Chapter 153 - The Council

To the north of Orario, mountains covered in ice and cold weather stretched across the horizon. These were the Beol Mountains, and they were quite special. At the beginning of the Beol mountain range, the land was hot. Lakes and forests were not uncommon. Even a few settlements dotted the landscape here and there.

But further up north, the terrain changed drastically. Extreme cold weather. Relentless snow and cold winds. And dragons. Many, many dragons. Of course, they were strong ones. To the untrained eye, these were merely called dragons, but to the intelligent observer, they were drakes. Ice drakes. They covered this area by the hundreds—thousands, even—living and occupying these lands.

Yet even here, it was not Dragon Valley—one of the three great unexplored regions of the world.

Here, in Dragon Valley, the reason it had never been explored was due to the enormous five dragons living within it. All considered themselves enemies of the gods. Yet for so long, they had not moved. They awaited the day their calling came from their lord.

"The Lord of Light awaits" was their motto.

And that lord had finally responded.

In the form of a very ancient man, he slowly approached from the south, crossing the Beol Mountains and cutting his way to Dragon Valley. When he reached the frozen land, he descended the mountains, heading toward the massive castle that crowned the north.

He entered casually, not caring for any guard or man. Nor did they attempt to stop him. The guards were mostly enslaved humans and other species who had long given up on life. They were merely ceremonial, serving no other purpose.

Once inside, the man was greeted by five lavish, grand chairs.

In each chair sat a dragon.

Except one.

The chair to the left held a beautiful red-headed woman with two horns sprouting from her head. She was completely naked, legs spread, a full view of her womanhood on display for all to see. Her breasts were well-toned and massive, also uncovered. This woman cared not for clothes. She simply considered life as it came and went.

She was the Red Dragon of Destruction and Chaos, Tiamat.

To her right sat a man with green eyes and hair, two horns like the rest. He wore a scholarly white and green robe, with glasses resting on his nose and ears. Clearly, he was an intellectual. As a dragon, he would never need real glasses.

He was the Green Dragon of Wisdom and Order, Qinglong.

The middle chair held another man. His eyes were narrow and white. His hair white. His face serious. His clothes were those of a knight. He looked at the human approaching him and remained quiet.

He was the White Dragon of Judgment and Discipline, Albion.

To his right sat a very voluptuous, beautiful woman with blonde hair and golden eyes. She wore a beautiful white and gold dress that emphasized her assets—her ass and breasts—while still retaining her elegance.

She was the Golden Dragon of Divinity and Authority, Yinglong.

The man scanned his eyes across them and spoke.

"One is missing."

He did not care about their powers or strength. He treated them as if they were nothing but casual entities.

Yinglong spoke first. "The Black One is in hibernation. His last outing resulted in too much chaos, so we ordered him to hide."

"The Black One does not matter." The man's voice was flat. "Tell us, Divine Messenger of the Lord of Light... Is it true?" The Green Dragon, Qinglong, leaned forward. "Did the Shadow Monarch return?"

The Divine Messenger nodded.

"Yes. He did. But he is not in his natural form. Instead, it seems he has become a mortal and chosen to rise from the ashes again. Taking the form of an adventurer from Orario." He paused. "Known as Damien Ardent. His powers are also somewhat different from the Shadow Monarch we knew. He does not merely control shadows... He is raising the dead as an army of shadows."

Tiamat laughed and rose from her chair. "Then I go hunt!"

The Divine Messenger looked at her.

"If you make a move, you die. Ouranos is keeping his part of the deal. So shall we." His voice was cold. "The Lord of Light wishes not to face the primordial god. Not until he finally becomes free."

Albion, who had been quiet the entire time, finally spoke.

"It is all the fault of the foolish Black One. He killed too many useful and strong adventurers outside the dungeon."

"Do not blame him, Albion." The Divine Messenger shook his head. "Azi Dahaka was only acting out of fear of his lord. The adventurers of that Familia were approaching the depths of the dungeon too early. Too fast."

Qinglong's eyes narrowed. "I still cannot fathom why he is an exception. He gets to roam and attack any time he desires, while we wait here, unable to make a move."

"You know the reason quite well, Qinglong." The Divine Messenger's voice was patient. "He was not born through the light of our lord. He was born inside the dungeon. He is considered a monster. Not divine heritage. The original Black Dragon would be attacking us instead, but we know not of her fate. So we took in this new Black One as our own." He paused. "To weaken the Shadow Monarch's army."

Tiamat slammed her fist on the arm of her chair. "So what do we do now? Just wait? Wait and WAIT! Why wait all the time?"

"If you were ordered to wait, I would not bother coming here. Now would I?"

The dragons perked up. Their interest was peaked.

Yinglong's golden eyes gleamed. "So... what do we do then?"

The Divine Messenger raised his hand.

"Each of you will find an avatar. One that can inhabit parts of your power. Unite to attack the Shadow Monarch's city...Orario." His voice hardened. "To keep him from invading the dungeon for the time being."

The dragons smiled.

Happy to finally be given a chance to make a move.
