Motu was looking outside the window then he pointed his gaze on Suresh. He suddenly laughed then said, "Do you know the most fascinating thing in this matter?"
"What is it?"
"Everyone called her dayan, but nobody knew anything about her. Who she actually was? How she ended up in there? Why she became like that? All of them thought she did something horrible and ended up like that. She deserves to be imprisoned because that is her punishment decided by some people they think high of. None of them ever thought she might be a victim of injustice." As Motu was babbling muttering about the pain of a terrifying existence. If people were to ask about her pain, then what's going to happen about those who were harmed by it. Just hearing him talk about it made Suresh think he might have lost his mind. How can an able minded person worry about a ghost? But from the way he talked, he knew something others did not.
Suresh eagerly wanted to unveil the mysteries behind all of these incidents, so he expectantly looked towards Motu. Though Motu was talking about things that was hard for Suresh to believe but he did not question him immediately. He wanted to know more about all of the incidents and about the rumour circling around it. So, he stayed quite to listen everything without interrupting him. Motu spoke everything he knew about without hiding anything. After that he started talking the same thing from the beginning. He did not spoke of any other thing.
This gave Suresh what he was looking for. After listening for more then an hour he asked a very important question, "How did you know this?"
But Motu wasn't listening at all. It felt like he didn't hear anything. After trying to question him few more time to no avail Suresh gave up. He felt like Motu has no awareness of his sarrounding at all. He didn't hear anything, he was speaking of the things he wanted to speak of. After multiple fail attempt Suresh come out of his room and went to his mom.
He asked, "Is he always stay like this?"
"No. He recently became like this." she said in a sad tone. "After few people died the same way he said he wanted to know who killed all of them. When he said that everyone tried their best to stop him but he sneeked out at night. Next morning he was found in the temple unconscious. And after awaking up he became like this." after saying this she started crying.
Suresh stayed there for a while long. Then he went to the other victims house. Those who were killed. But he didn't find any clue. While he was on his way to his home he saw few old women gathered together. He went there, before he could utter anything one of them told him to sit and started to ask question. At first they asked him about his wellbeing, his work-life, how it was to live in the city, all about his daily life. As he was answering their question he also asked about their wellbeing. Then at some point in their conversation an old women warned him about the ongoing terror. Suresh knew these old ladys knew more in this matter. If he wanted to know more inside stories then he needed to make them talk about it without making them feel cornered. Only then they will tell everything they knew willingly. So he didn't show egerness about it but normally stated his opinion.
"I think someone killed them and made it seem like some entity killed people."
"You know nothing about it. You went to the city, became educated just to turn blind eyes to our culture and legends. You haven't seen it or you don't believe it doesn't mean it doesn't exist. There are so many things out there about which you have never heard of. You can't imagine those because those are beyond your imagination. That thing doesn't just harm anyone. Only those people who has harmed others been punished by it."
"Only men were killed by her. All those men had openion about women. They used to abuse their wife. They were infamous for their violent nature against women. They might have offended her without knowing then were killed by her."
Suresh asked,"Why Baru died then? I don't believe he was like those people."
"He must have seen something he wasn't supposed to see. After people started to die in weird way everyone stopped going out late at night. But he claimed all those people were killed by someone. He wanted to find that person so he must have gone outside at night and saw something he wasn't supposed to see."
"You should not do the same thing. Stay here for a few days and go back to the city." One old lady warned him.
After listening from them Suresh was determined to unveil the mystery behind those deaths. He made his mind to go out that very night to see what was happening.
That very night, after everyone went to sleep, he cautiously walked out of the house. He walked towards the pond, where Baru died first. He stood there for a while then started walking around the place. After looking around he started to roam around the village. After walking around the village but not seeing anything suspicious he started walking towards the temple. After reaching the temple, he started to look closely for anything suspicious around the area. After looking for a while he still didn't find anything. So, he thought of entering the temple thought the temple was really old and after those incidents people stopped coming here. So as of now the temple was in a bad shape.
After entering he saw the situation inside. Everything was in disarray, it felt like someone vented their anger by smashing things. Like their anger was directed on the temple god. After taking a better look of the inside he went out and just as he looked ahead, he saw the same girl standing before him, smiling. She looked sad, just as Suresh was about to ask her what she was doing here she spoke in a voice that was neither women nor man, "YOU SHOULDN'T BE HERE".
And then everything went dark.
