Chapter 219 - Chapter 218: Infiltration

Kakashi and the team had arrived on the borders of Wakanda in the most secretive way possible.

The city did look very poor and underdeveloped at first glance but Kakashi could tell it was an illusion with his experience on genjutsu and finding out small inconsistencies.

From a distance, the buildings appeared to be simple huts made of mud and thatch. The roads looked rough and unpaved. People seemed to live simple farming lives with basic tools.

However, Kakashi's trained eye picked up on details that did not match reality. He noticed how the wind was a little slower than what was outside the supposed border. The breeze moved differently, almost lazily, as if it was being held back by something.

Like the sounds coming out of the city were little muted and how some voices were repeated over time. These tiny flaws reminded him of how shinobi figure out if they were in a genjutsu or not.

It confirmed to him that they were looking at a carefully crafted holographic barrier designed to fool outsiders.

It did not take long for Kakashi to find someone coming out of the barrier that put the illusion over the city. A lone guard stepped through what looked like empty air, briefly shimmering as he passed the hidden line.

Kakashi acted quickly. He used genjutsu on him immediately to find the best way to enter the city. His hand formed the necessary signs in a flash, and his eye met the guard's gaze. The man froze in place, his mind now under Kakashi's gentle control.

The genjutsu allowed Kakashi to pull information without causing harm or raising alarms. He learned the exact protocols for crossing the barrier safely.

"So the barrier around the city sends a signal to those monitoring it. They match the profiles with their citizens before allowing them entry or if someone else enters, they would be immediately detained," Kakashi muttered.

Kakashi made the guard forget everything about him and do what he wanted. The guard continued on his way as if nothing had happened, carrying out his normal duties while the team prepared to use the knowledge.

"So we are going with the plan?" Natasha asked. She checked her weapons one last time and looked at Kakashi for confirmation.

Natasha trusted the plan but wanted to make sure everyone was aligned before they took the next risky step.

"Yes," Kakashi said as he used transformation jutsu to transform himself into one of his Wakandan attackers as he took on the appearance of the female warrior they had faced before.

He then took out the scroll in which the gear of his attacker was kept. They equipped the weapons and tools that matched the disguise exactly.

Natasha, Clint and Cap did the same and transformed into the masked attackers. They had practiced the transformation jutsu enough to make it work reliably.

With disguises on, they entered the barrier and stepped behind the holographic city and saw the real Wakanda. The shift was sudden and breathtaking. One moment they walked through what looked like poor farmland, and the next they stood in a completely different world of wonder.

Clint muttered "Damn..." The word escaped before he could stop it. From the outside, Wakanda was supposed to be another poor African nation, all mud huts, farmers, and forgotten roads.

The reality beneath it made Manhattan look primitive. Towering skyscrapers curved toward the heavens like works of art rather than plain engineering.

There were no traffic jams. No endless chorus of car horns. Vehicles hovered a few feet above immaculate roads. Pedestrians crossed without fear, because the vehicles simply adjusted around them before anyone could even notice.

Every building was alive with greenery. Trees grew from terraces hundreds of feet in the air. People walked confidently through the streets wearing clothes that mixed ancient African traditions with futuristic design. Robes woven with glowing threads.

They saw jets in the air, fighter jets that would make S.H.I.E.L.D. cry tears of blood if they saw this level of technology.

"You were right Kakashi. If these people ever decided to conquer the world... the world wouldn't even realize it had already lost until Wakanda decided the war was over," Natasha said.

The four Avengers eyes narrowed as a pair of guards approached them. They kept their postures confident like trained warriors returning from a mission.

"Be ready," Kakashi muttered. He prepared himself mentally for possible combat even though their disguises should hold.

Clint quickly asked a question that was on his mind. "Would they not be mad about you killing six of their people?" He kept his voice very quiet so only the team could hear.

Kakashi said, "They were trained soldiers. They were probably expected to die anyways. Besides this is a monarchy. I do not think kings care much for disposable soldiers that they send to attack someone very strong." He explained his reasoning calmly.

In his experience with hidden villages and rulers, leaders often sacrificed troops for larger goals. The mission had been dangerous from the start, and failure was a risk they accepted. Kakashi believed the king would focus more on the results than individual losses.

They then quieted down as the guards approached.

And to their surprise, the guards saluted them. "We greet the Dora Milaje." The guards showed clear respect in their posture and voices.

'Dora Milaje huh... these women seemed to be respected,' Kakashi thought.

"Could you alert his highness and the council of our return... we would like to report about our mission and... how we failed?" Kakashi said in the woman's voice in the local language that he had already learned.

The two guards looked at them in shock when he said he failed the mission. Their eyes widened briefly, showing they had not expected bad news.

One of the guards saluted and scrambled as the other led them to what was the royal palace.

The palace rose high with elegant architecture that blended nature and technology seamlessly. Beautiful gardens surrounded it, and guards stood at attention at every entrance.

The other guard was there to meet them at the gate. "The king has been informed about your arrival. The council has gathered and they would see you now," he said.
