Chapter 380 - Chapter 381: Episode Twelve (Part 3)

Chapter 381: Episode Twelve (Part 3)

Under the scalp-numbing, oppressively majestic BGM of "Wrath of God," as Zhou Ning slammed his palm heavily against the ground, players could see a crack suffused with blue light spreading outward from beneath his hand. It gradually expanded like a spiderweb. The entire sky suddenly darkened as an invisible yet terrifying force shot into the heavens and vanished beyond the horizon.

Then, the earth seemed to collapse. Countless phantom pillars crumbled, and ethereal voices began chanting loudly. Wrapped in lightning serpents and beams of light, a colossal blue giant revealed its true form. The shockwave it unleashed shook the ground violently. Zhou Ning knelt on one knee upon the giant's shoulder, his white trench coat whipping fiercely in the divine tempest unleashed by the descent of a god.

At that moment, the players could almost feel the divine fury resonating in the "Wrath of God" BGM — the same fury that burned within the protagonist. The scene's grandeur was off the charts.

"Divine Descent!"

"So damn cool!"

"I wonder what @Grantham is thinking right now?"

But it wasn't over yet. Just as the players' excitement reached its peak, Zhou Ning once again raised his hand — and another card appeared in his palm, ready for summoning!

In a blaze of lightning, a silver-white dragon descended from the heavens, proudly lifting its long neck, exuding the majestic aura of a mythical creature.

The Light Brain added subtitles beside it: Blue-Eyes White Dragon!

Moments later, another seven-colored card appeared between Zhou Ning's index and middle fingers. He flicked it forward forcefully!

The card shattered silently, and a black-and-green ancient dragon raised its head and roared.

From the Light Brain's subtitles, players learned: This was a Tri-Horned Dragon!

Then, they heard Zhou Ning's voice, trembling with suppressed fury:

"I offer Blue-Eyes White Dragon and Tri-Horned Dragon as sacrifices — to activate the ultimate level of soul energy!"

"What?! Sacrificing mythical creatures?!"

The players were dumbfounded. Then they saw Blue-Eyes White Dragon and Tri-Horned Dragon shatter into fragments as the aura of Obelisk the Tormentor began to surge to unimaginable heights. Its clenched fists radiated pale blue divine light, and the players felt as if they were watching a high-budget fantasy movie with Zhou Ning as the lead — hearts pounding in pure excitement.

But this was only the beginning.

They saw Zhou Ning point toward a distant, arrogant spider-shaped shadow — clearly the first target. The Light Brain thoughtfully labeled them:

Phantom of the Ancient God, Dark Spider Mother Matalita (Lv95)

Darkland Monastery's Chief Priest, Derrick Aiden (Lv67)

"An Ancient God! That level's insane!"

Before the players could finish gasping, Obelisk the Tormentor lunged forward under Zhou Ning's command, his right fist crashing down with a torrent of energy.

The Light Brain zoomed in on the spider phantom. As the fist descended, the view rapidly zoomed out— and in an instant, the once-arrogant phantom's HP bar vanished. Both it and Derrick Aiden on its back were crushed into dust, leaving not even a corpse behind. The shockwave from the blow cracked the earth for thousands of meters.

By this point, the "Wrath of God" BGM had reached its most explosive climax, sending the audience's adrenaline through the roof.

"Holy sh*t!!!!"

"My scalp's tingling!!!"

Unlike the previous drama episodes, this one's editing was razor-sharp and clean. After Zhou Ning destroyed the spider phantom, the screen immediately split into three.

The first view stayed locked on Zhou Ning.

The second focused on the enormous blood sphere in the sky — zooming in to show countless streams of blood flowing from every part of the city, merging into it and making it grow larger as it throbbed with an increasingly powerful heartbeat.

Beneath the blood sphere, the Light Brain displayed a countdown: 00:02:59 — meaning the evil god would resurrect in three minutes.

The third view was a bird's-eye montage showing the city: three or four more spider phantoms rampaging, cultists spreading their gospel or slaughtering civilians — scenes of utter horror. On the ramparts of the Darkland Fortress, King Charles VII stood calmly overlooking it all.

Then, the three camera views merged again. Through rapid cuts, players saw Zhou Ning controlling Obelisk the Tormentor to rescue every civilian he could. The Sunwatchers and the Circle of the Earth had even joined forces for once; Ian and Emlyn, both users of Devil Fruits, charged toward the spider phantoms together. Meanwhile, players dressed as adventurers banded together to fight the cultists. The screen cut once more — Obelisk struck again, instantly killing a demigod-level elf warrior!

Clean and decisive!

The once scattered clips were seamlessly pieced together by the Light Brain's perfect editing, giving viewers an overwhelming sense of immersion. Even players who had lived through the event were completely engrossed — the new perspective made it feel even more epic.

The screen suddenly went black, the BGM cut off, and all went silent except for the sound of a heartbeat — thump, thump — faster and faster.

When the image returned, the scene was back in the Trade District. The blood sphere hovered in the air, and Zhou Ning still stood upon Obelisk the Tormentor's shoulder, gazing solemnly at the sky.

Thump! Thump! Thump!

Heavy drumbeats resounded, syncing perfectly with the blood sphere's heartbeat. Players held their breath as the countdown hit zero. Gas lamps across the street exploded one by one, and a beam of light descended from the heavens.

Under everyone's tense gaze, an evil god — over thirty meters tall, its body crimson and engulfed in green fel flames — emerged from the light!

The Light Brain promptly displayed its name and level: Nyastora (Lv125)

In sheer size, the evil god Nyastora completely dwarfed the sub–20-meter Obelisk the Tormentor.

Its power was suffocating. With a rapid sequence of close-ups, viewers saw everyone's skin begin to rot, oozing yellow pus, their eyes filling with web-like blood vessels — the curse of the evil god itself.

Thankfully, the NPC once ranked number one on the Power Rankings — Stuart Crow — acted in time, using divine magic to suppress the curse. But before the audience could breathe in relief, Nyastora lifted its hand, and countless blood droplets fell to the ground, morphing into hordes of grotesque Flesh Beasts.

Each Flesh Beast was level 60–70, with some exceeding 70. They swarmed toward the crowd.

It took two or three transcendents to bring down a single Flesh Beast — and like the Flesh Worms from previous episodes, these blood-element creatures could also split after drinking enough blood. The situation was dire.

Meanwhile, the camera cut back to Zhou Ning. His long record of glorious victories made the players trust Wayne Sturwell completely.

Once again, they noticed a card appearing between his fingers. With a burst of radiant light, a middle-aged man clad in white bone armor and a black cloak appeared beside him.

[Ruler of Dragons: Master of Dragons, a magician who commands the power of dragonkind.]

Then, Zhou Ning summoned again. A golden dragon-headed flute floated in midair.

[Dragon Flute: When Ruler of Dragons is on the field, using the Dragon Flute allows the summoning of two Dragon-type monsters simultaneously.]

"Ruler of Dragons? Dragon Flute?"

The players perked up, their attention fixed on Zhou Ning. He gently clasped the flute, which then faded away.

A vortex opened in the air — and a silver-white, razor-toothed dragon answered his call, emerging from the clouds.

Moments later, a black dragon appeared beside it, roaring to the sky.

Amid flickering lightning, Zhou Ning knelt slightly upon Obelisk's shoulder, the space between his fingers glowing with seven-colored light. With a subtle motion, he gathered the light into his palm and began to chant. The Light Brain, ever thoughtful, displayed the subtitles:

"When thunder roars and chaos fills the sky,

gather the ancient grimoire within the chain of spells,

whose power reaches infinity!

I offer Ruler of Dragons, Red-Eyes Black Dragon, and Vortex Dragon as sacrifices—

Descend! Slifer the Sky Dragon!"

A new BGM burst forth — neither Wrath of God nor Wayne Sturwell's Execution Theme, but something entirely new, thrilling and hair-raising. Whatever it was, from now on, all such tracks would forever be known as Wayne Sturwell's execution themes!

Watching the episode himself, Zhou Ning couldn't help but blush. Even he felt his blood boiling from the Light Brain's masterful editing and music placement. He had no idea where it found tracks like "Wrath of God" and "Passionate Duelist," but they fit the scene perfectly.

Meanwhile, the players' barrage of comments went wild:

"Goosebumps!!"

"High-energy incoming!!"

"Wayne: No one can defeat me while my BGM is playing!"
