Chapter 20 - ATB 8

"I missed you so much." I hugged her, "I missed you too, that's why I came to see you," she her arms wrapped around me.

"I heard some good news on my way here." She loosen the hug.

"What was it?" I asked impatiently.

"That you were engaged," she said. I giggled as acknowledged her words.

Prince karl grab our attention as he spoke "You, young ladies, are ignoring us,"

"It is merely the reunion excitement. May I say about a year went since we were last together." Esther replied, and gently squeezed my hands.

I looked between Prince Karl and Esther, their relationship seems to have improved. He couldn't take his eyes off her; she smiled, her eyes glittered whenever she caught his gaze. "Your relationship, it improved, admiredly so." I commented, my eyes looked on her face as I gauge her facial expressions,

"Yours as well," her gaze drifted from me to Léon.

"Esther, that necklace you gave me, the fire pearl. There must be a signification to it, am I right?" I asked my sister.

"I could say, this necklace always gave me what I wished for. It always appeared to there whenever I was in need of comfort. I left it to you, because I want you to be comforted when you need, to feel love and experience happiness every day of your life," she her eyes never left mine as she spoke.

Her answer surprised me; she gave me something that she cherished something that she needed, with hope that I will never be in agony.

"Thank you, sister." I smiled, then hugged her a second time. I whispered to her, "Is something like that necklace tge reason your relationship with Prince Karl improve?" "I think so," she whispered back playfully, her arms tight around me.

"Evelyne, if I may, how about we let them get a rest. I am certain their journey here was long and eventful," Léon suggested.

I looked down at Léon's seated form and agreed, letting go of Esther, "Ah, yes, you should rest, you must fatigue."

"True three weeks in a carriage is tiresome. We shall go up first," my sister nodded. Prince Karl stood, towering over us with his height, and Léon stood after him. "It was a pleasure to see you again, your highness, Sire Léon. We shall see each other again for supper," Prince Karl smiled. Léon nodded and I replied "It was indeed a pleasure," and they left. I turned to Léon, and he looked at me. We said nothing for about a clock tick, then I asked "Shall we return inside?"

"I still have a meeting to attend in the afternoon, my queen. I shall entrust Éviene to your care," he said. "Alright." I sighed, "I hope your meeting will be pleasant." I added as he kissed my forehead, then he left.

I sat there for a moment, thinking about the future, my future with Sir Léon. "Léon was soon to be king."

I stood up, I was about to stroll through the garden when a servant walked up to me. "Mid-day, your highness," the servant greeted me.

"Mid-day, what brings you?" I asked.

"Prince Jordan has arrived," he informed me.

"Prince Jordan? It's rare to have the fine young man around; lead him here."

Prince Jordan, my dear little cousin, well, not so little anymore, wished to see me. I sat back at the table and waited for his arrival. Soon, the butler announced "His highness Prince Jordan."
