Lux knew she was right.
Kaelmor was busy. Probably. The diversion Lux had planted with the Shadow Corridor rumors and ancient sovereign traces should keep him looking elsewhere. The king would be watching the wrong shadows, clashing with old names, chasing the idea of a sovereign that might not exist in the shape he feared.
But Kaelmor was not stupid.
And this place was connected to him.
They needed to move fast.
Lux forced himself upright.
Aela shifted beside him, weak but conscious, no longer part of the tree yet not strong enough to stand by herself. Ely rushed in and knelt beside her, hands glowing with healing mana. Aela looked at Ely for a long moment, then allowed the healing.
That alone felt like progress.
Lux stood with Sira's help, though he complained with his eyes because accepting support verbally would have damaged his reputation.
Sira did not care. She held him anyway.
"Don't even pretend."
"I wasn't."
