Chapter 94 - CHAPTER 94

C94: Tony Returns

"Important information?"

Hearing this, **Nick Fury** turned and glanced at the field agent standing in front of him.

Understanding the unspoken instruction, the agent quietly exited the office, carefully closing the door behind him.

Only after the agent had left did **Maria Hill** step forward, placing a folder thick with documents on Fury's desk. "According to a cross-reference of archived S.H.I.E.L.D. intel and newly retrieved surveillance," she began carefully, "we uncovered something unexpected... a photo that may alter our assessment."

"Unexpected?"

Raising his one good eyebrow, **Nick Fury** flipped open the folder. His eye locked onto an aged black-and-white photograph.

"Bruce Lee?"

The iconic face immediately triggered recognition. Fury stared at the image for a few seconds before shifting his gaze toward Hill. "That's *the* Bruce Lee?"

Hill nodded. "The one and only. But that's not the key part. The man standing next to him—demonstrating a Wing Chun stance—is the real discovery."

She tapped the figure in the background, captured mid-motion in the classic "Yee Jee Kim Yeung Ma" stance. "We confirmed his identity based on S.H.I.E.L.D.'s ancient martial arts archive. He's **Ip Man**, Lee's mentor. The same individual now operating under the name Ye Wen in Chinatown."

"Ip Man."

The name fell from Fury's lips like a puzzle piece snapping into place. He stared again at the photo.

"You're saying the man teaching Wing Chun right now in Manhattan is the same person who trained Bruce Lee back in the 1960s? That would make him... what, over a hundred?"

"Technically, yes," Hill affirmed. "But as your earlier field report indicates, the man you met appears no older than fifty. There's a clear temporal inconsistency."

"And the face doesn't exactly match either," Fury added, narrowing his eye. "This Ye Wen looks like a movie composite of Ip Man more than the real man."

"We ran biometric analysis," Hill replied. "Taking into account photographic aging discrepancies and low-res analog quality, our software shows a 91% facial structure match. Margin of error is within acceptable parameters for long-term aging. It could be the same person—altered either naturally or through unknown means."

Of course, what neither of them knew was that **Li Ran**, the hidden manipulator behind the scenes, had used a mystic transformation spell derived from a **Kamar-Taj illusion discipline**, with traces of **Asgardian glamour magic** mixed in. This spell intentionally molded his avatar to resemble both **Donnie Yen's cinematic portrayal** of Ip Man and the real historical figure, baiting S.H.I.E.L.D. into the current misdirection.

"…"

Hill's reply pulled Fury into thought. For a moment, the director of S.H.I.E.L.D.—a man who had once coordinated **Project PEGASUS**, **Avengers Initiative**, and dealt with threats from **Loki**, **HYDRA**, and **Ultron**—was silent.

"Effective immediately, all files related to Ye Wen are to be classified as *Omega Level Top Secret*. We'll replace the field agent. I want someone from the **Special Threat Assessment Unit** assigned. Maybe even reach out to Agent May—she's handled similar anomalies before. Also, begin parallel intel gathering on the man named **Ah Xing**. I suspect there may be a shared origin."

"Understood, Director."

Agent Hill nodded crisply and exited, leaving Fury alone with the folder and the lingering photograph.

"Ip Man. Wing Chun. Bruce Lee…"

Fury muttered the names, then slowly stood. Recalling the earlier report describing the basic stance, he attempted the **'Yee Jee Kim Yeung Ma'** posture himself—albeit stiffly.

**\[Reputation gained from Maria Hill: +185]**

**\[Reputation gained from Nick Fury: +320]**

It seemed the misinformation Li Ran had seeded was now fully embedded in the S.H.I.E.L.D. system.

In the antique store, Li Ran glanced at the glowing reputation notifications in his data panel and chuckled softly. The gambit had worked.

He returned his gaze to the **Daily Bugle** spread open before him. The headline blared in bold:

**"Stark Rescued from Afghan Desert — Miracle or Military Cover-up?"**

After nearly three months of silence, **Tony Stark** had been recovered alive in Afghanistan. Most media outlets across New York hailed it as a miracle. **Stark Industries' stock price hit a new high**, bolstered by investor faith in their newly returned CEO.

But Li Ran knew better—change was coming.

---

**U.S. Military Airport, Classified Location**

"Careful—watch your step."

**Colonel James Rhodes** supported a limping, disheveled **Tony Stark** as he exited the aircraft, bandages wrapped around his arm and visible fatigue on his face.

"Are you serious with that hospital gurney?" Tony scoffed, waving off the medical team. "I'm not a broken doll."

Adjusting his suit jacket awkwardly over the Arc Reactor embedded in his chest, he strode unsteadily toward **Pepper Potts**, who was already rushing to greet him.

"Your eyes are red," he said with a crooked grin. "Miss me that much?"

"It's called relief. I'd hate to update my résumé."

Pepper's reply was dry, but her voice cracked slightly.

"Well, don't get too comfortable," Tony replied, arching an eyebrow. "Your workload just tripled."

---

**Inside the car**

"Where to, sir?" **Happy Hogan**, sitting in the driver's seat of the armored Audi, turned his head with barely concealed excitement.

"Happy. You still driving? Good to see *something* hasn't changed." Tony winced slightly as he shifted his position, trying to ease the discomfort from his injuries.

"Glad to see *you* haven't changed, sir," Happy replied cheerfully.

"I'd argue I've changed more than anyone should."

Tony exhaled, his fingers absently brushing the **miniature Arc Reactor** beneath his shirt. The device—his life-support and symbol of trauma—hummed faintly.

"Happy, let's hit the hospital first," Pepper insisted. "Tony, we need a full workup. We don't know what kind of damage—"

"No."

Tony cut her off sharply. "Three months in a cave is long enough. I'm not spending my first day of freedom in a hospital gown hooked up to machines."

Pepper frowned. "You were kidnapped. Tortured. We have no idea what they did to you in that cave. The implant alone—"

"I know what they did."

His tone softened, but his eyes were distant. "I survived. I built something. I made it out."

He took a breath.

"There are only two things I want right now: One—visit the food cart outside **Stark Tower** that still makes that ridiculous steamed siu mai... and two—"

"Enough, Tony."

Pepper didn't let him finish.

"I'm scheduling a press conference."

"A press conference?" she asked incredulously. "Why?"

But Tony didn't answer her directly.

Instead, turning his head forward, he looked at Happy and said calmly:

"Drive. Let's get that siu mai."
