For Peter, in fact, most of the time he felt that it wasn't particularly necessary for Anansi to have that spider bite him. He had always believed that the single bite was purely used to defend against Otto's reversion serum and to increase the complexity of his own DNA, while shadow vision was useless under most circumstances.
However, shadow vision played a massive role in dealing with Gorgon. Gorgon's mutant ability was to petrify opponents through eye contact. Therefore, the best candidate to deal with Gorgon originally would have been Matt. But since Matt was currently deep undercover, the best person to handle him became Peter, who possessed shadow vision combined with his spider-sense.
At this very moment, within the cramped space, Gorgon slashed his katana repeatedly at Peter, continuously compressing his opponent's room to maneuver. He was incredibly surprised by Spider-Man's agile movements. Although he had known long ago that Spider-Man possessed some sort of natural sensory ability to evade danger, actually witnessing this ability firsthand still caught him greatly by surprise.
This, in turn, could not help but make him feel annoyed. Had he known earlier, he should have postponed the plan and waited to act until Spider-Man was not in Hell's Kitchen!
Wait, was Spider-Man being in Hell's Kitchen today really just an accident?
Thinking of this point, Gorgon felt a jolt in his heart, and while swinging his long blade, he questioned aloud, "Spider-Man, why are you in Hell's Kitchen?"
"Funnily enough, I'm currently investigating a CIA agent who smuggles human trafficking victims to you guys—probably a Hydra guy too. He just happened to be in Hell's Kitchen today. Hey, did you notify him?"
Gorgon froze for a moment. He could tell that Spider-Man was not lying, and because of this, he grew even more furious. He certainly knew that the raw materials he used to create undead ninjas were delivered through various means, but the problem was, he had never expected this group of idiots to come here so abruptly today!
What a bunch of useless trash that can achieve nothing but spoil everything!
Gorgon cursed angrily, then continued his assault on Spider-Man. The Godkiller blade was swung continuously in his hands. There were several times when Peter was almost slashed, but almost was just almost.
This weapon called the Godkiller was handed to Gorgon by Kraken. It was said to be an artifact forged by the Skyfather Zeus of Mount Olympus, with the specific purpose of slaying gods. This weapon, which could freely alter its shape, had been turned into a more convenient katana by Gorgon and had already slain a sufficient number of enemies.
Yet today, it couldn't even touch Spider-Man.
"I guess as a ninja, or a samurai, or whatever, you rarely deal with enemies who crawl on the ceiling, right?"
Peter clung to the ceiling of the Tenshu fortress, continuously firing web-lines down at Gorgon below. Gorgon's reactions were also quite rapid; dodging left and right, he wasn't hit at all. But by the same token, he had absolutely no way to deal with Spider-Man up on the ceiling. In fact, he even felt that Spider-Man was holding back against him entirely due to other reasons, which was why he wasn't committing to defeating him.
So what was it?
After repeatedly shooting webs, Peter finally seemed to grow tired of playing around. Unlike a spider, but rather like a cockroach, he swiftly scurried out from the ceiling of the Tenshu fortress, leaving behind a thoroughly bewildered Gorgon. Gorgon contacted the others, after which his face could not help but turn dark.
Outside the Tenshu fortress, Moon Knight and Typhoid Mary—two mental patients—were fighting tooth and nail. In the sewers, Silver Samurai had already lost his signal. And inside the Tenshu fortress, Lady Bullseye was currently dealing with the Defenders rushing up, trying to stop them from liberating Cloak.
Fires were breaking out everywhere! Trouble was being stirred up everywhere!
How the hell did this bunch of people happen to gather together so coincidentally?!
The more Gorgon thought about it, the angrier he became. It was precisely because The Hand was severely understaffed that they thought of using Shadowland to isolate the inside from the outside, reducing the number of enemies they needed to face. They had originally believed that the only ones they had to handle were the remaining three members of the Defenders.
Who knew it would all turn into a mess!
"Shrink the defensive line immediately. The resurrection ritual is about to begin. As long as the ritual succeeds, Daredevil will persuade his friends to go back."
Since the matter was not yet settled, Gorgon did not dare to speak with absolute certainty. Then, he continued, "Also, prepare the Norn Stones. Once things go wrong, we will leave immediately. Yes, even Shadowland cannot stop the teleportation of the Norn Stones."
Having said this, Gorgon looked at his surroundings. He always felt that Spider-Man and the woman he brought had some sort of conspiracy, but as for what it specifically was, he didn't know either.
Thinking of this, Gorgon felt an increasing sense of urgency in the situation, so he hurriedly ran off to protect Daredevil.
So, what exactly was Peter's plan?
The answer was, stealing.
"After all that trouble, the reason you told me to wait in Hell's Kitchen was for this," Gwen muttered as she hid in a certain corner of the Tenshu fortress and removed the Mysterio helmet. She seemed to really have a talent in this area, becoming more and more proficient the more she used it. Just now during Peter's battle with Gorgon, she was the one disrupting Gorgon's senses, thereby allowing Felicia to succeed in stealing the Norn Stone off Gorgon's person.
Not just the one on Gorgon, but also the one on Typhoid Mary who was going crazy outside, as well as Lady Bullseye's side which was about to be secured—all of them required Felicia's help. Originally, Peter hadn't planned on having Felicia come to help, but since they crossed paths, coming early couldn't compare to coming at just the right time, so they might as well do it together.
After all, Gwen was one of the people who knew about Matt's infiltration plan from the very beginning. Gwen had also participated in Elektra's fake death back then, which was why Peter had specially called Gwen over to help. Previously, just to be safe, Peter had also advised that if she planned to go anywhere to play the superhero today, Hell's Kitchen would be quite suitable.
He hadn't expected it to actually come in handy.
"If I'm not guessing wrong, Cindy, Flash, and Senior Jessica are probably here too. Nick Fury didn't let them participate in Homecoming, so he definitely deployed them all to Hell's Kitchen. Elektra's LMD was provided by Fury, so there's no reason for Fury not to stick his hand in this."
While Peter analyzed, he looked around curiously. "So now I'm even more curious. Why hasn't Fury's people shown up, and also, why is General Ross here?"
"You might as well be curious about how many of these little stones that can teleport anywhere they actually have. Stealing these things is not easy at all." Felicia said as she produced two Norn Stones. "Did your blind friend mention how many Norn Stones are left?"
"He did. To be absolutely safe, during today's ritual, The Hand will bring all of their Norn Stones with them. So we are all counting on you, Felicia. If you miss even one Norn Stone, all our previous efforts will be in vain."
The only response Peter received was the Black Cat's confident smile.
