Investing in films is actually quite an easy task: give the money, sign the contract with the director, and it's done.
Anyone can do it.
But the hardest part about investing in films is making money while doing so.
First, you don't know if the film you choose to invest in will make a loss or a profit, and the film's return cycle is very long; the probability of losing money is far greater than just recovering your costs.
Even if the film is completed and released without losing money, the returns from your investment might be far less than what you'd earn by just depositing that money in the bank for a year's interest.
After all, a film isn't something you can have shot instantly just because you paid; it has a production cycle.
As for those acclaimed directors whose films definitely break even, or even guarantee profits...
