Chapter 2 - Stabbed

CHAP 1

On a path under the beautiful night sky illuminated by the countless stars, a neatly dressed man in his mid forties holding a lantern walk's towards a pavilion.

Two guards by his sides each an Early Peak level Martial master.

As they approach the pavilion a dark shadowy figure suddenly appears behind the man being guarded.

Before the two guards could react this figure covers the mouth of the man with his right hand filled with scars.

With his left hand also marked with scars he rips out the wind pipe of the man, spraying blood everywhere.

The man struggles painfully but could do nothing but stare up at the figures face in the midst of the stars.

His eyes slowly dim.

By the time the two guards could react...

Their heads were rolling on the ground with their eyes wide open as their bodies slowly drop to the ground.

They didn't even realize when they were killed.

Not too long after their corpses are found.

The moment they are found, alarm bells ring throughout each sect.

Yet no one moves to pursue the killer.

Not a single person.

The disciples responsible for sounding the alarm are trembling so violently that they can barely remain standing.

Their faces are drained of color, their hands shaking uncontrollably.

Fear.

Pure, undisguised fear.

Because they know exactly who is responsible.

And none of them possess the courage to stand in that monster's path.

Instead of pursuing the killer, terrified screams erupted throughout the Murim Alliance headquarters.

"S-Sangdaejong!"

"Sangdaejong is here!"

"Run!"

"The Chief Advisor has been killed!"

The cries spread like wildfire.

Panic exploded across the headquarters as martial artists and officials alike abandoned all composure.

People rushed through corridors in a desperate scramble for safety, shoving one another aside as they searched for somewhere, anywhere to hide.

For a brief moment, the Murim Alliance descended into complete chaos.

Then came the silence.

Doors slammed shut one after another.

Bang!

Bang!

Bang!

Within moments, the once-bustling headquarters became as silent as a graveyard.

No footsteps.

No voices.

No movement.

Only the mournful howl of the wind drifting through the empty halls.

All of this fear.

All of this chaos.

For a single man.

A man who had already completed his mission and left long ago.

P.O.V. David

Majestically, I take a stroll through the Heavenly Demonic Cult.

It was not common that I was out in the open for everyone to see.

With every step I take, as long as there was someone near, they would drop on their knees, few in admiration but most in fear.

Why?

Well for one, at this moment my shoes and hands are soaked in blood, making every step i take leave a print of blood behind.

But thats not really it.

By now it should be known to quite a number within the cult that I went to assassinate the Chief Advisor of the murim alliance, a Late Peak martial master.

Walking into the Murim Alliance headquarters, killing a key figure, and leaving without shedding a single strand of hair.

As expected.

Is there really no one left in Jianghu capable of stopping me?

Many know me as...

"Oh? If it isn't Sangdaejong himself."

The woman lounging on the throne rested her chin on one hand as she looked down at me.

"The Death God. The King of Death. Have you finally returned from your little trip?"

Her crimson hair cascaded over her shoulders like flowing silk, and despite her relaxed posture, she carried an undeniable majesty.

The ruler of the Heavenly Demon Cult.

My little sister.

Standing quietly beside the throne, the Chief Advisor lowered his head and pretended not to exist.

I smiled.

"Oh, Great Demon Lord, you honor me too much. This humble one is unworthy of such praise."

I gave a slight bow.

The next moment...

Whoosh!

A sword shot toward my face.

I tilted my head slightly.

The blade flashed past my cheek before burying itself deep into the stone floor behind me.

BOOM!

Cracks spread across the ground.

I glanced at the sword before looking back at the woman on the throne.

"Oh, Great Demon Lord, if you wanted my head, you only needed to ask."

My smile widened.

"I would have gladly delivered it to you on a golden platter. Perhaps with some roasted chicken as a side dish."

The vein on Diana's forehead twitched.

The sight was simply too enjoyable.

The Chief Advisor immediately sensed danger.

"Ahem... I believe I shall take my leave."

Without waiting for permission, the old man hurried out of the palace.

I watched his retreating figure.

"You frightened the poor old man."

"You deserve worse."

Diana crossed her arms and glared at me.

"You didn't have to kill him, David."

Her playful expression had vanished.

I shrugged.

"He was planning your assassination."

"He isn't the first."

She leaned back on her throne.

"Besides, excluding you, there isn't a single assassin in the world capable of threatening me."

I walked toward her.

One step.

Then another.

Until I stood directly before the throne.

Looking down at her, I smiled.

"Oh, my adorable little sister."

I reached out and gently patted her head.

"I didn't kill him because I feared he might succeed."

Pat.

"I killed him because he dared to think about harming my Diana."

For a moment, Diana froze.

Then her face turned red.

Not from anger.

From embarrassment.

She immediately slapped my hand away.

"Stop treating me like a child!"

I laughed.

A genuine laugh.

"The Murim Alliance should be grateful."

My eyes narrowed slightly.

"Had I been in a worse mood, I would have reduced their headquarters to rubble."

Diana clicked her tongue and looked away, her ears noticeably red.

Seeing the feared Heavenly Demon Lord of the Divine Cult acting like this...

It never stopped being amusing.

No matter how many years passed.

We siblings are not from this world of Murim, we come from Earth.

After a car crash accident we got transmigrated here.

Waking up in the bodies of two orphans with the same age as when we were on earth.

One thirteen and the other nine, we had to fend for ourselves right off the bat.

Starting from scratch we had to learn to fight and defend ourselves.

Luckily we had some knowledge from earth on muscle training which helped for a while.

We met an injured master after two years in this land.

She taught us a lot before passing away from her previous injuries.

We somehow joined the Heavenly Demon Cult as per her recommendation after eight years in the Murim.

Fighting from the bottom.

Stepping over bodies.

Bathing in the blood of others.

And always looking out for each other.

We rose to the top, not just in the Cult but in the entire Murim after nineteen years in this world.

"What are you thinking about, we have to be on our way, its almost time." Diana snaps me back to reality.

And now we are going a step further to unite the whole Murim under us.

"Hopefully we receive some good news this time" Diana says as we both walk out.

Entering the hall for the meeting everyone present in the hall rises up and with a bow, they all greet the Demon Lord.

"Long live the Heavenly Demon Cult, long live the Heavenly Demon Lord."

Diana raises her hand signalling they all be at ease.

They all take their seat after Diana had taken hers.

I take my seat beside Diana, placing my feet on the table, some are discontent but what could they possibly do about it, haha.

The Cult advisor steps forth to begin the meeting.

They talk about a lot of things which are of no concern to me.

I sit relaxed when I suddenly sense something in the air.

Faint but it was there, masked with fragrant incense so no one would be able to tell what it was, but no one can deceive my senses, not after everything I've been through.

It was the notorious Ki dispersing poison.

No one else seems to have noticed.

I immediately sit up, there's no need to hold my breath as I and my sister have already become immune to all poisons.

But who would dare to do such at the heart of the Heavenly Demon Cult.

I immediately scan the area with my heightened senses but something feels off, my senses are blurry, what's going on? This dispersing poison couldn't possibly affect me so...

I cease my thoughts as I turn to my sister, realizing my little sister could be in danger I jump up from my seat.

"We need to leave now Diana." I say to her hurriedly.

"Huhh?" she replies in confusion.

"Now Diana!"

Seeing how serious I am she sighs and stands up.

We leave the meeting hall.

Heading to the Cult Leaders Palace Diana asks.

"I trust your extra ordinary senses but can you at least tell me what's going on?"

"We are under attack." I reply.

"Attack?" Diana replies bursting out laughing as we walk into the Palace.

"Who would possibly dare attack the cult? Especially when we are present." she asks mockingly.

"I dont know, neither do I know who the target is, but can't you sense the poison in the air?"

"What poi..." she stops short as she begins to sense it."

It's become stronger, what could be their goal.

"Well even if i can sense it, aren't we immune to all poisons?" Diana asks in confusion as to why I am so riled up.

"Try circulating your ki."

From the expression on her face three second after I told her to I could see I was right.

"What the fuck..." Diana blurts out.

Just then everywhere becomes silent, too silent.

"We are surrounded." I unwind my chained blood scythe.

It was one of the things that got me the title Sangdaejong, King of Death.

It became a rumoured treasure, saying anyone who could get his hands on it would inherit the powers of death itself. Of course thats all bullshit.

"They number over three hundred, all extremely skilled. So we were the target huh?" Diana says as she pull out her sword.

The sword that could only be wielded my none other than the Cult Leader.

"You all dare to target I the Heavenly Demon Lord and my elder brother Mr Sangdaejong." Diana yells out mocking me at the last statement.

I couldn't help but smile.

Even in this situation she still had to take the opportunity to tease me.

"Oh great Demon Lord, who could dare aim for the heads of the two strongest beings of the cult." A males voice drawing nearer is heard from outside the palace.

"Except one is sure that he could definitely have your heads." The males voice states.
