Chapter 39 - Chapter Thirty-Nine

Kaeron didn't try to fight the wolfish grin that took hold of his face. The cool evening air blew strands of her hair toward him, and he found himself (as unnecessary as it was) leaning in a few inches to devour her scent. He wasn't surprised that she didn't smell of high-end perfumes like most normal beautiful women. There was nothing normal about her. Instead, she smelled like a rainy day, and he couldn't figure out why that turned him on so much.

She was dangerous in ways that he couldn't explain, but it felt as if one of the deities that he didn't believe in were both warning him to stay away from her and beckoning him to get even closer.

Clearly, he didn't heed the warning when he asked. "Was that your attempt at being funny?"

"Are you saying that I'm not?" She asked in mock offense, and Kaeron could swear that the smile she sported wasn't the false one she showed the world.

"Are you asking because you know that you're not?"

"All of my friends say I'm the funniest person they know." She exclaimed proudly, swiping the hair from out her face. Every move was deliberate and practiced, and Kaeron couldn't help but be awestruck by her perfectly crafted persona.

"Something tells me that you don't have enough friends for that to count." He scoffed.

She cocked her head to the side. "What makes you say that?"

He examined her for a moment, his eyes lingering on the brown of her sensuous lips a bit longer than he had intended. Fuck, she would wreck him if he ever truly let his guard down around her.

"Because you're the same as me." He answered honestly.

"Is that so?" She stared at him, a glimpse of the darkness that he recognized in himself flashing across her stormy depths. He held her gaze, his gut screaming at him. She wanted to show him what she had hidden away; the anger that she kept behind that impossibly beautiful mask, and despite the warning bells going off in his head that grew louder by the second, he still let his guard down just a little, showing her his own darkness.

"Yeah." The word came out breathy and quieter than he had meant it.

They continued to stare at each other a wordless conversation that he had only ever experienced with Lex before now happening with this strange, phenomenal woman.

Somebody cleared their throat, loud and obnoxious, like, as if trying to get his attention, and Kaeron growled at the interruption. The woman startled in his arm, remembering that they weren't alone, but instead of pulling away, she moved closer, resting her hands on his chest. His heart skipped a beat, and he muttered a curse.

He was Kaeron Lucian Deitas for crying out loud! His heart doesn't skip a beat unless it's from nearly escaping near death or something equally as intense.

He needed to get a hold of himself before he did something dumb.

"Who is he?" Kaeron asked, not looking away from her. The distraught look she gave him lit a fuse inside, and something dark ticked. He wanted.. no needed to bring back her smile.

"My name is none of your concern, firebreather." The man interjected, "but you should know that I work for Draefin, and she works for me, meaning this also does not concern you, unless I need to call Draefin?" He threatened.

Kaeron sensed that they were now surrounded by more goons but he never stopped looking at the woman. It was her choice now. All logic had vanished the moment the insect in front of them had dared to threaten him, but he wouldn't do anything unless she wanted it.

Time seemed to slow to heartbeats as they stared at each other lost in a silent symphony. He'd stay like this forever if she wished it.

"Can you kill anybody?" She finally asked in a whisper, breaking the silence.

Message received.

"Did you hear me fire.." That was all the man got out before Kaeron torched him, and all hell broke loose.

Lex bore her scowl like a sword. She didn't feel like talking with anybody right now, especially not the insufferable woman at the front desk who seemingly enjoyed arguing. Lillian stood behind her, messing with the braids that she had yet to finish. Lex might be in a mood, but she had learned her lesson from the last time she and Kaeron had left the girl alone, and so she had dragged her along after realizing that there were no towels in their room to dry off with.

She desperately wanted to bathe.

"It's. Your. Hotel. You have a duty to provide us with towels." She growled through gritted teeth.

"My duty?" The woman mocked. "I'm sorry, Your Highness. I'll strive to do better."

Lex officially loathed this bitch.

"Look," the woman shrugged lazily, "I'm not scheduled to get new towels for.." she looked down at her watch as if checking the time, "I don't know liie a week, maybe two, so you'll just have to go buy your own."

Lex's jaw unhinged. This bitch was fucking with her.

"Lexie?"

"What!?" Lex snapped, spinning around and then froze. A few feet away stood a beautiful woman in a gorgeous green sequin dress. Her long brown hair was tied back in a pigtail, and her greenish blue eyes examined Lex as if searching for injuries.

"You've grown into your looks." The woman smiled, eyes finally resting on hers.

"Whitney?" Lex whispered.

Her smile grew. "Good to see you too, Lexie."

Lex lunged, passing Lily and basically sprinting over to the woman who saved her life.

******

Lillian eyed the suspicious woman standing in the middle of their hotel room. Whitney was her name. Lex hadn't said much about how she knew Whitney or who she was, so Lillian had come up with a million different possibilities in her head.

Family lawyer, because of Kaerons' extracurricular activities. Hitwoman, who specializes in seduction techniques. Thief who has worked for Draefin for years and got close to Kaeron and Lex after stealing from some rich and powerful ruler of some territory that Lillian had never been to. Fourth in line to be the queen of some foreign kingdom hidden away in the furthest reaches of the world. Maybe she was part of the illegal mining of arcane stones Lillian had read about in the Damned Mountains a few miles off of the Lasaries coast.

Lex sat on the bed next to Lillian, staring at the woman as if she were seeing an apparition, and Lillian wanted to say something comforting, but nothing came to mind, so she just kept quiet.

The woman. Whitney. Spoke first as she examined the small room. "Where is that hot brother of yours at? I wanna see how he looks now that he's a man."

Lex bristled. "Please don't sleep with my brother. It would only inflate his ego and ruin how I see you."

Whitney smirked. "But he was such a handsome boy and from the rumors, he's only gotten better looking."

Lex sighed as if upset, but the tension in her body had seemingly vanished.

"You haven't changed a bit."

Whitney chuckled slightly. "But you have. From what I remember, you were a weak, crying little girl." She cocked her head to the left. "You're no longer that same girl, I can tell."

Lex shook her head. "No, I guess not."

Whitney turned her attention onto Lillian. "I'm sorry, what was your name again."

"Lillian." She said quickly.

Whitney's smirk returned. "Nice to meet you. I'm going to assume closed lip Lexie here has never talked about me. My name is Whitney, as you know or maybe not, whatever. I met our dear Lexie here when she had been kidnapped by the pimp I once worked for, and I helped her out..."

"She was the only reason I got out of there alive." Lex interjected.

Whitney shook her head. "Your brother was the reason you got out. All I did was keep you safe until he could get to you."

There it was again. She brought up Kaeron again, and even though Lillian didn't know the woman and didn't have any real reason to doubt her, it felt as if she were acting strange, and a bad feeling made Lillian's headache.

Whitney examined Lillian with a raised brow, and a shiver ran down her spine.

"Yes?" Lillian asked, raising her chin.

"How old are you?" Whitney finally asked.

When she didn't answer, Lex quickly changed the subject.

"So, how are the other girls?"

Whitney's attention returned on Lex and she gave her a sad smile. "I don't know. After you were rescued, I was bought by one of the seven. Draefin The Immoral God. Nowadays, I work for him here in Final City."

Something flickered in the woman's eyes, too quick to say what it was.

Whitney cocked her head. "Why are you here in Final City?"

Lillian and Lex exchanged a look.

"Can't really say." Lex shrugged apologetically.

Whitney smiled, but it didn't reach her eyes. "That's ok... can I ask a favor of you?"

The energy in the room shifted once again as Whitney glanced toward the door.

"Of course." Lex said without hesitating.

"I need help escaping before Draefins men kill me."

Ba-dum.

Why was he so calm? The question crossed Kaerons mind as buildings, street signs, and even the few people dumb enough to brave walking through the slums of Final City blurred into nothing as he pressed down further on the pedal.

Any member of Hells Mob in the city were most likely already being mobilized, and when Draefin was inevitably told about his men being torched outside of Vesna's, he would be furious with Kaeron, and yet.

Ba-dum. Kaeron felt an odd calmness.

He glanced over at the woman sitting in his passenger seat. She was staring at him as if he were a puzzle that needed solving.

"Hey.." He said, returning his attention to the road. "What's your name?"

From the corner of his eye, he saw her tense slightly, and now he was very interested, but he didn't push when she didn't answer.

The car was quiet for a few minutes before she whispered. "You won't feel the same about me if you knew."

He didn't look at her as he said, "We're already passed the point of turning back, don't you think?"

She went quiet again, long enough that he didn't think that she was going to answer.

"Mala."

His head spun. "Mala? Like Draefins daughter Mala?" He had only heard the name mentioned in hushed whispers from the very few high-ranking members that even knew of her existence.

"The one and only." She said, and that gut feeling of his was back screaming at him. What he did next would change everything.

"You've got your father's nose." He joked.

She glowered at him. "Not funny."

He grinned smugly. "I disagree. That may have actually been the funniest thing I've ever said."

She scoffed a laugh. "And you thought I was the unfunny one." Her smile died. "So? What now? Now that you know who I am, I mean. My father may despise my existence, but he doesn't like his toys being taken from him. He'll come after us."

"It's up to you." He looked at her, slamming his foot down onto the breaks.

The tires screamed as they came to a complete stop. He felt the eyes from their surroundings on them but ignored them as he continued to stare into Mala's, besides, the window tint would make it for anybody to look inside unless they pressed their face up against the glass.

"He's going to kill us." She said noticeably breathy, leaning in slightly.

"Let him try." He shrugged, also leaning in, close enough that their lips were a breath away from each other's. "But it's your choice."

Time stopped for a heartbeat before, "Fuck it." She said closing the distance, their lips clashing, and Kaeron groaned when she dug her fingers nails into his hair, firmly applying pressure as if to force his tongue deeper down her throat.

He obliged, laying claim to the inside of her mouth with his tongue. He lifted her from out of her seat without breaking the kiss, and she accidentally honked the horn a few times before getting situated on his lap, and they finally broke the kiss only to take a breath before they were at it again. His hands explored her body, feeling her every curve, and he growled as she started grinding up against his cock. He had never felt like this before. Her heat was devouring him, her saliva was intoxicating, and when she smiled into the kiss, he went feral.

"I need you inside me." She said against his lips.

"Good, because I need you riding me, now!" Rising in preparation for him, she didn't break the kiss as her hands fell to his pants. She pawed at them, and he rose a few inches and helped with pulling them down until he felt the cool air hit his cock and then her hands as they wrapped around his length, and they both moaned at the contact.

She broke the kiss, looked down, pushed her panties to the side with, and then looked at him. "Stick it inside me."

He didn't wait. He slowly guided the head of his cock to her entrance and thrust his length inside her in a single push, and she gasped. Again and again, he thrust deep inside her, and she dug her nails into his back, burying her head into his neck, trying fruitlessly to muffle her cries.

"Yes! Yes! Yes! Harder!" She cried into the indent of his neck. He was getting close, but the need to please her, to wreck her, made him thrust harder, deeper. She panted in his ear, and the sounds of her unraveling and the smell of her arousal mixed with her sweat and cologne.

"I'm going to cum!" She shouted no longer trying to be quiet, and that was the final straw. With three final deep thrust's, he blew, and she shattered as they both found release.

After a few panted breaths from the both of them, she lifted her head from his neck, looking him in the eyes (thankfully, not bothering to lift herself off his cock).

"Do you want to go again?"
