MGSFV?! Chapter 550: One of the Best at Understanding Kevin; Senti: I'm Great at Conversation
"But Senti going to Kevin directly like this…"
Elysia lowered her head, looking back at the screen.
The same scene was playing out in the game—centered on Kevin—as Senti leapt down from atop that iconic colossal sword and landed before him.
"What's wrong? Can't decide who to support?" Beidou asked, guessing her thoughts.
Support Kevin? Or support Senti?
Maybe it really was a hard choice from Elysia's perspective?
"..."
Elysia shook her head. "No matter who wins or loses, Kevin has already mentally prepared himself."
"If Kevin knew I was supporting him, he might even say… 'It's meaningless.'"
"Heh, that does sound like something Kevin would say." Beidou nodded.
"On the flip side, if Kevin knew I wasn't supporting him… he might accept that more easily."
"So…?" It sounded like she was going with the latter, which Kevin would prefer?
"But if a girl's thoughts were that easy to guess, then he wouldn't be Kevin anymore."
So… it wasn't either?
Beidou picked up on something from Elysia's expression.
"In stories, whenever Kevin is brought up, Sisyphus often follows. They really are quite similar…"
Her expression calm, Elysia began speaking softly.
"Sisyphus was punished by the gods—forced to push a boulder up a mountain, only for it to roll back down every time it neared the top, making all his effort futile. He had to repeat it endlessly, without end…"
"Much like Kevin's struggle against the Honkai. It looks futile. But it has to be done."
"...When we see Sisyphus, we always focus on the burden he carries, we pity his fate. But Sisyphus told us—he believes he is happy. Resisting fate is his choice."
"The struggle toward the heights is enough to fill a man's heart."
Beidou: "..."
Elysia paused, then continued:
"And so—just like how adults use fables to teach children, perhaps Kevin's only intention is to show us…"
"He wants to entrust this world to us. Even if—even if—he'll do everything to become invincible…"
"But I've done those 'pointless' things before. Many times. They weren't as painful as you might think. So please—be brave. Don't give up on flying."
Beidou: "..."
"So you think support or denial isn't the important part. The important part… is understanding what Kevin wants us to do?"
"...Yeah."
"Hmm…"
He thought for a moment, then lightly clapped twice.
Clap~ clap~~
"Didn't expect you to give such a sharp analysis, Elysia. Impressive."
"I was thinking about it for a long time just now…" No wonder she had been quiet for several scenes. "Ahem—what's with that tone? You make it sound like me being insightful is a rare occurrence."
"Well, it kind of is."
Beidou spoke frankly: "Weren't you always like, 'I don't get this part of the lore. Never mind. I'll have Mobius explain it to me later…'"
Elysia: "..."
"People change… I just don't do well with rigid setting details."
She redirected the topic mid-sentence.
"But if we're talking about understanding characters—understanding Kevin—I can confidently say I'm one of the top few in this entire room."
Beidou glanced around.
If he could find even a third person sitting in front of the camera, he might've called Elysia modest.
But he didn't.
"..."
Ah, whatever.
He didn't feel like pointing out the flaw in her claim.
So he just said casually: "Sure, sure. Nobody understands Kevin better than you, okay?"
...
"Mmhm~"
"Alright, enough chatting. Back to the main story…"
Elysia hummed cheerfully and picked up the device again.
Tap—tap. The plot resumed.
Aside from what she'd just said, she was also curious: how could Senti walk up to Kevin so confidently, like she could go toe-to-toe with him?
It almost felt like Senti's power had grown immensely out of nowhere.
In fact—
It had to do with the Herrscher of Sentience's inherent traits.
She was a Herrscher of Mind.
Back in the day, even Kalpas had no good way to deal with Aponia. Destructive power-wise, she clearly wasn't as strong as Kalpas—but she still had him completely under control.
Same principle here.
As a Herrscher of Consciousness, Senti could exhibit absurd effectiveness in specific contexts.
And now… she was, in a certain sense, the complete Herrscher of Sentience.
What that meant—
Well, we'd see soon enough.
In-game.
Senti leapt down from the sky.
Standing firm before Kevin, showing not the slightest hint of fear.
"Heh. No surprise. I already tried mobilizing every Honkai Beast dream I could to strike back at Chimera's source…"
"And it just made you take a few extra steps."
Kevin glanced at her. "Honkai Beasts are not strictly conscious beings. Your power was never suited for them."
"Well, that is a surprise," Senti mused. "So Honkai Beasts really do think by dreaming?"
"They're siblings to Herrschers… and sensory extensions of the Cocoon."
[Senti: I'm a Herrscher—how come I didn't know I had siblings? Why do YOU know this stuff better than me? Who's the real Herrscher here?!]
"Their dreams encompass the Cocoon's thoughts about the entire solar system."
Kevin finished, and Senti immediately picked up:
"So that thing really is an alien from space?"
And what's her relationship with the Cocoon? Subordinate? Creator? Or… none at all?
If it's the last one, then that's ideal.
"At the very least, judging from these dreams—it had visited other planets in the solar system long before it landed on the Moon."
"Earth… might be its final destination."
[So the Cocoon of Finality already wrecked the whole solar system. Earth's the last one left.]
[Wait—why Earth last? Based on the order, Earth should be before Venus, right?]
[Maybe Venus's civilization started earlier? So it went there first?]
[That'd mean way earlier… considering how many times the Cocoon has rewound Earth.]
[Not foreign invaders—just a foreigner who changed the grading curve to 100%.]
[Imagine a test meant to cover all subjects gets cut to one impossible question.]
...
While the livestream went into deep theorycrafting, Senti had a totally different reaction.
"Ohhh~~"
"I see. Very cool."
Feigning awe, she exaggerated her reaction like she was about to clap and say "Bravo!"
That's just the kind of comedic energy she brought.
Pure entertainment.
But her next line was even better:
"Well then—how about giving us a share of that Chimera power?"
...Huh?
A moment ago, everyone was busy discussing the Cocoon's planetary conquest.
Now?
All eyes snapped to Senti's comment.
Kevin: "..."
[Kevin: If you want it, Senti, you'll have to take it yourself.]
[Sounds like something Senti would say. (dog emoji)]
Sure enough—
Kevin's reply matched their expectations:
"If you can, try to seize it for yourself."
"But don't expect me to give you power. That only makes it a burden too heavy to bear."
Just as Elysia said—
Kevin didn't want them to fear difficulty.
He wanted them to take that power—prove they had the strength to hold it.
"Well, I figured."
Senti wasn't shocked to see Kevin so unmoved.
To be honest, she'd only asked on a whim—thought she'd try talking first.
Originally, she had planned to just throw down immediately.
But based on her past experience, talking things out usually had a high success rate.
If they could resolve it over tea, wouldn't that make her look so much more awesome?
So she gave it a shot.
Didn't work.
Maybe she just didn't have the knack for it yet?
Or maybe… the reason her previous talk no jutsu attempts worked was…
Because she was the one being talked to?
Some people just had soft hearts.
Not naming names.
...
Anyway.
"Alright, if you're set on fighting—then let's do it."
Talk failed. Fight it is.
No big deal.
She was ready for this.
Kevin: "..."
"You do realize—you're no match for me."
Short and direct. Fully confident.
Senti clearly didn't take that well.
"Did you forget something?"
She clenched her fist. "This is a dream. A realm of consciousness."
[Senti: Kevin, this is MY turf.]
[You're so weak (fog emoji)]
[In the realm of mind, who do you think wins—Herrscher of Sentience or Kevin? It's obvious.]
[Plus, she's not the same Senti from the Previous Era. She took on the whole Elysian Realm solo. Now she's in her element…]
[Senti press 1, Kevin press 2.]
[2]
Someone typed lightning-fast.
[1...+1]
[2222222]
[2333]
The chat quickly turned into a spam-fest.
Clearly—
Even though Senti was full of confidence, that was just her usual vibe.
They didn't really think she had a 50/50 shot against Kevin.
Most of them just hoped—
That she could last three hits.
So when the game shifted into combat mode—
They hesitated.
Stepped back.
Could Senti really fight Kevin?
She might not be scared—but they were.
He just looked too strong.
Until—
Kevin, who had been trying to talk her down…
Suddenly drew Skyfire and struck first.
A leaping slash—slammed their character to the ground.
The camera zoomed in—close-up on Kevin's face.
Expressionless.
His eyes carried something… impossible to name.
And then—
They remembered what the "Fairy Lady" had just said.
This version of "me" may look invincible—
But don't give up on flying.
"..."
"..."
Yeah. No choice now.
The players' expressions hardened.
They started focusing.
One bar of HP.
Two bars.
Three bars.
Dodge.
Slash.
Kevin's health fell steadily—while barely touching them.
Perfect clear incoming.
Confidence returned.
Right—Kevin was OP in cutscenes.
But in real-time combat?
He's just another AI.
Show a health bar, and even a god can die.
Why were they nervous earlier?
But just as they were about to deplete his final health bar—
Kevin suddenly raised a hand.
A shockwave erupted—blasting the Herrscher of Sentience into the air.
Senti, the unstoppable, was defeated.
