Chapter 88 - The Miracle of Love

Beneath the Quiet Moon

The vast desert was slowly fading into the distance. The vehicle had left the sandy tracks behind and was now travelling along a paved road. The golden dunes could still be seen stretching beneath the moonlight, but with every passing moment, they grew farther away.

Ramish and Richer sat quietly in their seats, watching the desert recede behind them, as though both were silently bidding farewell to the beautiful landscape. Just a few hours earlier, they had laughed in that very desert, danced together, and gathered memories they might cherish in their hearts for years to come.

Silence filled the car. Outside, the gentle moonlight illuminated the scenery along the road.

After a while, Ramish broke the silence.

"Richer, are we going back to Dubai tomorrow? You didn't even tell me."

Richer looked at him and replied, "Yes. The manager only told me this morning that we have to return to Dubai tomorrow. We'll stay there for a day, then continue our journey and enjoy the remaining places as well."

Ramish nodded silently, blinking slowly. There was no particular expression on his face, but perhaps the thought of this journey coming to an end was already making him feel sad.

Richer watched him for a few moments before asking, "Ramish, would you like to stay in Abu Dhabi for a few more days?"

Ramish answered with a faint smile.

"No, I was just asking."

Looking out of the window, Richer said, "Ramish, we'll leave for Dubai tomorrow evening. If you want, we can visit somewhere nearby during the day."

A slight smile spread across Ramish's lips.

"All right. But could we go somewhere tomorrow where we can sit peacefully and talk?"

Richer glanced at him mischievously.

"We can talk in the hotel room, too. Why do we need to go somewhere else for that?"

Ramish smiled in return.

"Yes, you're right."

Richer burst out laughing.

"Oh, I was only joking! I'll ask the manager to take us somewhere tomorrow that's peaceful, quiet, and beautiful. We can sit there comfortably and talk."

Ramish replied in a soft voice, "Yes, all right."

There was a longing hidden in his tone that he perhaps could not bring himself to express openly. He wanted to spend some time with Richer without crowds, without the rush of scheduled activities, and without any excuse to avoid the questions that remained between them.

After a while, Richer broke the silence.

"Ramish, Mehmat and Zuraiz seem to share a very deep love. They look so happy together."

Ramish turned towards him and replied, "Yes, Mehmat loves Zuraiz very much. There was a time when Zuraiz didn't accept Mehmat's love."

Richer asked with some curiosity, "Do you know why it took him so long to accept Mehmat's love?"

Ramish took a deep breath.

"Perhaps he was afraid of the world, too, or maybe he was afraid to accept his own feelings. It might have taken him some time to understand what he truly felt for Mehmat."

As soon as Ramish finished speaking, Richer fell silent.

It felt as though Ramish was telling Zuraiz's story while actually speaking about Richer's own heart. As though he wanted Richer to understand that, despite fear and confusion, a person eventually has to face their feelings.

Richer tried to push the thought out of his mind and changed the subject.

"You seem to share a close friendship with Mehmat and Zuraiz, too. They care about you a lot."

Ramish gave a soft laugh.

"I first met Zuraiz at Global Village. Perhaps he cares about me so much because of Mehmat. It was Zuraiz who arranged for me to meet you at Mehmat's request."

He fell silent for a few moments before continuing, his voice filled with deep affection.

"Actually, after I came to Dubai, Mehmat was the one who gave me courage. He believed I would meet you one day. Even when you were far away from me and loneliness was beginning to break me from within, he was the one who kept encouraging me. Perhaps he was the only person who supported me through my loneliness and never considered my dream impossible."

Richer's gaze remained fixed on Ramish's face. He listened quietly, as though trying to understand the pain hidden behind his words.

Then, in a soft voice, he said, "I see."

Ramish remained silent for a few moments before looking at Richer.

"Richer, didn't you enjoy meeting Mehmat and Zuraiz?"

Richer answered immediately.

"No, it's not that. They're both wonderful people. I really enjoyed meeting them, too. Spending time with them didn't feel like meeting strangers at all."

Ramish smiled.

"That's just how Mehmat is. I felt the same way when I first met him, as though I'd known him for years. Talking to him has always been easy. Perhaps that's why I can never hide my worries from him."

The car continued along the quiet road. Moonlight stretched across the landscape, and the last of the desert dunes could still be seen in the distance.

Richer sat silently for a while. Then he slowly turned towards Ramish.

"Ramish, can I rest my head on your shoulder?"

Ramish looked at him in surprise. The question was unexpected, but a gentle smile soon spread across his face.

"Richer, you don't need to ask me any of these things. I've already given you the right to be close to me. Whenever you feel like hugging me, just hug me. Rest your head on my shoulder, or talk to me whenever you feel like it. Don't overthink it. You don't need my permission. Just come to me."

Richer continued looking at him silently.

Ramish gently continued, "You don't have to force yourself to tell me everything that's in your heart, either. Whenever you feel ready, you can talk to me. I'll always be here to listen."

For a moment, something unspoken flickered in Richer's eyes. Perhaps he could feel the love hidden in Ramish's words, or perhaps he was beginning to realise that someone was willing to give him so much space without asking for anything in return.

He looked at Ramish for a moment longer, then quietly moved closer and rested his head on his shoulder.

Feeling Richer settle against him, a peaceful smile spread across Ramish's face. He asked no questions and made no attempt to discover what the gesture meant to Richer. He simply wanted to savour the moment.

The car continued towards its destination. Outside, moonlight lay across the road, while the quiet of the night enveloped everything around them.

Two hearts travelled side by side, sitting close to each other. Countless questions, fears, and uncertainties still remained between them, yet neither felt the need to put any of them into words at that moment.

Richer's head rested on Ramish's shoulder, and for Ramish, that closeness was enough.

Perhaps love did not always need grand promises or confessions to prove itself. Sometimes, quietly moving closer to someone, resting the weight of one's heart on their shoulder for a few moments, and finding a sense of safety in that closeness could say more than words ever could.

But Ramish knew that these few peaceful moments were not answers to all his questions.

And perhaps Richer himself did not yet know whether he had rested his head on Ramish's shoulder simply to find comfort, or whether he had moved closer to a desire hidden deep within his heart—a desire he had been afraid to acknowledge until now.
