and fresh. It wasn't every day she met someone who didn't know she was a Princess.
"Well, I can tell you for certain that I am indeed a Princess as my father is the King." She quipped in an amused tone. "I would like to think I am presentable enough as a Princess. My family wouldn't see it any other way.
"And your dad is a King…" Roxas murmured, frowning in thought. "King of what?"
Rhaenyra's amusement faded, being replaced with open surprise. She stared at the boy for a brief moment of silence, almost not believing the question. Did he not know where he was? Or just who the Targaryen's are? At first, she assumed him to be playing a part or acting a fool but when one grows up in the court of King's Landing, being able to perceive falsehoods and mummer's acts was absolutely necessary if one were to grow up in that den of snakes and foxes.
And seeing his overall posture and demeanor was enough for her to realize that it appeared his questions to be genuine. Shaking her head, the Princess answered the teen.
"My father is Viserys I Targaryen, the King of Westeros. He rules over the Andals, the Rhoynar, and the First Men as the Protector of the Realm." Her tone conveyed evident pride that did little to impress her new "friend".
"That's a mouthful." Was Roxas' response, breaking Rhaenyra's 'regal' authority. She blinked again at his words before snorting in an unladylike fashion, amusement dancing in her eyes.
"If you are to be King, one needs many titles." Rhaenyra plainly said, and she saw him shrug.
"I'll take your word for it."
Again, Rhaenyra found herself bemused by this teen's words. He was a strange one, to be sure, his demeanor and character being far more interesting than the clothes he wore. Speaking of which, she was about to ask just what he was wearing when she saw him hiss throwing his hand up to his head. Instead of staying seated on the sandy floor, Roxas forced himself to stand, as though this would help him stave off this sudden apparent ache in the head. He wobbled slightly, and Rhaenyra stood up quickly, instinctively reaching out to grab hold of his hand in case he might lose balance and fall.
"Easy now." She softly said.
Roxas winced slightly, his right eye closed with his left eye squinting until the vertigo subsided.
"Whew," He shook his head, feeling his head clear. He turned to Rhaenyra, shooting her an appreciative smile until he took stock of his surroundings.
"Where are we?" He found himself asking.
"Blackwater Bay," Rhaenyra answered. "We're not far from King's Landing."
As she said this, she pointed to the capital of Westeros, Roxas gazing in that direction.
"Whoa," He murmured, seeing the grand structure of the Red Keep overlooking the city below, until he took a whiff of the air and his nose recoiled. His hands shot up to his nose, covering it protectively. "Urgh, what is that smell?!"
Rhaenyra smiled sympathetically, patting his shoulder.
"Yes, it is unpleasant." She remarked in understanding. "You're lucky you're here because when you're in the city itself, it can be quite repulsive."
"That's from the city? Do you live there?" Roxas couldn't help but ask, seeing a sheepish smile appear. "You deal with that every day? How is your nose still attached to your face?"
That question made Rhaenyra throw her head back in laughter, having never heard such a query. When hearing this, she couldn't help but ask the same thing.
"I guess I'm made of sturdier stuff." She joked, flicking her nose slightly, seeing him huff with a small smile appearing until he frowned.
Curious about this sudden shift in mood, Rhaenyra asked, "Is something wrong?"
There was a troubled expression on his face, tilting his head down. Rhaenyra silently watched as he raised his right hand and placed it over his chest, a troubled look coming over him, and his hand slowly clenched into a tight fist.
There was a flicker of anger, doubt, sorrow, and loss, all within the span of a few seconds.
"Roxas?" Rhaenyra spoke up, breaking him out of his thoughts.
He blinked, looking up at her with an apologetic expression.
"Sorry," He murmured. "Just… sorry."
The Princess found it a bit off-putting that someone she had just met was apologizing to her. Some might call her strange for thinking it or rather… she actually didn't know what to make of this interaction. He was a curiosity that deepened with every passing second, and Rhaenyra wanted to know why.
The Dragon Princess didn't know how to explain it, but… There was a strange feeling in her chest, coming directly from her Heart. Rhaenyra didn't understand this sensation, deducing that her meeting him was the likely source of this experience. It was strange how she was feeling all this and all within the span of a few minutes upon meeting this strange boy. She was about to ask what was bothering him when someone else butted into the conversation.
Syrax suddenly let out a trilling sound, reminding the pair of her presence. She lumbered forward, her eyes locked onto Roxas, who was anxious yet seemingly unafraid. The Dragon drew in close and inhaled the teen's scent several times, a warble of what could be equated to interest emanating from her throat. Normally, Rhaenyra would tell her dragon to be calm or for Roxas to step away, but seeing how Syrax was behaving towards the blue-eyed teen stayed her hand. She could sense no hostility from Syrax, only the same curiosity she held towards Roxas, and watched as her dragon continued to take in his scent.
Syrax continued her brief inspection of the boy until she let out a small rumble, her neck shaking from the sound. Rhaenyra watched as her dragon pushed her snout against his chest several times, though not in an aggressive way.
"H-hey," Roxas said in surprise, placing his hand over her nose. "Easy there."
Syrax trilled in contentment, nudging herself against him several more times until he began rubbing her snout. She warbled with a satisfied hum, slowly setting herself down in front of him. Roxas found himself chuckling slightly at this action, despite his initial reservation. Glancing over at Rhaenyra, he saw that she was staring at him in wide-eyed shock.
"Wh-What?" He stammered, thrown off by her intense gaze.
Within Rhaenyra's mind, a flurry of thoughts and emotions ran wild as she was processing what she had just witnessed.
Even though Syrax was one of the more tolerant dragons of her House, she was still very much opposed to anyone who wasn't Valyrian or a dragon keeper approaching her. But now, to see her like this, so willingly and almost like a cat or dog would to their owner, behave towards this teen she found washed up upon this beach…
Far, far too many questions ran through her mind, and she wanted answers to them all.
Syrax let out a sound akin to a purr, rising up to take a whiff of Roxas's scent once more. The dragon then tilted her head, her eyes conveying what looked like confusion, something Rhaenyra mirrored. Syrax released another warble, and if her rider didn't know any better, it almost sounded like she was trying to ask Roxas something in her own way.
"What is it, girl?" Rhaenyra asked in High Valyrian, missing the curious look from Roxas.
Syrax gazed at the blond for a few moments before turning to her rider, surprising her with what looked like an expectant look. Rhaenyra didn't quite understand what was happening at this time, but she sensed that meeting Roxas here wasn't just a coincidence. If Syrax was reacting to him the way she is now, it was clear that he was someone special.
And for the Dragon Princess, he now had her curiosity and attention.
"Roxas," She turned back to the teen who was standing there, somewhat awkwardly now that both she and Syrax stared at him. "Where are you from?"
The boy opened his mouth to answer, when a look of conflict, anger, and sorrow fell over him, and he dipped his head.
"I… I don't know anymore." He quietly said. "The place I thought was home… was a lie. And before then, it wasn't much one now that I think about it. Now, I don't even have a place to call home."
Even more questions for the princess, but that did nothing to deter her; it only reinforced her growing interest in him.
"Then," She took a step forward. "You have no place to stay?"
Roxas looked up at her with an inquisitive gaze. "Uh… I guess?"
"Perfect!" She declared, quickly moving to climb up on Syrax, seating herself on her saddle and looking at Roxas expectantly, holding out her hand. "Come with me."
He blinked. "What?"
Rhaenyra huffed slightly, a bit impatient, shaking her hand emphatically.
"Come with me." She said again, stressing her words. "I'll take you back to the Red Keep."
He seemed somewhat reserved but took a step forward nonetheless.
"What? Why?" He asked in bewilderment. "We just met."
"And you just did something I've never seen anyone else do." Rhaenyra retorted, briefly retracting her hand to pet her dragon's neck. "In all my years, I've never seen Syrax or any dragon, for that matter, react the way she did to you. I am the Blood of the Dragon, and yet, Syrax seems to be taken with you upon just meeting you. That alone is enough to extend the offer."
Roxas still seemed hesitant. "Because of what your dragon did? Why would that-"
"Do you intend on doing anything else?"
The sudden question caught him flatfooted.
"Huh?" He dumbly responded.
Rhaenyra was both amused and exasperated now, rolling her eyes at his face, holding out her hand again.
"Are you going to be going anywhere or doing anything else? Because from what I see, it seems to be neither at this point in time." She pointed out, thrusting her hand slightly for emphasis.
Roxas opened and closed his mouth a few times, clearly conflicted on what to do until he let out a small sigh, shrugging and going over to the Princess and Dragon. Syrax made a chuffing noise, lowering herself to allow for easier access for the teen. The boy smiled slightly at this gesture, getting up on the saddle with surprising ease from the Princess's point of view, finding enough space for himself behind Rhaenyra.
He glanced down and around, arms up slightly, looking for something to grip. "So… how do I-"
"Hold on," Rhaenyra said, holding the reins of her saddle tightly. "Sōvēs!"
Roxas yelped slightly from Syrax's sudden movement, the dragon unfurling her wings. She lowered herself slightly before launching into the air, flapping her wings, rapidly gaining height. The blue-eyed teen latched onto Rhaenyra, wrapping his arms around her waist.
She laughed, unbothered by his arms around her, encouraging Syrax to go faster. Soon she felt his hold tighter from the sudden jolt with the acceleration. She took a glance back at Roxas, seeing him slightly overwhelmed by the sudden elevation, until it turned into wonder once Syrax leveled out, gliding through the air. Strangely enough, Rhaenyra saw a flash of familiarity in his eyes that only compounded upon everything she wanted to ask him.
Turning back to King's Landing, Rhaenyra subtly nudged Syrax to fly back to the dragon pit, reaching it in a few short minutes. Like many times before, the Princess saw the ever faithful, loyal, and dutiful Kingsguard member waiting for her return.
Ser Harrold Westerling held a relieved smile at the sight of her return, which immediately shifted into a curious frown upon seeing that the Princess had not returned alone. One which was shared by the Dragonkeepers.
Rhaenyra effortlessly slid off Syrax, landing on the ground with practiced ease, and turned back to see if Roxas needed assistance when she was surprised by him jumping from the saddle and landing with no difficulties. She let out a small, impressed hum, going over to Syrax and scratching the bottom of her chin.
"Rest up, my dear." Rhaenyra kindly said in Valyrian, hearing her dragon produce a rumbling purr.
Roxas gazed at the dragon, who sensed his eyes upon her, craning her serpentine neck in his direction. She seemed to be giving him an expectant look, one he picked up on.
"Oh, uh… thanks for the ride, Syrax." Roxas awkwardly said, though his tone was genuine.
Letting out a satisfactory huff, Syrax followed the Dragonkeepers, who guided her into the dragon pit while Rhaenyra greeted the Kingsguard.
"Something on your mind, Ser Harrold?" She teasingly asked.
The knight released a small 'hmph' of mirth at his princess's wit, looking past her at Roxas, who he eyed with curiosity and suspicion.
"I believe you could forgive my cautiousness, Princess." He spoke with respect. "I saw you leave on dragon back by yourself, only to return with a stranger with the strangest garments I have ever seen."
"Nothing to forgive, Ser," Rhaenyra said in a friendly tone. "This is a new friend I've made. Syrax actually helped me find him, and she seemed quite taken with him."
The Lord Commander of the Kingsguard raised his brow slightly, now regarding the teen with a growing degree of intrigue, but also wariness.
"Was she now?" He said in a guarded tone. "And what is your name, boy?"
"Roxas." He politely answered.
"Roxas?" Harrold parroted, a confused frown marring his features. "That is… an unusual name. Where did you find him, Princess?"
"Along the shoreline of Blackwater Bay," Rhaenyra answered. "Actually, it was Syrax that led me to him."
Ser Westerling's eyes narrowed now with suspicion and intrigue He directed his gaze at Rhaenyra's dragon, which lumbered into the dragon pit, then back at Roxas.
The boy seemed… Well, he didn't seem unassuming. The clothing alone made him stand out, as did his spiky hair that the Knight had never seen before and striking blue eyes that would put any Baratheon's to shame.
'Her dragon led her to him?' Were his curious and cautious thoughts.
The boy appeared unassuming.
Somewhat.
His clothing was strange, his hair defied gravity, and those eyes of his could give any Baratheon a run for their gold dragons. And then there was his name. What kind of name was Roxas?
He wished to question the boy, but the Princess had already taken hold of his wrist, an action that clearly surprised him.
"Come on." She eagerly said, pulling on his arm. "I'll show you around the Red Keep."
Despite his suspicion, Ser Harrold couldn't help but chuckle under his breath at the sight of the boy appearing to be embarrassed at Rhaenyra taking hold of him so excitedly and all but dragging him towards the Red Keep. The Princess was always a willful girl, seldom taking no for an answer. Once something had caught her attention or interest, woe be to those who would stand before her. Even her father and mother had difficulties reigning in their spitfire of a daughter.
Still, the Kingsguard member found himself sharing Rhaenyra's interest in the boy, albeit in his own reserved manner. If her dragon was what led her to him, then there must be something special about him. He was an observant man, a trait he had long developed over the many decades of service under the Targaryen Dynasty and he had learned a long time ago that dragons were far more intelligent than they seemed.
Just as much as the rider can command them, they maintained their own independence, their own habits, thoughts and patterns. Dragons are never truly controlled, they are guided. It was something his King once told him in private many years ago. It was why Ser Harrold respected their power so much.
So for Rhaenyra to reveal that Syrax held an interest in the boy both unsettled and intrigued the veteran knight.
For now, he would stow away his concerns and simply keep an eye on the boy. He watched from behind as Rhaenyra kept pulling him along until he humorously complained that she was going to pull his arm off if she kept tugging at him the way she did.
Ser Harrold quietly 'hmphed', an amused smirk gracing his aged features.
'Perhaps this boy will be a refreshing change of pace for the Princess.' The Kingsguard mused to himself.
How little did the Knight realize just how much change was about to occur in the Seven Kingdoms.
AN
And scene.
Welcome everyone to a brand new crossover, one of many I've always wanted to do, something I've mentioned before and for a while, I wanted to do my own rendition of Game Of Thrones mixed with Kingdom Hearts like Jeb and I are already doing with A Song of Fire, Ice and Hearts. But I figured that we're already doing that with that story, so instead of it taking place in the initial events of Game of Thrones/A Song of Ice and Fire, it's occurring in House of the Dragon. And hopefully things will be better than what the few issues the initial show has with what will occur.
For the most part, what I can say is that this story, as always, will be an AU with a lot of different twists and turns and more importantly, at least, what we figure, is that this story will not be as long as our other planned and currently running works. We know for the most part that all our other stories will be pretty lengthy on their own but this will be relatively short.
But just know, I use "relatively" in a loose manner. It'll be shorter compared to our other works but no less decently sized. Tell you more about the whole process of how this story came about later. For now, we hope you all enjoy this small intro slice to what we hope turns into a fun and engaging story.
Until next time.
