Arthur finally got into the car after Natalia, settling into his seat but remaining oddly still, almost frozen, as if he had just seen her for the first time. It was ridiculous, really. God knew what happened to his brain whenever he was close enough to catch the faint, intoxicating scent of her perfume. It wasn't even that strong, not overwhelming in any way, but to him it felt consuming, like it wrapped around his senses and refused to let go.
He stole a glance at her, hesitant, as though the act itself required permission. For a split second, his eyes lingered, taking in the curve of her smile, the calm confidence she carried so effortlessly. But the moment she turned her head toward him, catching him in the act, he snapped his gaze away immediately, pretending sudden interest in something outside the window.
It had become a routine.
