Chapter 360 - Chapter 361: The Might of Obelisk the Tormentor

Chapter 361: The Might of Obelisk the Tormentor

Using an unimaginably powerful spiritual force, just one touch was enough for Zhou Ning to come into contact with a certain image hidden within the card. Immediately after, the card in his palm radiated a brilliant seven-colored light. He raised his hand high, then slammed his palm heavily against the ground!

"What's Lord Wayne trying to do?" someone among the surrounding players asked in confusion.

"No idea."

The Wolf-Dog Squad had just come out of a dungeon and were browsing the forums to catch up on the new version's updates. XB and Jinse exchanged glances and shook their heads.

But what happened next gave them their answer.

In an instant, the surroundings dimmed. The ground began to crack apart as countless phantom stone pillars crumbled down. Deep, ethereal chanting echoed faintly through the air. Amid the dawnlike radiance and coiling electric serpents, a violent aura descended rapidly. Moments later, a colossal, resplendent blue figure revealed its true form. Strange markings covered its face and body, its eyes glowed crimson, exuding divine majesty and terrifying power.

Obelisk the Tormentor—descends!

As one of the three Egyptian God Cards in Yu-Gi-Oh!, the God of the Earth and the God of Destruction, Obelisk the Tormentor was the embodiment of a true deity. With a spiritual attribute value of 1,120, Zhou Ning could barely summon it—it was almost certainly Obelisk's strongest form.

Even with his current mental strength, he could not control it for long.

The status panel displayed the summoned being's attributes:

[True Ancestor · Obelisk the Tormentor]

Race: Divine-Beast

Rank: Invisible

Attack Power: 40,000–120,000

Specialties: [Godly Physique], [Godly Strength], [????], [????], [Magic Immunity]

Skills: [Soul Energy MAX], [Divine Hand: Critical Strike], [Fist of God: Shockwave], [????], [????]

It was strong—terrifyingly strong—but still not enough.

Expressionless, Zhou Ning raised his hand again. Another card appeared in his right palm. When he flipped it over, it revealed a Blue-Eyes White Dragon. With a wave of his hand, he materialized it once more.

A raging whirlwind surged through the space as a radiant beam of light shot down from the heavens.

"Come forth—Blue-Eyes White Dragon!"

Blinding light burst forth, and the White Dragon descended, spreading its wings across the battlefield.

But Zhou Ning didn't stop. He drew another card—this time, an eight-star card: Tri-Horned Dragon—and materialized it as well.

The two great dragons raised their heads together and unleashed a thunderous roar!

As one of the Three Egyptian Gods, Obelisk the Tormentor possessed a skill called [Soul Energy MAX], which allowed it to gain infinite attack power for a short time by offering two sacrifices.

In the real world, the strength of those sacrifices determined how long that "infinite" attack power would last!

"I offer Blue-Eyes White Dragon and Tri-Horned Dragon as tributes—to activate Soul Energy MAX!"

In an instant, both dragons shattered, replaced by Obelisk's ever-surging aura. White winds and shockwaves erupted across the ground, strong enough to sweep up a small child.

On the status bar, the Attack Power indicator changed—displaying the symbol ∞. Infinite.

"Holy crap! Holy crap! Holy crap! That thing's insanely strong!"

The players nearby gawked, speechless with shock. XB was the first to react, but with his limited vocabulary, all he could manage was a cracked, trembling "holy crap" to express his awe.

But Obelisk the Tormentor wasn't a monster—it was a god. And no mortal player could withstand the divine pressure radiating from a god.

Moments later, all the onlookers grew dizzy, their breathing heavy and strained, before they simultaneously burst into white light and vanished skyward.

Zhou Ning leapt lightly into the air. His white coat billowed as he landed on Obelisk's shoulder. Through his Stand ability, he formed a subtle psychic link with the deity, then pointed forward—toward the shadowy spider projection.

That was the first target!

By now, the massive blood sphere hanging above the trade district had swollen even larger. Countless streams of blood converged into thick chains, pouring into it. It now resembled a gigantic heart, pulsing violently with louder and louder beats.

Everyone present could feel the suffocating pressure intensifying with each throb.

"We must act quickly," Zhou Ning muttered to himself.

"Professor Edwin! Professor Riley! Fall back!" Zhou Ning shouted in a deep voice.

By this point, the spider projection had summoned an uncountable swarm of smaller spiders that surged toward Edwin and the others.

Obelisk moved with blinding speed, charging straight at the spider projection. At that moment, Edwin and Professor Riley had just finished a round of attacks—using stone spikes and talismans to clear out a wave of smaller spiders. When they saw Obelisk, they both instinctively stepped back, their pupils contracting sharply, struck speechless.

Edwin had already noticed Zhou Ning's earlier movements, but only now did he truly feel it—this blue giant radiated divine energy even greater than that of the Dark Spider Mother, Matalita. It was almost certainly a true god!

But since the Divine War, most deities had either fallen into slumber or withered away. Those few that remained typically roamed the astral realms, not the mortal world. Whether benevolent or malevolent, they could only descend through divine incarnation—never directly manifest.

So where did this blue divine beast come from?

Before Edwin could think further, he turned his head—and saw Wayne Stirwell's blue giant slam directly into the spider projection.

The air itself seemed to freeze.

Obelisk the Tormentor raised its massive right fist high, a storm of energy swirling around it, and brought it crashing down. The shadow it cast was enough to blot out all light around them.

"Fist of God: Shockwave!"

Boom!

The violent airwave obliterated a swarm of newly hatched spiders in an instant. The hooded man standing atop the spider projection was struck with terror. Instinct warned him of imminent doom—he tried to make the spider projection dodge, but Obelisk's fist smashed down before he could move.

The earth trembled violently. The impact left a massive crater, with cracks spreading out like a spiderweb for over a kilometer.

-4,199,977!

A colossal damage number floated above the spider projection's head. Its long health bar vanished instantly—without even a scream, it collapsed like it had been cleaved in half by an axe.

The system notifications rang out one after another:

[You have slain the Dark Spider Mother, Matalita (Projection) (Lv.95). Gained 270,000 EXP.]

[You have slain the Retreat Society's Darkland Regional High Priest, Derrick Aiden (Lv.67). Gained 140,000 EXP.]

[Extraordinary Creature Kill Progress—Land: 1/3; Sea: 0/3.]

[Milestone Achieved: Power Unleashed I]

[Milestone Achieved: Power Unleashed II]

[Power Unleashed I: Inflict over 1,000,000 damage in a single attack.]

[Power Unleashed II: Inflict over 3,000,000 damage in a single attack.]

These milestones were typically only achieved in the late game—each granting an additional 3% and 5% output bonus respectively.

He hadn't expected that, by pure accident, he'd manage to complete both at once.
