Chapter 157 - Chapter 157: Cooper Vs Gildarts!

(Before y'all even read, who do you have winning?)

Third POV

Everyone from Fairy Tail followed Gildarts and Cooper as they left Magnolia, heading into the remnants of a forest, far enough away from the city to spare it from damage.

"Damn, what happened here?" Scratching his head, Gildarts looked around at the destroyed forest before glancing at Cooper, who thankfully elaborated. "Laxus and I had a bit of a disagreement." "Huh, is that so? Was it over a woman? Mira? Hehe, seeing how he's not here, you must've won. I might need to fight you." Smirking with a lustful expression, Gildarts turned to Mira, who was with the group, and waved.

"You'll be mine soon, Mira!" As they listened to Gildarts, Mirajane wryly smiled while Cana snorted. "Pervy old man."

"So, what kind of magic does Gildarts use?" Curious, Lucy looked at Cana, her question causing the newest members, Gajeel, Juvia, Wendy, Minerva, Sting, Rogue, Orga, Rufus, Dobengal, and Yukino to look at her. Cana briefly glanced at Lucy, noticing her and everyone else's curiosity. "He uses crush magic. It's very powerful, smashes everything the user comes into contact with… If you thought big bro was destructive, be prepared to see true destruction."

Once finished speaking, Cana downed her bottle of rum while the others were left to contemplate her words. "I find it difficult to believe big bro could lose. I bet he'll win." Muttered Minvera softly as she clenched her fist with heart-shaped eyes, earning a few nods from her fellow guild members, as well as Lucy, Gajeel, and Juvia.

"Heh, don't be so narrow-minded, guys. I used to believe Erza was invincible until I saw big bro." Folding his arms, Gray glanced at Minerva, whose confidence remained firm while the others wavered. "I want to fight him." Grinning, Orga clenched his fist, only for a pair of hands to suddenly pinch his cheeks from behind. "Fufu, you're so cute, Orga." "M-Mira, can you please stop?" Although he asked meekly, Mirajane showed no signs of stopping, causing him to pout in defeat.

"Hey, last round of betting! If you don't bet now, don't come complaining to me later." Towering over his guild, using giant's magic, Makarov had a vending tray strapped to him while several members were tossing their money into it, betting on who they thought would win. "3-1, Gildarts' odds. 1-3, Cooper odds. Final chance! Don't miss it!"

After a few moments, when everyone finished placing their bets, Makarov closed the vening tray and returned to normal size as he and everyone shifted their focus to Gildarts and Cooper, who were standing at a distance from each other.

"Heh, seems they're done messing around. C'mon, let's get a little serious as well." Smirking, Gildarts glanced at the guild in the distance before backing away, putting a few more feet between them while Cooper remained still, his arms folded. "I'm not fighting you." Narrowing his eyes, Cooper spoke firmly, offering no room for negotiation.

"Heh, then I'll just beat you to a pulp." Gildarts tried to rile Cooper up, hoping to get a spark out of him, yet he remained impassive, not showing an ounce of reaction, causing him to sigh. "Haa, alright, alright, you little brat, I'll tell you what happened later, okay? You're ruining the fun." Having finally conceded to Cooper's earlier question, Gildarts rubbed his head in slight annoyance while eyeing him.

Having achieved what he desired, Cooper faintly smirked, only to shake his head. "Good. Still, I won't fight you, not while you're like that; it's not fair." Hearing him speak, Gildarts rolled his eyes before scoffing.

"You've grown quite arrogant while I've been gone. You think these little injuries will cause me to lose?" Sporting a wicked grin, Gildarts flexed only to wantonly unleash his magic, which enveloped him in an oppressive, whitish aura; the sheer weight of his magic cracked the ground he stood on.

Even though they stood from a distance, outside the range of his magic power, they could still sense just how massive Gildart's magic power was.

"Goodness, what a freaking monster." Wryly smiling, Gray unfolded his arms. "Hehe, I want to fight!" Natsu, despite having been knocked unconscious by Gildarts much earlier, rose to the challenge, though a smack from Erza put him back in place. "You'll die if you get between a fight of that caliber, Natsu." "Hah, die? Maybe you should let him go then, Erza." Gajeel's snide remark earned him a smack as well, causing him to click his tongue, though he didn't dare talk back to Erza.

"S-So powerful." Gulping, Wendy stared at Gildarts, her mouth dry from sensing such an overwhelming amount of magic power from a single person; Minerva, who was standing beside her, wasn't much better either. "B-Big bro won't lose, I-I believe in him!"

As Cooper stood before Gildarts, experiencing the brunt of the massive magic power, he didn't cower in fear or retreat; a single, large grin spread onto his face as his white hair began flowing. "Hehe, oh, I've been itching for this Gildarts; if you die, don't blame me." "Haha, as if you could ever!"

Cooper's grin spread across his face as his hair rose to the sky while he released his magic power, covering himself with a golden aura; without even taking a step, the two started fighting, facing off against each other with nothing but pure magic power, trying to overwhelm the other.

As the battle raged on, their magic power filled the entire area, cracking the earth while the wind whipped in protest, forcing Makarov to use his own magic power to protect the guild. "Stay behind me, everyone." Furrowing his brows in anticipation and excitement, Makarov stared unblinking at Gildarts at Cooper.

After a full minute, the violent battle of magic came to an end with Gildarts roaring with laughter. "Hahahaha, you little bastard! You've really grown a lot, huh? I can't even overwhelm you anymore!" Gildart's laughter was one of pure joy and surprise as he looked at Cooper, though the way he did so was different; he no longer looked at him like a superior speaking to a junior, but with the respect one would accord a peer.

Despite Gildart's high praise, Cooper just snorted and rolled his arms, preparing for the fight. "Still not enough, though. You held the advantage the entire time… Anyway, stop laughing, you pervert, let's fight already." "Hey! I'm no pervert, I just appreciate women's bodies." "That's exactly what a pervert would say."

While grumbling under his breath, Gildarts and Cooper both lowered their stance, channeling their magic power before suddenly lunging at each other, grins plastered across their faces as they clashed. When their fists collided, a massive explosion occurred, crushing the ground beneath them while the wind violently whipped, shredding the logs scattered across the ground.

The two moved without any regard for human life; they fought aggressively, aiming for vitals, fighting as if they were mortal enemies; the clashes were explosive and violent. With a kick to the gut, Gildarts would be flung back, but in return, a punch from him to the face would send Cooper bouncing across the ground.

Eventually, their brutal fight came to a close, and the aftermath was there for all to see; numerous large craters littered the earth, whatever hills and mountains that had remained after Cooper and Laxus's fights were gone, reduced to rubble. It was a land reduced to a desert with no hope of life returning in the near future without the help of mages.

Yet, this amount of destruction only occurred within a mere five minutes; that was exactly how long they fought for. That was the level of destruction the Ace of Fairy Tail was capable of.

Cooper POV

"Why are you leaning on me? You can walk on your own." Wiping blood from my nose, I glanced at Gildarts, who was leaning onto me, before pushing him off me, but he just returned to my side. "Because I'm old and you have some fresh legs."

Rolling my eyes, I ignored him, leaving him to lean on my shoulder as we walked back to the guild; when we arrived, I pushed Gildarts into the crowd, which he used as an opportunity to fall into Mira's chest. "Mhm, so soft, oh, and smells like honey." Lustfully smiling, Gildarts rubbed his head in Mira's cleavage, causing her to raise her hand, transforming it, before slamming it down onto his back, forcing him to the ground.

"No touching, Gildarts." Mira looked down at Gildarts. She may have been smiling, but her eyes surely weren't. "Heh, t-that's the feisty Mira I know." As Gildarts slowly stood up, we were quickly pestered by everyone asking who won.

"Gildarts, who won!?" "I put my money on you, so it has to be you!" "Big bro, if it wasn't you, I'm going into debt!" "Please, I'll have to live check-to-check for the next month!" "If I lose, I'll be broke! I'll probably have to apply at a nearby brothel." "Ew, no one would want you anyway, Laki. You're too creepy." "WHAT DID YOU SAY!? Fight me, MAX!"

Before we ended up descending into even more chaos, Gramps clapped his hands, forcing everyone to quiet down. "Gildarts won." Hearing Gramps, a third of the guild slumped in defeat while the others shouted in joy, though not everyone was easily accepting the outcome.

"H-How did he win? W-Weren't they evenly matched, Master?" Minerva's desperate voice managed to cut through the shouting and reach Gramps, causing me to faintly smirk at how cute she looked.

"It may have seemed that way to the untrained eye, Minerva, but if we fought for a prolonged time, Gildarts would win. I was barely managing to keep up with him; eventually, I'd exhaust my magic power." Squatting down, I affectionately rubbed Minerva's head, causing her to slightly widen her eyes before nodding while slumping her shoulders.
