Chapter 15 - Chapter : 15 : Born Saint?

Now, all the controversy and noise seemed to freeze in place because the contestants of the program had officially begun their presentations.

The rules of the show were simple. Each contestant would walk onto the stage with their family members, while the production team played a documentary-style video revealing the truth of their family's education.

The footage was not staged. It came from the program team's continuous eight-year observation records. Every important moment of the families' lives had been documented in secret detail. Although the show had a relatively small investment compared to other entertainment programs, the production cycle was astonishingly long. It was a true large-scale reality assessment program focused entirely on family education and child development.

After each contestant's video finished playing, the judges would score the family's educational performance.

At the same time, scenes from Shuying's childhood would gradually be revealed and compared alongside the contestants.

The atmosphere inside the massive stadium instantly became tense. Contestant No. 01, Su Wen, walked onto the stage with his wife and child.

Soon, the giant screen behind them lit up, and the footage of their family began to play.

Su Wen's family came from an intellectual background connected to Jinling University. Both he and his wife were university professors with stable, respected careers. Their son, Su Zixue, had grown up in an extremely privileged environment.

In the footage, Su Zixue was only twelve years old. Because both parents were busy with work, his grandmother had been responsible for raising him since childhood. She spoiled him excessively and indulged almost every request.

Yet Su Wen never believed there was a problem. In his eyes, doting on a child was simply another form of love.

But slowly, the consequences appeared. When Su Zixue secretly stole money from home for the first time, his grandmother not only failed to stop him, but quietly gave him even more money afterward.

When questionable friends came to visit, she merely frowned slightly and remained silent instead of intervening.

Later, Wen finally noticed the situation. The moment he saw those street kids surrounding his son, he exploded in anger and slapped Zixue directly across the face. "You are not allowed to play with people like this!"

But the slap did not solve anything. Instead, it pushed Zixue further into rebellion. He began stealing money more frequently, secretly smoking cigarettes, skipping school, and spending entire nights in filthy underground internet cafés.

Then the screen suddenly shifted to another scene. On a cold roadside, a ragged beggar was kneeling near the curb, asking passersby for money. Zixue and several friends surrounded him with mocking expressions.

"Call me dad, and I'll give you money. Hurry up and shout it!" Zixue laughed arrogantly as he spoke.

Inside the stadium, audience members immediately frowned. The beggar lowered his head in silence, but the group refused to stop. One of the boys suddenly kicked the beggar in the stomach, then Zixue followed and kicked him as well.

The beggar cried out in pain as the children laughed around him, forcing him to shout humiliating words just to entertain them. The footage continued until nearby pedestrians finally called the police.

When the police arrived, Wen rushed to the scene. But instead of apologizing to the victim first, he pointed furiously at his son and roared in anger.

"Disgraceful! Completely lawless! You've embarrassed our entire family!"

Not once did he ask whether the beggar was injured, not once did he mention compassion or humanity. At that moment, the entire area fell into an uncomfortable silence.

Onstage, Wen's face turned deathly pale. As a university professor, having such footage publicly exposed was almost unbearable humiliation.

Meanwhile, the live commentary section online exploded instantly.

"This is supposed to be an intellectual family? Their child became like this?"

"Wen only cares about losing face. He never cared about the beggar at all."

"So much for elite education."

"Compared to this, I'm even more curious about the Yu family now. How exactly did she grow up?"

"Exactly. A truly successful education should shape character first."

Back on the program stage, Shuying quietly watched the footage with a slight frown. Objectively speaking, Su Wen's family conditions were excellent. Good education. High social status. Financial stability. A scholarly environment. Yet the child they raised lacked even the most basic respect for others. And in her eyes, respect was the foundation of all character.

After a brief silence, she calmly looked toward the judges' table before speaking directly into the microphone. "In terms of character education, the child from Contestant No. 01's family performed extremely poorly."

Her tone was calm, but every word carried weight. Shuying had never been afraid to speak bluntly. That straightforward personality was one of the main reasons she was admired around the world.

Years ago, during the Film Festival, she had openly confronted racial discrimination onstage without hesitation. Facing a deliberately provocative celebrity, she directly asked a phrase that was considered an extremely offensive stereotype.

The media exploded with criticism afterward, but she never apologized and never changed her attitude. Because of that fearlessness, countless people praised her as upright, courageous, and impossible to suppress. Especially because she herself carried an elegant and graceful temperament, the contrast made her even more charismatic.

As a result, not only domestic educational institutions, but even many overseas universities and psychology organizations became fascinated by her upbringing. How could someone born into poverty possess such perfect values? How could a person rise from the bottom of society without developing bitterness, arrogance, or cruelty?

She faced the world like sunlight itself. Warm, confident, and bright. Yet never cold toward others. Many scholars even referred to her value system as "the modern template of ideal human character."

Numerous prestigious universities listed her interviews and cognitive philosophy as mandatory case studies for wealthy heirs and future elites. Her worldview, her emotional intelligence, and even the way she interpreted society had become textbook material. Because of this, Shuying had always been incredibly proud of herself.

She slowly turned her head toward the large screen behind her, watching the childhood footage that was about to expose her own past. Her clear voice echoed throughout the entire gymnasium.

"When I was four years old, that man never taught me anything. He never taught me how to behave. He never taught me values. He never shaped my worldview. He never trained any of my abilities. He was just an alcoholic with a terrible character. How could someone like him possibly teach me?"

The moment she finished speaking, waves of astonishment spread throughout the crowd.

"It's unbelievable… There really are people born extraordinary."

"Yu Shuying is simply too terrifying."

"How can someone possess such perfect values and such overwhelming talent at the same time?"

"Since childhood, she has shocked the world again and again with her achievements."

"And the most incredible part is her character."

"She grew up in poverty, yet she became the ideal example of modern values."

"This kind of person would rise no matter what family they were born into!"

"I agree!"

In the front rows of the gymnasium sat professors, scholars, psychologists, and educational experts from across the country. And at this moment, many of their long-held beliefs about family education had begun to crack. Because Shuying's existence seemed to prove something unbelievable.

Perhaps… A child did not necessarily need a father's guidance to become extraordinary. Perhaps true genius could still shine on its own. Even in darkness.
