"Boom——!"
Aurelia Shaw kicked the iron door, the sound echoed loudly in the empty, quiet room.
"Are you scared?" Alaric Wood asked, his red eyes staring at Aurelia.
It felt like being watched by a demon.
Each cell had a reflective mirror made of aluminum foil, probably so that the people inside could see themselves withering away every day, gradually draining their hope, turning them into a walking corpse.
Alaric glimpsed his red eyes in the reflection, quickly looked down again, and hugged himself tightly.
He had been told more than once that his eyes were ugly, like a monster's, and he hated them.
Aurelia lowered her eyes, lost in thought, unaware of Alaric's strangeness.
The night was silent.
Yet Aurelia had a nightmare; it was filled with masked people, knives, cutting open her belly, pulling out her intestines, and holding them before her with a sinister smile.
A hundred ghostly faces hovered before her eyes.
