The air shifted the moment Baobhan Sith spoke.
Her pink hair swayed gently, as if caught in a breeze that no one else could feel. Her smile remained soft, almost apologetic, as her clawed gloves gleamed in the dim light.
"Would you be so kind as to guide me to his location?" Her voice was silk wrapped around steel. "Or should I eat you all... and find him myself?"
No one answered with words.
Ais moved first.
Desperate sang through the air, her blade aimed at the monster's throat. Baobhan Sith tilted her head, the sword passing within a hair's breadth of her neck. She did not step back. She did not flinch. She simply watched the blade miss.
"Oh my," she said. "That was close."
Tiona came from the left, her dual blades Urga flashing. Tione mirrored from the right, her kukri Zolas carving toward the monster's ribs. Baobhan Sith raised her claws and caught both strikes simultaneously...the impact sending sparks across the clearing.
"Two Amazon warriors," she observed, her voice almost bored. "How delightful."
She pushed them back, sending both sisters skidding across the ground.
Chloe appeared behind her.
Her daggers drove toward the monster's spine. Baobhan Sith did not turn. She simply extended her leg backward—the razor-sharp tip of her heel meeting Chloe's blades. The impact sent a shower of sparks across the clearing, and Chloe was forced to retreat, her hands stinging from the force.
Anya followed, her spear thrusting toward Baobhan Sith's heart. The monster swayed, the blade missing by inches. She reached out, her claws grazing Anya's arm.
A thin line of blood appeared.
Anya stumbled back, clutching her wound. "Nya..."
The wound widened. What should have been a shallow cut suddenly deepened, blood pouring through her fingers. Anya's eyes went wide as she collapsed to her knees.
"Anya!" Chloe screamed.
Baobhan Sith smiled. "Failnaught. Every wound I inflict becomes five times worse." She raised her bloody claw and licked it. "It makes fighting so much more... Bloody."
Finn moved.
His spear thrust toward Baobhan Sith's chest...a precise, calculated strike. The monster danced around it, her claws raking across his side. He grunted, stumbling back, but Gareth was already there, his axe descending like a meteor.
Baobhan Sith raised her arms and crossed her claws. The axe struck them...and stopped. The impact sent shockwaves rippling through the ground, but she did not budge.
"Strong," she admitted. "But not strong enough."
She pushed, sending Gareth stumbling back. Her leg swept out, the razor tip carving across his chest. His armor held, barely.
Lunoire came from the right, her fists driving toward Baobhan Sith's face. The monster caught her wrist, twisted, and sent her flying into a nearby pillar. Lunoire crashed into the stone and slumped to the ground.
Akizuki appeared from the shadows, his blade aimed at Baobhan Sith's throat. She leaned back, the sword passing in front of her face. She kicked forward, her heel driving into his chest. He flew backward, his ribs cracking.
Royland's flames erupted from his staff. A wall of fire surged toward the monster. Baobhan Sith laughed, stepping through the flames as if they were nothing. Her claws raked across Royland's arm, and he screamed as the wound widened, blood spraying across the ground.
Daphne and Cassandra moved together. Daphne's daggers slashed at Baobhan Sith's legs. Cassandra's arrows flew toward her eyes. The monster twisted, dodging both attacks, and drove her heel into Daphne's shoulder. The amazon fell, her arm hanging at a sickening angle.
Ryuu moved like a ghost.
Her kodachi appeared from nowhere, aiming at Baobhan Sith's neck. The monster's claws caught the blade, stopping it cold. She grinned, her other hand driving toward Ryuu's chest. The elf twisted, avoiding the strike, but the tips of the claws grazed her side.
A thin line of blood appeared.
Ryuu gasped as the wound expanded, her side erupting in a spray of red. She collapsed to her knees, her kodachi clattering from her grip.
"No!" Cassandra screamed, her hands already glowing with healing magic. But she was too far. Too slow.
Ottar rose.
His body was broken—his ribs cracked, his limbs heavy with exhaustion. But he forced himself to his feet, his massive blade raised.
"You..." he growled. "Will not... pass."
Baobhan Sith tilted her head. "Oh my. You.... In the surface....You'll be a level Seven. How impressive." She stepped closer, her claws extended. "But you are already broken. What can you possibly do to me?"
Ottar charged.
His blade descended with all his remaining strength. Baobhan Sith raised her claws to block...and for the first time, she was pushed back. Her feet carved trenches in the ground as she skidded across the clearing.
"Interesting," she said. "You still have some fight left in you."
She lunged forward, her claws raking across Ottar's chest. Blood sprayed. His ribs, already cracked, split further. He gasped, stumbling backward.
Riveria's magic flared to life.
Ice erupted from the ground, encasing Baobhan Sith's legs. The monster looked down, amused, and shattered the ice with a single flex of her claws. She turned toward Riveria, her smile widening.
"High Elf," she said. "I have always wanted to taste High Elf blood."
She lunged.
Ais was there.
Desperate met the monster's claws, the impact driving Ais to her knees. She pushed upward, forcing Baobhan Sith back. Her golden eyes burned with fury.
"You will not touch her."
Baobhan Sith laughed. "Oh, I love the spirit!"
They clashed again blade against claw, speed against speed. Ais was fast. Faster than anyone. But Baobhan Sith was faster. Her claws moved like lightning, each strike grazing Ais's armor, her skin.
A thin line of blood appeared on Ais's stomach.
Baobhan Sith's grin widened.
"Failnaught."
The wound expanded.
Ais gasped, blood pouring from her stomach. She staggered back, her hand pressed against the wound. Her vision blurred. Her legs gave out, and she crashed to her knees.
"NO!" Tiona screamed.
She charged, her blades aimed at Baobhan Sith's throat. The monster caught her wrists, twisted, and threw her into Tione. Both sisters crashed to the ground, dazed and bleeding.
Baobhan Sith stood over them, her claws dripping with blood.
"Now then," she said, her voice soft and sweet. "Who is next?"
The silence that followed was deafening.
Everyone was down. Wounded. Bleeding. Ais clutched her stomach, her golden eyes fixed on the monster. Tiona and Tione struggled to rise. Finn's spear lay broken beside him. Gareth's axe was buried in the ground, too heavy to lift.
Baobhan Sith smiled.
"Shall I finish you all? Or shall I find your Shadow Monarch and finish him instead? Oh oh...What would be better? I kill him as you watch? Or Kill you and then he comes to find you all DEAD!"
She turned toward the castle.
"Decisions, decisions..."
