Aurelia Shaw's voice faded away.
She stared blankly at Mason Nightshade's chest, which was bandaged securely, with no blood oozing or signs of the wound reopening. Instead, it had been cared for so well that the bindings hadn't changed at all.
Mason Nightshade laughed softly.
Aurelia Shaw realized belatedly that she'd been fooled and glared at Hartwell Nightshade.
Grayson Quinn spread his hands, "You can't entirely blame me. You were in the kitchen, and Mason's eyes were practically glued there. If you didn't come out sooner, he wasn't planning to leave me alone."
"So you used me as a shield?" Aurelia Shaw raised an eyebrow and retorted.
Grayson Quinn smiled widely, "I had no choice. You're more effective than a shield. You're Mason's vulnerability.
You know..."
Grayson Quinn's voice suddenly lowered.
"If Henry Fletcher finds out about this, will he target you?"
