Sato, Kobayashi, Gabriel, Saitama, and a certain dragon girl were sitting around a table, exchanging awkward stares.
Kobayashi looked at the frozen scene before her with a pained expression. A quick glance at the wall clock confirmed that she was definitely late for work now, and she gave up completely.
The valiant and heroic Caped Baldy from earlier now sat in a daze at the low table, his eyes lifeless.
Tohru, the dragon girl in a maid outfit, nervously swished her tail as she watched the others with guarded eyes, occasionally shooting a carnivorous glare at the blonde-haired angel across from her.
Said angel, Gabriel, was lazily scratching her messy hair, one cheek resting on her palm as she yawned. Since she was already late anyway, she might as well think of a reason to skip school and stay home gaming.
As for the green-scaled dragon glaring at her? She ignored her completely. There were two heavy-hitters sitting beside her, if Tohru wanted a fight, she'd have to get through them first.
Not that Gabriel thought she could.
So better to stay lazy. Laziness was peace...
"Hey, could someone please say something already?"
Sato glanced around at the dead silent group. After a moment of silence himself, he finally spoke, feeling a bit annoyed.
Are we just going to keep sitting here like statues?
Say what, though…? Like, "Why are all of you so freakin' powerful?"
Kobayashi cast a quiet glance around the table. Was she the only normal human in the room?
If it weren't for Tohru today, she might have lived her whole life without realizing her apartment was filled with non-human residents.
Now, Kobayashi was beyond stunned. She just wanted to stay quiet and let the madness pass.
Everyone already knew what had happened. Kobayashi even bore the magical contract seal from her agreement with Tohru. In other words, nobody here was slaying dragons, now they were just neighbors in the same building.
Saitama didn't care.
Gabriel had already sunk deep into her gaming-obsessed shut-in lifestyle. She had zero interest in understanding any dragon-angel animosity.
Tohru, for her part, had transitioned from chaos dragon to human housemaid with disturbing speed.
Kobayashi was still a bit overwhelmed but she'd accepted it. There was no going back now.
So… was this whole chaotic mess really how the day started?
Sato's expression twitched slightly.

The sudden knock jolted the entire room full of near-statues into collectively turning toward the door.
"I'll get it."
Kobayashi stood and walked to the door, puzzled. Who could be visiting at this hour?
"Hello, I'm from the Chiba City Special Safety... wait, WHAT?! Sato?!"
A confident female teacher from the private integrated high school had been flashing her ID with a serious look, but when her eyes caught sight of someone inside the room, she let out a curse.
Sato twitched at the sound of her voice.
"Ms. Hiratsuka?!"
Well, this was unexpected!
Hiratsuka Shizuka was equally stunned, but she recovered quickly. Her sharp gaze swept across the room.
The moment she took in the scene, she gasped.

That girl wagging her tail... Was that the same Chaos Dragon from earlier?! She's S-Class too!

Shizuka's head snapped toward Sato. Her eye twitched as she shut off her comms.
"…Got it."
She walked over and casually plopped herself down at the table, then looked around at the monster-class lineup.
"So... can someone please explain what's going on here?"
"Um… I'll explain."
Eventually, the one who "adopted" the dragon girl, Kobayashi, raised her hand hesitantly.

"WHAT THE ACTUAL...?! So you just casually adopted an S-Class dragon?! AND made her your maid?!"
After Kobayashi finished recounting the story, Hiratsuka Shizuka gasped, jealousy practically oozing out of her pores.

"Is… is this going to be a problem?"
Kobayashi asked carefully. She was just an ordinary office worker after all, this was her first time seeing the other side of the world.
"Well, since you've formed a contract, as long as you follow the rules, she can stay. But you'll need a special permit for raising an interdimensional dangerous creature. Come with me to apply for it later."
"So I can stay with Kobayashi?!"
Tohru, who had been quietly listening, suddenly beamed. Her emerald eyes sparkled with joy, and her thick green tail wagged back and forth like a dog's.
"Of course. But you're lucky you didn't hurt anyone. If you had, contract or not, we'd have had to put you down!"

Tohru shrank back. In her old world, humans who challenged dragons were weak as chicks.
But humans here were on a whole different level…
She cautiously glanced at Sato, Saitama, and the nearly-asleep angel.
"And you, don't you think you owe us an explanation?"
Shizuka suddenly narrowed her eyes at Sato.
I've been around you for ages and never noticed you were an ability user?!
"I'm just a regular guy who happened to be passing by."
Sato replied earnestly.
"Pfft!"
Shizuka glared at him.
Regular? You're lying straight to my face, kid!
Still, thinking of the power Sato had just shown, she rubbed her forehead, suddenly exhausted.
To think he's been hiding this much power for over a decade… that's some serious self-control.
"Whatever. You're coming with me to get registered."
"Huh? But I've got school."
"Screw school! I've got class too, and here I am cleaning up your mess! I'll call in your excuse!"
"I want to skip school too!"
Suddenly, Gabriel perked up and raised her hand energetically.

Shizuka turned to look at the weird angel and couldn't help muttering in her mind.
What the hell happened to this angel? She definitely wasn't like this when she first showed up...
