The woman's sharp, anger-filled voice came through the receiver, causing Bella Green to instinctively move the phone a bit farther away.
However, Emma Sutherland's words made her pause.
"You broke up with Louis Lawrence?"
"Bella Green, stop pretending. If you hadn't said something to him, why would he have broken up with me?"
That certain tone implied she was convinced Bella had said something to Louis, leading to the breakup.
"Then you should ask him. If a man would break up with you over someone else's words, are you sure he truly loves you?"
Bella Green was almost certain of her earlier suspicion, otherwise Louis wouldn't have turned around and told Emma they were over.
