Aurelia felt both amused and heartbroken.
She didn't know how sad and anxious he'd been, thinking she'd ignored him during this time.
He already had issues, and she worried whether she'd made him even more self-conscious, unable to interact with others.
"I'm sorry, Mason." Aurelia said with a pained heart, "Can Aunt Aurelia apologize to you? I promise, I won't leave without reason anymore, okay?"
Mason Campbell peeked out from her embrace, staring at her face for a long time, as if trying to discern whether she was speaking truthfully.
Although Aurelia had failed to keep her promises several times, Mason still extended his little finger, looking at Aurelia with hope and anxiety.
Aurelia paused for a moment, then immediately understood.
Her slender fingers hooked onto the little one's hand, with her thumb pressing lightly on his thumb, "Sealed. If I ever break my promise again, I'll give you this finger."
Mason shrank his finger back in fright.
