A New Life [TbatexTensura]
Asuryii
Chapter 15: Records of {???}
Summary:
This chapter doesn't fit as well in this format, the Ao3 format but to make it easier to understand.
I write this story in a volume-esque chapter styled format. This Chapter is detached from Volume 1: A Change of View. This chapter is a part of its own thing entirely in a sense- a little tidbit that even Wattpad readers didn't get but here I will share is that all of the 'Records' chapters are an integral part of the stories lore and background, they create the bigger picture that filled in the missed pieces to the main stories puzzle.
So think of this as Record 1, as opposed to Chapter 15 or if you like to think of it as 15 that works too. Whatever makes the most sense to you.
Chapter Text
Records of {???}:
—------------------------------------------------------------------------
Go back. Further and further. The questions of reality and the truths of nature stand barenaked before all, waiting to be seen by those who dare to dissect the past. So much of life and reality remains misunderstood—lost in the haze of overlooked details and undiscovered secrets.
You fail to notice the unseen, the unconsidered. The cracks in the fabric of existence are there, but you've never glanced at them—never given them a chance to catch your eye. And so, fate becomes a convenient illusion, a construct for the weak and powerless to cling to, a desperate hope that life will one day turn itself around. But no, no, such perspectives are flawed, twisted.
Fate, like luck, is something you grasp. It is a thread you pull, a shape you mold with your own hands. Yet, even as you mold it, it molds you. It defines you. You are bound by its golden threads, those delicate chains that hold you in their grasp, and by the crimson strings that tie you to others. To your fated be.
But I despise fate. The idea of being shackled—bound by the whim of some incomprehensible, incompetent force that dares to dictate the course of life—repulses me. People prattle endlessly about freedom, about free will, yet they are anything but free. They are slaves to fate, to destiny, to reason, and to logic.
I am not. I am free in every sense, unshackled, unbound. I am what I wish to be, when I wish to be it, and how I wish to be it. Destiny, reason, logic, physics—they mean nothing to me. They are nothing to me.
I am everything and nothing. Someone and no one. I am an existence paradox—illogical yet tethered to logic, eternal yet transient. I exist as me, yet I do not live as anything singular. I am human only in metaphor, in shadow; I am inhuman in the same breath. I exist, but I do not live. I die, but my death is never final.
I am a puddle of water, stagnant and dark, reflecting faces that are not my own. A flickering lamp in a room with no walls, casting shadows that dance to a soundless tune. A barking dog with teeth too sharp, its growls echoing in empty streets. A maiden dancing by a fountain, her movements too perfect, too unnatural to be human. A young boy chasing a ball that rolls forever into the abyss. An old man flipping through a newspaper that bleeds ink, staining his fingers black.
I am the hound devouring its prey, and the prey as it screams in silence. The sleeping giant entombed in frost, whose breath fogs the glass of forgotten windows. The shadow lurking just beyond the edge of sight, where the brave dare not look. I am the simple man strolling down the street, but his footsteps leave no sound, no trace.
I am the whisper that worms into your thoughts, twisting them into shapes you cannot recognize. The mirror that reflects a version of you that should not exist. The creak of the floorboards in an empty house. The laugh that echoes in a room where no one stands. I am the hum that drowns out the voices of reason, the static that fills the void when everything else falls silent.
I am not bound to one form, one idea, one truth. I am everything and nothing, endlessly malleable yet wholly unyielding. I am the whisper in the dark that makes your skin crawl, the glimpse of motion at the corner of your eye that is gone when you turn. I am the breath of wind that extinguishes the flame, the hollow echo of a voice that calls your name.
I am the foundation of nightmares, the harbinger of truths too twisted to comprehend. I am the realization that the world is not as it seems. I am the fracture in the perfect illusion of existence, and the endless void that lies beyond it.
The only chains I wear are the ones I forge for myself.
I was born on the most cursed day of the year, though to me, it is the most blessed. I am both the most blessed and the most cursed being alive. I am one with nothing, except for that which I choose to unite with. I follow no creed but the one I carve into my own flesh, into my being, into the very essence of what I am and am not. I am only what I will myself to be.
I will never again be bound by fate. Let it hunt me, let it try to purge me.
It will fail. Fate cannot purge that which it cannot bind. Fate cannot touch me.
I am free.

"Arkanus, you will die someday. You are certainly aware of his desires and goals." The white haired man, focused on watering a small patch of violet and golden petaled flowers, paused for a moment. He turned towards me, a small soft smile painted on his face.
"I am certainly aware. But I don't mind it, it is saddening this is true- I just see no reason to deny it. Fate, you can deny fate all you want. I accept my fate, my future." His voice was laced with sadness but acceptance, a small soft smile painted on his lips and a remorseful look in his eyes.
"Are you sure about this Arkanus? My friend, you don't need to di-" Arkanus shook his head a few times, his hair swaying softly. He placed his hand reassuringly on my shoulder before speaking. "Fate. My friend, I have no real qualms with the future laid before me. I only regret that you will live on– living on for untold eternities remembering the friends you lost along the way, but at least you will not be alone. Velzra. She seems to be resolute in being with you. You're aware of what I call you, 'The Nameless God From Beyond'. But regardless of titles, aliases, and names you're given– you don't need to feel shackled to the past, or alone." Arkanus lifted his hand from my shoulder, a small imprint left in my clothes where his hand was placed. He turned his back to me and faced the small garden he was watering a moment before.
"I accept my fate, my future, my demise. I am one who loves and cherishes fate. I hope you can respect my wishes. Please Fate, don't ask me to deny the fate- the future laid before me. I wish to die as a seed for the future to bloom from." My fists clenched tightly for a moment before I gave up– and my clenching fist settled. I was against fate, but my friend Arkanus accepted fate.
I call myself Fate to mock the idea of fate, to express that I am the fate I make for myself and to be the incarnation of the path I walk. But my friend– he is one with fate, a proprietor of it. "I respect your wishes, this is the end, old friend. I will not forget you."
"I hope you do truthfully, but I know you won't. So at the very least– live the life you want to live, now that you can. Leave Epheotus, you are shackled living here." I merely nodded, leaving with a single wave goodbye- this was the last time I would see Arkanus, tomorrow he was destined to die, a fate he would not challenge. An end he accepted.
A single mention of my existence lived in Arkanus' journals, in his personal records.
'A man who goes by the name of Fate- a man who grew to be my only friend and closest companion; a lonely and determined man, one who defies and denies the notions of fate. He never told me his real name, just that he goes by Fate. He does all he can to make a mockery of the idea of fate, and find entertainment. I know of his incomprehensible and illogical nature and existence- the truth of his life and being evades me. As such I will remember his forever as- The Nameless God From Beyond. A godly figure, one beyond even we Asuras that came from outside of Epheotus- A figure who was so immensely powerful, that he grew to be the most isolated being alive. Fate- a god. A god who was nothing but a lonely boy. I do wonder if he and Alestra will tie the knot– for his sake, his sanity I hope they do.'
Arkanus, my friend. He was a wise man, yet a fool all the same. I can't begin to understand why he would willingly die for the future when he could just live and forge it on his own. He and I shared differing perspectives; contradicting ideas but- I respected him all the same.
Sadly he never realized- Velzra and I, we had been forever intertwined for a long time– long before he and I ever met. Or was it after?
Regardless, my dearest friend Arkanus- rest in peace, I will not forget you and your perspectives.
