Two days later....
After returning to Earth, Kaya had genuinely believed she could finally live a normal life.
For a former soldier operating in the high-stakes underworld of global conglomerates, her definition of "normal" was undeniably skewed. To her, dodging assassination attempts, outmaneuvering corporate spies, or being chased by heavily armed syndicates was perfectly acceptable. That was a human game, played by human rules, with human bullets. It was predictable. She had sworn to herself that she was done with the unpredictable, untamed nightmare of the Beast World.
Her body still bore the invisible scars of that dimension. She had to undergo intensive, highly classified medical screenings every single week just to ensure no dormant alien parasites or residual canyon toxins were lingering in her bloodstream. She had zero desire to ever look at another beastman as long as she lived.
But the universe, it seemed, refused to let her rest.
