And so the ceremony continued.
But I no longer saw the throne or the raised platform.
I saw him—not the man handing out wands, but the tyrant who very possibly rewrote my world with carefully constructed magical schemes.
I clenched my wand tighter in anger, heart pounding.
Rage seeped into my palms and my wand glowed red, suddenly snapping at the tip.
The Love Fairies around me whispered, stealing glances and looking away when I met their eyes.
"Hey, did your wand just break?" asked one of the meddling adolescent fairies.
"It's fine. Don't worry." I forced a fake smile as I hid the wand behind my back.
I have to control my emotions.
I darted away into the crowd of onlookers watching their friends and family receiving pathetic wands. Apparently, it was a big thing.
Meanwhile, I was weaving in and out of people. I needed to be far away from anyone who would notice I broke the wand that was just handed to me.
