Chapter 16 - The first breath

' …' His eyes gaze upon her, he couldn't quite tell what she was thinking, but she was obviously embarrassed. "Tell me what you meant."

"You won't dream again, because some guy stopped it." Her eyes shifted to the side, she wasn't comfortable. "And…" she sounded hesitant but spoke; "He told me to teach you things. The things I can do… but ones personal to you." Her eyes were filled with fear as it met his gaze. She couldn't tell why, but pressure weighed on her. Cery felt heavy, different from all the previous time.

"Things like you… but unique to me?" Azzys' eyes glowed a golden red.

She flinched back: Why do I feel like this? Cery thought, how could someone she's been watching for years make her feel like a child? She felt insignificant, small and underwhelming. It was weird, a shiver washed down her body. The expression on his face was greed, and it was expressive. More emotionful than his act earlier.

"Azzy, Be cautious of what you're thinking. This power is your ink, thing that has written your past and it will your future…" she looked down, rubbing her fingers. The thing she has been feeling since the moment that man spoke about teaching Azzy of his power. The name of it, nonetheless, was frightening. It felt wrong, someone as physically strong but as mentally unstable as him...

She loved him but the thought still ached her heart. It was wrong. He is a fated one, his story will continue to define him… but that man… he'd--- Azzy spoke, his words breaking her train of thoughts.

"Teach me." He stared at her with cat eyes.

"Azzy… you don't really need it you know that right?" Cery started to fidget even more. it was like she was in a tunnel and the light kept getting closer, Azzy was that light. To her—to me, it was cold… I was cold. And it scared me.

"Eeeek!!!"

A scream rang, deep into the forest breaking the tension and catching their attention. It sounded human and way too real for them to ignore. Their eyes met, unanimously they agreed to check.

A while later. Azzy and Cery approached the source. Hiding behind the thick vegetation, looking ahead, it was a girl. Not just any girl, she had curly black hair and skin as pale as sand. It was Scarlett… that girl.

Cery looked bothered but still made a joke. "Guess who?" she smiled, cackled a bit before floating Infront of him. Looking at him, the pressure she felt from him was gone. he made her skin crawl, but now?

Azzy Snared. "Scarlett…"

"Yeah, I'm surprised. Why is she here? Do you think she'll try to trick you again?" Cery spoke, but she wondered. "Why is she here though? didn't he just sent us here to teach Azzy about his ink?"

They waited and watched. Sofia was backed against a tree, screaming. There were three wolves, looking to be around a meter tall and 2 meters long but weirdly, it was like she was trying to draw more attention to herself. "Wait… is she—"

"Oh, that's what's she's doing?" Cery heard Azzy's thoughts. "So vile actually."

Azzy examine where they came from and told Cery; "we're heading back." His tone was tense. And that was all Cery needed to hear before following him.

Azzy walked over to a rock, sitting he asked; "How do I do it?" his gaze harden, he thought about all the times he suffered… or rather the times he remembered. He survived. How and why? That was up to heaven and hell to decide. Maybe they didn't want me

"mm…" Cery floated above him, his mind flowed through hers. And like that, her thoughts were flit with his. "Ok, Azzy." She paused, floating in the space for a second. How he made her earlier still flickered in her mind. "Ink is the name of the power. It records our past and writes our future. So, you'll use it to cover your present. How you do it is up to you."

"Mhm?" Azzy was confused, ink? Present and future? What? " Cer-" he raised his hand but got cut off.

"Yeah, I know your confused. But think about it like this. You're using a pen to draw lines on a picture." She stretched her hand, like the information was universal. "see tha-"

He stared at her, what she told him was rubbish and it was in his head, she heard him.

"Azzy, you know I can hear right?"

"Yeah and?"

jeez… did he have to be so blunt? She looked disappointed but still chose to speak. "Your ink is words. It can probably control things, since it was named commands."

"It has names?"

"Yes, it does. So, try to think of a word and write it. Make it simple. Implementing something advanced will just not work or will break you. Get it?"

He thought for a second "simple…" he looked at her, she was floating, hovering right above him. Her hair moved like it was in slow motion. Her eyes just gazed at him, they were pretty. A smirk forms on his face. "yeah, I get it." His finger pointed at her and he spoke one word.

"Spin!"

Cery stared in awe, her body rotated clockwise. She was upside down, then up then down. It was slow but it worked.

She was stun as spoke: "Wow, Azzy look if you can go faster."

"Faster? I don't know how to do that."

"Huh? Oh right…ok Azzy, let me down."

"Cery, I don't know how…"

"…"

"…"

"I'm going go into detail later… for now just imagine stopping me, ok?" she was nauseous because of the continuous spinning. her being afloat, didn't help with the situation. "Could you hurry too, I feel like I'm gonna vomit!"

"Ok..." his hands froze on her. "Stop."

Her body was suspended; her face faced the sky. "Azzy… I can't move…"

"Oh…"

"I'm struck..."
