He had been fully convinced the final spot on the team was his. As an A-Rank Hunter, he told himself he was more than qualified. More importantly, he knew the risk of this mission , but to him the reward far outweighed the danger.
If he survived an SS-Rank dungeon alongside S-Rank elites, his name would spread across everywhere in the country.
People would start talking about him alongside the strongest hunters of the age. Some might even begin to wonder if he deserved a place among the S-Ranks himself. That was exactly what Clyde wanted. To stand beside them, to be seen as their equal, and to force the world to acknowledge his worth. Basically squeezing himself in.
That possibility alone had fueled his confidence from the moment he heard about the mission.
