Gula's heartbeat quickened. "I know what I said."
"No." His voice lowered. "You like the idea right now. That is different from understanding what it means."
Gula frowned slightly.
Lux's eyes stayed locked on hers.
"Obedience is not losing yourself. Not with me."
Her breath trembled.
"If I tell you to kneel, it is because you want to kneel and I know you'll glow when you do. If I tell you to look at me, it is because you need to remember you are not an object under me. If I call you mine, it is because you answered first."
Gula's chest tightened.
His words wrapped around her more strongly than his arms.
"You are not food on my table," Lux murmured. "You are not payment. Not a toy. Not a convenience because I'm burning."
Gula's eyes softened.
