It was not until his aura completely vanished that Bibi Dong withdrew her gaze, turning around to walk into the bedchamber. She walked to the vanity table and looked at herself in the mirror. The blue necklace around her neck was particularly striking; she reached out to gently touch it, still able to feel the lingering aura of him remaining on it.
"Tears of the Wind God..." She whispered the name, the corner of her mouth unconsciously lifting into a faint smile.
That night, Bibi Dong slept exceptionally peacefully. There were no nightmares, no waking up startled, only a warm, reassuring aura wrapping around her, as if that person had never left.
For the next few days, everything in Spirit Hall remained as usual. Bibi Dong continued to handle complicated affairs, summoning elders, listening to reports, and issuing commands. Only occasionally, in the gaps of her busyness, would she subconsciously touch the necklace on her chest, thinking of that man who smiled like a fox.
"Your Holiness the Pope?" Ghost Douluo's voice pulled Bibi Dong from her distraction back to reality.
Bibi Dong quickly gathered her thoughts, restoring her usual cold demeanor. "Continue."
Ghost Douluo answered respectfully and continued his report: "...The Star Luo Empire has shown some unusual movements recently; it seems they are making contact with the Clear Sky Sect. Additionally, the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect is also secretly recruiting troops and building forces, their intentions unclear."
Bibi Dong's eyes turned cold. "The Clear Sky Sect... It seems they still haven't given up."
"Does Your Holiness need a subordinate to send people to warn them?" Ghost Douluo asked.
"No need." Bibi Dong waved her hand, her fingertips lightly tapping the armrest. "Let them jump. The higher they jump, the harder they will fall. Send people to keep a close watch on them; if there is any sign of trouble, report immediately."
"Yes." Ghost Douluo accepted the order, hesitated for a moment, then added, "Your Holiness the Pope, there is one more matter... regarding that Tang San..."
Hearing this name, a trace of killing intent flashed in Bibi Dong's eyes. "What about him?"
"He seems to be searching for something recently, his whereabouts are mysterious. Moreover, his strength is improving very rapidly; he has already broken through to Soul Emperor." Ghost Douluo's tone was grave. "This child possesses exceptional talent; if left unchecked, I fear he will become a major threat to our Spirit Hall in the future."
Bibi Dong sneered. "A major threat? Does he deserve that title? He is merely an ant with slightly better luck."
Although she said this, a trace of vigilance rose in her heart. Tang San's talent was indeed astonishing, and with the protection of the Clear Sky Sect and that person, he was indeed a hidden danger. However, now was not the time to move against him.
"Continue surveillance, do not alert the enemy prematurely," Bibi Dong instructed. "I want to see what waves he can stir up."
"Yes." Ghost Douluo bowed and withdrew.
Quiet returned to the great hall. Bibi Dong leaned against the back of her chair and rubbed her brow. Although she said she didn't care, Tang San's existence was indeed like a thorn pricking her heart. That woman's son... Just thinking about it made her feel nauseous.
She subconsciously gripped the necklace on her chest tightly; the cold touch helped her calm down. Now was not the time for impulsive actions. She had more important things to do and could not lose her composure because of an insignificant person.
Three days later, Bibi Dong was reviewing memorials when suddenly, the Tears of the Wind God on her chest grew slightly warm. Her actions paused; she put down her pen, and the corner of her mouth unconsciously lifted.
"Finally willing to come back?"
As soon as her voice fell, a clear breeze brushed past, and Dai Chengfeng's figure appeared in the center of the great hall. He still maintained that romantic and unconstrained appearance, though there was a trace of imperceptible fatigue between his brows.
"Missed me?" Dai Chengfeng smiled as he walked to her side, bending down very naturally to steal a kiss on her lips.
Bibi Dong did not dodge; she merely raised an eyebrow and looked at him. "Finished with your matters?"
"Mn, temporarily settled." Dai Chengfeng sat down beside her, very naturally picking up the tea she had half-drunk and taking a sip. "Did you miss me these past few days?"
"No." Bibi Dong denied without changing her expression, yet she reached out to fix his somewhat messy collar for him.
Dai Chengfeng caught her hand, brought it to his lips to kiss it, and laughed lowly. "You cutie who says one thing but means another."
Bibi Dong glared at him but did not withdraw her hand. "Did you encounter any trouble when you went back this time?"
"A little trouble, but it's already resolved." Dai Chengfeng's tone was relaxed, but Bibi Dong keenly noticed a flash of gravity in the depths of his eyes. She did not press the question, simply reversing her hand to grip his.
"Oh right, I brought you a gift." As if remembering something, Dai Chengfeng took a small jade box from his bosom and opened it. Inside was a crystal-clear fruit emitting a tempting aroma, surrounded by a faint, seven-colored halo.
"What is this?" Bibi Dong asked curiously.
"Seven-Colored Glazed Fruit." Dai Chengfeng offered the fruit to her mouth. "Taste it; the flavor is nice, and it's good for your body."
Bibi Dong took a bite from his hand; the flesh melted upon entering her mouth. The clear, sweet juice slid down her throat, and a warm current instantly spread throughout her entire body, sweeping away all the fatigue from handling official duties over the past few days.
"How is it?" Dai Chengfeng asked expectantly.
"Not bad." Bibi Dong nodded, pushing the remaining half of the fruit to his mouth. "You eat some too."
Dai Chengfeng was stunned for a moment, then a gentle smile rippled in his eyes. He lowered his head to eat the fruit, the tip of his tongue unintentionally licking over her fingertips. Bibi Dong's finger trembled, the roots of her ears flushing slightly red, but she did not withdraw her hand.
"Indeed very sweet." Dai Chengfeng looked at her meaningfully, smiling like a cat that had stolen fish.
Bibi Dong punched him with feigned annoyance, but he took the momentum to pull her into his embrace.
"Dong'er," Dai Chengfeng put away his joking expression and looked at her seriously. "During the few days I was away, did anything happen in Spirit Hall?"
"Everything is as usual." Bibi Dong leaned against his chest, playing with his fingers. "It's just that the Star Luo Empire and the Clear Sky Sect are being somewhat restless, and there's that Tang San..."
Mentioning Tang San, her tone cooled down.
Dai Chengfeng's eyes darkened slightly as he gently stroked her long hair. "Do you need me to help you handle them?"
"No need." Bibi Dong shook her head, a trace of cold sharpness flashing in her eyes. "This is my matter; I want to finish it personally."
"Alright." Dai Chengfeng did not force the issue, only lowering his head to kiss the top of her hair. "But remember, no matter what you want to do, I will be by your side. If you get tired, my shoulder is always here for you to lean on."
Bibi Dong felt warmth in her heart; she lightly hummed an "Mn" and buried her face in his embrace.
The two embraced for a moment before Dai Chengfeng suddenly asked, "Oh right, I heard some strange rumors have appeared on the continent recently."
"What rumors?"
"Regarding God Inheritances." Dai Chengfeng's tone was somewhat grave. "It is said that someone discovered the ruins of the Ice God's inheritance in the Extreme North Lands, and others have seen abnormal phenomena around Sea God Island overseas. It seems... many gods are searching for heirs."
Bibi Dong raised her head, her brows slightly furrowed. "Do you mean the God Realm is planning something big?"
