Hearing that question, Nolan looked slightly surprised.
"Change history?" He pondered it for a moment before shaking his head. "No, that won't happen. Nothing you or I do will change history at all. The future we come from is already a foregone conclusion. So you don't need to worry."
Evalyn let out a sigh of relief. The worry that had been weighing on her vanished in an instant.
"Thank you," she said softly with a gentle smile.
Nolan returned the smile. Then, as if remembering something, he reached into his pocket and handed a round token to Evalyn.
"Take this. Don't leave it behind, and definitely don't lose it. It will help you," he warned.
Evalyn accepted the token and immediately thought of the handkerchief that had once saved her life.
She wanted to say something but held it back.
"Thank you. I'll keep it."
She clenched the token tightly, as if she would never let it go.
