Chapter 14 - A Fulfilling Day For The Ex

What do people usually do at school? If you ask any normal human being. The answer is study. If you ask a wild Takumi, the answer will be to have friends. I think so too.

Unfortunately, having such opinion does not matter when facing against a teacher.

As of now, Takumi was standing right in front of the teacher's office. Why? Cause he isn't very smart.

Although his heart wavered, he chose to walk in. It was not the absence of fear but rather the will to overpower it. As he approached the designated desk of his homeroom teacher, he saw the man.

Mr. Tanabe. Homeroom teacher. What does he teach you ask? I don't know either. No one does. He just is.

With those half-lidded eyes and a tired expression, Tanabe stared up straight at Takumi, "You aren't very smart,"

Takumi nodded.

Tanabe then took a glance at Takumi's carrier sheet, not only was he late to submit it, what he had written was strange too

[To have friends and family all together]

At first glance, one would expect it to be a 3rd grader's, but the name undoubtably told otherwise. Usually most would write about their future jobs or hobbies they wanted to pursue. Tanabe had seen those before. But not this.

"That's quite the dream you got." Tanabe laughed softly, not mocking him but being genuinely joyful. As ridiculously childish this goal was, Tanabe knew exactly what it meant.

Takumi didn't have the answer for this situation, the open-mouthed kid would sometime be quiet. Often when it involved certain people.

"uh… I don't really want to force you, but… you should try better on academics. Also, If you have any hobbies or anything you are interested in, come to me," Tanabe scratched his head in a bit of embarrassment, talking this much wasn't something he was accustomed to. "I will help you with the best of my ability,"

Then, even in that awkwardness, just to look a tiny bit cool in front of his student, he gave a small smile. "I swear."

Takumi once again remained silent, but his twitching lips were enough of an answer for his teacher.

--

"I love you!" Daichi please stop…

The words echoed in the empty classroom like the charn bell. Yet the only one who could hear that was just a single person. Aika. She heard It loud and clear.

She was confused, and embarrassed. She ran away.

Just as she left the classroom, Riku entered from the second door. Daichi stared at him, Riku did not move a single step.

They both stared with blank faces.

Riku broke the silence. "I heard it, loud and clear."

"Shut the fuck up." Daichi shot back, his eyes looked hollow, as if there was nothing behind them but anger. Not anger of rejection, but anger of Riku.

Why? Cause he's Riku.

AHHAHHAAHHAAaaaa…..

Ahem…

They both sat back on their desks, as if this had never happened, even though it had happened.

Time passed and students slowly filled the classroom, everyone was present, with the sole exception of Takumi. Riku didn't know why, and he surely wanted to.

"I will ask him on phone later," He thought to himself, taking out book from his bag.

He glanced to his left, a beautiful scenery unfolded before his eyes. Blue sky with cumulonimbus clouds covering the sky in strange shapes and gorgeous colours.

He glanced to his right, another beautiful scenery unfolded itself. A woman with a silky hair like snow white, and majestic brown eyes with a confused expression. She stared at her book and bit her pencils, filled with unknown thoughts.

Oh wait, that's just Mei.

"Oh it's just Mei." Riku thought, not realising the fact he was staring straight at her face.

Mei turned in a swift motion, as if she knew he was watching, like she wanted this to happen.

"…" She didn't speak, the pencil did not move away from her mouth, but her frowning brow said everything.

Riku instantly turned away.

Slowly tried to see through the corner of his eyes.

Mei was still staring. More eagerly than ever.

Riku sighed, calming himself down to face his fear. He turned his face towards the pseudo-medusa, then spoke. "What are you looking at? Me? Am I that handsome?" A sly smile formed on his face, the usual.

Mei's already frowning eyes narrowed further, going beyond simple staring. She was darting her eyes right into Riku's soul. She couldn't quite hear what Riku said. Just a few words that she could comprehend.

"Yes." She replied ferociously, not quite getting what she said herself.

Although she didn't understand her words, her seatmate did. Very much.

Riku's face turned bright red, face distorting into what looked like confusion, embarrassment, and a hint of delusion. His wide eyes didn't blink, they had actually forgotten to do so, because all the power in his entire body was used in trying to calm down his rampaging heart.

He turned away quickly, not even giving the usual witty comeback.

Mei saw his action, she saw the blushing face of her seatmate. A strange smile unfolded itself on her face, although she had no idea why he was acting so weirdly, she did not give a single care for that. Her eyes were doing their best to capture this moment and engrave it into her deepest part of the brain.

"What a fulfilling day" She thought, her smile did not lose a single bit of intensity.
